SamuelBLupowitz
I got really excited when I saw this was out of beta, and the price is reasonable for what it is (and lord knows I love Pianoteq)... but as much as I'd love to fool around with it, I'm not a classical organist and the intermittent moments of doomy pipe organ I play in my rock bands probably don't justify the investment. Would I take it if a software license fell in my lap? Hell yes I would. Quote Samuel B. Lupowitz Musician. Songwriter. Food Enthusiast. Bad Pun Aficionado. Dr Mike Metlay
It was in beta for a long while and people really loved it. It will be interesting to see if the Modartt folks can get organists to happily shell out the way they do for Pianoteq... ElmerJFudd
The answer is of course, no. One just needs to look at the NAMM reports on sale of organs vs. pianos & digital pianos (vs. digital keyboards, synths, controllers, etc.). However, I would like to have it to mess about with. What's out there for church organ controllers? Pipe organs can cost a small fortune to install, I watched a used one get moved from Germany to the US for significantly less but still no joke. Running a laptop with a controller built into a decorative wood case through PA speakers (subs a must to quake with the power of God) might be a cheaper option. Doerfler
I had the beta version for quite a while (might still have it somewhere). Never spent much time with it. To each his own
miden
Yeah, same Dave...as a PT licence holder, I tried this organteq and it's ok, not really useful for real world bands. Be great for a church group ensemble...pity they can't do a tonewheel version Quote There is no luck - luck is simply the confluence of circumstance and co-incidence... You can go simple: [video:youtube] Or you can go nuts: [video:youtube] The latter makes the most sense. As a church organist you spend years of your life mastering that instrument - serious organ rep is hard as ____. A pair of m-audio controllers (or similar) is drastically different from what a qualified organ builder does and organists play on. Tom Williams
I just helped a local church unlock their office computer; while there I got to play on a real pipe organ for the first time in 20+ years. Even with just a dozen ranks or so, all stuck in the swell box, it was still a pleasure to play, distinct from the joy I get on my current stack o' keys. At this point I would be thrilled to get an AGO pedalboard beneath a couple of 61-key controllers. I've been quietly looking at used Allen consoles with midi. If I ever get serious about selling my C3 this is the direction I'd go. Even a two-manual with a modest stop list could be augmented with something like the APC Mini Abelton controller.
David Emm
Great video! Its a classic lesson in computer/synth madness, burning hoops included. Curse the CPU wall. Congrats on your courage in tackling it. Good chops, too. Having played the real thing a few times, I quickly understood the unique commitment required. The sound is glorious, but getting there beyond the presets is an uphill climb worthy of Mt. Everest, as with certain synths. The kind of pipe organ I need is a definite diminutive of the fuller world. I'm more of a full swell, rock-minded sort. I won't be playing Saint-Saens Symphony No. 3! Hauptwerk is not in my future. A stack of synths is about as close as I'll get. I'm glad I at least know not to ask for an iPad version of Omnisphere. Quote Absurdity, n.
