Paul K
Ladies and Gentlemen; I tripped over this company "Sound Town" while looking for Bose/Fish-stick type gear. Price is right, but there is very little data on this company on this here internet thing.... so I'm skeptical. Any left coasters have any experience with them? Here's the Fish-stick copy that looks interesting: https://www.soundtown.com/collections/pa-speakers/products/carpo-v5pws They have a ton of other stuff on their site so I'm thinking it must be some other gear re-badged as Sound Town. Maybe Carvin rising from the ashes? Cheers, Paul K Things are just the way they are, and they're only going to get worse.
desertbluesman
Looks cool, I have a friend who has a Bose setup, and he loves it. dbm If it sounds good, it is good !! http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=143231&content=music
Scott Fraser
Far be it for me to speculate on a product I haven't used, but I'm going to guess this is a Chinese clone of one of any number of similar line array-esque cabinets. I will say, though, that the brand has no presence whatsoever in the pro audio world. Scott Fraser
Winston Psmith
I found exactly two online links for Sound Town, a minimalist website and a BIG Amazon listing, described as their "Amazon Homepage." Amazon has essentially given up even pretending to regulate the products that pass under their banner, to the extent that I won't buy anything from an Amazon link, anymore. Here's just one issue coming up with Amazon - Counterfeit books on Amazon. "Monsters are real, and Ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win." Larryz
I had the same idea made by Fishman called a Solo amp. It worked great for about 10 years and for no reason one of the 2 channels went out. My buddy had one and experienced the same problem with his almost to the day. We both bought them at the same time. They worked great for us up until they took a dive. Easy in and easy out, great sound for small venues although it would handle bigger ones as well. I'm probably not going to invest in having mine fixed and we both switched over to the Roland EX4 . One channel is still working on the Solo amp and it could still be use for a mic or for a guitar or for a monitor. Great product while both channels lasted. I'm still using the stand that came with it for my Roland EX4 Street Cube and my buddy will do the same. The stand still comes in handy for us! Great sounding amp/pa used indoors and at deck parties. Worked great for a mic on one channel and an acoustic electric in the other for solo gigs. Two of them can be hooked together on each side of the stage when playing duo. Keeps up well against the Bose system with less than half the weight to haul in and out! Take care, Larryz
Scott Fraser
I had the same idea made by Fishman called a Solo amp. Keeps up well against the Bose system with less than half the weight to haul in and out! And vastly less pretentious than the Bose, too. Paul K
a Chinese clone . That makes sense with the stilted description on their web site-- some translations are just a little off, like stating how much power the cab can "handle" even though it's a self-powered unit. So not Carvin risen from the ashes. But I'd still love to find out which parent company. Like how Sammick makes (or at least used to...) guitars for all sorts of other companies. Not gonna pull the trigger on it until a track record appears, as I don't need another boat anchor; but that Fish-Stick clone would fill a niche for me. Things are just the way they are, and they're only going to get worse.
