Stokely
Hello, I've been considering a different keyboard stand for home use. Probably just for two tiers. I don't like how the legs of my old Z stand stick out...definite toe hazard, if I keep using it I'll need to wrap those suckers in foam or something I don't really want a column stand, I have a spider pro. Curious what others may be using? Again only for home use so it doesn't have to be portable/easy to break down. I saw that Thomann has the old-school A frame looking stands (though I don't know if those will ship here). I'm considering maybe more than two tiers though that is more of a nice-to-have. I don't use the sounds from keyboards at home, just as controllers or to work on live patches, so I don't need a bunch of them up on stands necessarily. Edit: I see the Jaspers A frames ones will ship here. They seem to have great reviews so that's a consideration especially if I think I could use more tiers. sunspot
I ordered the mid-width 6-tier Jasper (6D-120B) from Thomann to Texas USA earlier this year and like it a lot. Shipping was painful at $76 so my total out the door was $420. But no dealers in US, so what are you gonna do? I have two of the six tiers dedicated to tabletop synths/FX and non-traditional keyboard instruments. Feels very stout and sturdy to me, I don't feel like I ever have to worry about something trying to slip or fall off. Happy to send a pic later but unable to take one at the moment. It sits to the right of my main two tier Z-stand. Quote The Players: OB-X8, Numa Compact 2X, Kawai K5000S, cheap Korean guitars/basses, Roland TD-1KV e-drums. Eurorack/Banana modular, Synth/FX DIY. Stokely
The 3-tier one with the casters looks very useful. Your comments mirror all the reviews I read. I need to give some thought to whether there is other gear (interface, a headphone amp) that might be better on a stand (with a shelf) than my desk also. dazzjazz
$76 shipping from Europe to Texas seems cheap to me. 1 Quote www.dazzjazz.com PhD in Jazz Organ Improvisation. Konnector
For my home studio where things will never get moved around, I've always built my own to suit exactly what I need. Jasper stands are probably the best for stacking 'em up without eating up a lot of space. (You'd think by now they'd have a few North American dealers stocking their stands.) Stokely
I'm about as handy as a foot...and the bigger issue is that I'm still a bit up in the air as to the best way to situate everything with the office space I'm using. Hence the casters might be handy while I keep changing my mind
lsj
Standtastic two or three tier stands. the most STURDY and most adjustable stand available. rock solid. I have two of them and my three tier bought additional arms to make it a four tier.
Stokely
I actually have an old standtastic stand, it's missing the arms. Bought it at a garage sale and used it a couple times, gave the arms to a buddy who had one and wanted another tier. it was too fiddly to set up at gigs and the footprint was deeper than I like (which could be an issue in my studio). I honestly forgot all about it, haven't used it in maybe 9 years or so. I probably should either look to get arms for it or move it to someone who could use it. sunspot
I have a Standtastic two tier as well, which I used for many portable jam nights years ago. These days it sits propped up in the corner of the closet inside its gig bag. Definitely sturdy, but my biggest problem with it is the sheer amount of floorspace depth it takes up compared to something like a Jasper, maybe 2x-3x more? I just didn't have the real estate in my studio room that it requires. Not a problem if you have a large enough room I guess, but I did not. Well that and I needed 6 tiers. 🙂 Quote The Players: OB-X8, Numa Compact 2X, Kawai K5000S, cheap Korean guitars/basses, Roland TD-1KV e-drums. Eurorack/Banana modular, Synth/FX DIY. AWkeys
This was my solution for my very small second bedroom (link below). I bought two sets of wall stands and three sets of tier arms for each. Here's one stack of three with a K&M Omega stand holding up the ARP String Ensemble (which is there to demo against the Behringer String Solina I just got yesterday - so far so good!). Also bought a couple of Standtastic trays hold the shorter keyboards. I will take these stands to wherever I live - they are an excellent solution! https://lm-products.myshopify.com/collections/standtastic-keyboard-stands
