ProfD
This article was inspired by someone posting a picture of the KB rig his dad played with Synth-Pop band A-Ha: https://www.musicradar.com/news/aha-80s-synth-setup Awesome when kids are proud of and think their KB playing dad is cool.😎 4 1 Quote PD "The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return."--E. ProfD
The funniest thing about the pictured KB rig is that nowadays, those 6 KBs can be paired down to 1 or 2 KBs. 😁😎 Quote PD "The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return."--E. Moonglow
Just curious, what are all of those keyboards? I can identify the top boards on each stand, the Roland Juno-60 and JX-8P, but what are the others? Below the JX-8P is (I think) a D-50.
Shamanzarek
It appears the original recording used mostly a Juno-60 and DX7. They did some revised recordings before they came up with the hit version. https://www.soundonsound.com/techniques/ha-take-me Quote Gibson G101, Fender Rhodes Piano Bass, Vox Continental, RMI Electra-Piano and Harpsichord 300A, Hammond M102A, Hohner Combo Pianet, OB8, Matrix 12, Jupiter 6, Prophet 5 rev. 2, Pro-One, CS70M, CP35, PX-5S, WK-3800, Stage 3 Compact
Still VanDerGraaf
One of the most underrated pop bands ever- if you live in the US, it seems they still feature in those "One hit wonder" articles. In the rest of the world they went from strength to strength after "Take On Me". They have a fantastic body of work and many great songs. Of course, it's always nice to hear a band where the keys have parity with the guitar. Kudos to them for their bittersweet, world-weary, beautiful interpretation of Take On Me from 2017. Not a synth in sight.
