Stand solution for mini keyboard?

Recommended Posts

So I have some gigs where I mostly play guitar but want to toss in a synth lead or pad an intro. The board is a JDXi.

So something standing height is best. I tried using a couple of iPad holders clipped to a mic stand but it was bouncy and unstable. I don't really want to use an xstand but I'm unaware of other options.

Anybody solved this?

Maybe try a stand designed for a laptop, basically an ultra heavy duty music stand.  Something like this.

Instruments: Walters Grand Console Upright Piano circa 1950 something, Kurzweil PC4-88, Ibanez TMB-100
Studio Gear: Audient EVO16, JBL 305P MKII monitors, assorted microphones, Reaper

You might check out the Gator Heavy-Duty Adjustable Media Tray Stand for <$100.  At first glance, there is a raised lip on 3 sides of the tray -- but I simply put the tray on upside down and positioned the 1/2" raised lip at the bottom -- Voila, it works great for my Tascam DP-24SD.  I'd bet it could work really well for a mini keyboard (and would have room for a mixer or pedals, operated by hand too).  The stand is really well constructed and is VERY stable.

Thanks gotkeys and oldno7.

Both are very similar and are possibilities.

The thing I have found with things that are fastened to the post at one point in the middle is when you are hitting keys on one end of the synth, especially in a rhythmic manner, you get the keyboard bouncing under your hand.

I used to have a MicroKorg and I made a simple shelf out of plywood, with wood moulding around the edges to hold it in place. I screwed a microphone flange on the bottom in the center. So I could just stick the board on a mic stand, put the MicroKorg on top et voila! Cheap and easy stand for it and it worked pretty well. Sorry for the terrible photo from the edge of a wide-angle shot, but this is the only one I have handy.

Knox Gear Universal Portable Piano Keyboard Stand (Black), Accordion Style with Adjustable Width and Height

30 bucks used. I have one, I put the back of my Mojo 61 on it, it works well. Not sure why folks are recommending stands intended for other purposes that cost way more - I would just buy this kind of accordian-style keyboard stand.
