John Sayers
I have a new laptop with a 4200rpm drive. I also have an external 7200rpm drive connected via USB. Copy from CD to internal. 3. Copy from internal to internal 4. Copy from CD to external 5. Copy from external to external. Observer how long each procedure takes. Dylan
The only real way to find out which one will be faster is to benchmark it. Id highly recommend the free and handy Disk Bench utility: http://www.sesa.es/us/dl/dskbench.zip . Its a command line tool, but its easy to use and works well. FWIW, Id imagine the external 7200 RPM HD would be faster.
