The rig in my living room keeps growing.

It started when my wife let me put the A100 next to the K. Kawai. Then, I got my Seven, and had to put that there. I also recently acquired an Arturia Keylab MkII with their V6 collection. I had a PEK in there as well, but swapped that out for the Kronos this morning.

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about.

Your cable routing is on point. HOW?!?

Took some work. Was way key to make this look as unobtrusive as possible. The knee wall really helps, as did wrapping cables around the Hammond..

Also, the two Line 6 L2t speakers each accept stereo inputs - Kronos is connected to one, Yamaha M06 mixer with the Seven, Audient iD4 interface for the laptop and acoustic guitar (has a pickup) in the other - and can be cross connected digitally so that both sets of inputs feed both speakers.

It'll probably be more helpful if I show you a pic where you can see the sound system.

your wife is a saint. :)

No kidding. I couldn't have gotten past the piano.

Nice setup, Dave.

Testing the limits has been on the guest room. When I bought the Kronos I put my yamaha p140 in there (my setup is in a kind of den between two rooms), she was complaining for a while, tried the second tier and she complained more, then just left the piano.

After a while she was Ok with it, and when I said I was going to sell it she said keep it. She made a nice custom furniture so that now it stays hidden, and there is a nice surface to work on when I'm not using it. I have it rigged so that I can connect the laptop (fake drawer that opens up and I can pull the cables out) and use it as controller for soft synths.

Given what you and your neighbours have been through in the past couple of weeks, I think it's cause for celebration with a setup like that. Bravo dB!

It started when my wife let me ......... dB

At first, I read this as -

"It started when my wife LEFT me."

Glad you're back home and safe. My heart goes out to your neighbors - what a week!

Professional musician = great source of poverty.

Very slick Dave- well done! 2 questions- Do you struggle with things resonating, things like crystal and other glass objects that tend not to be silenced quickly lest your wife turn the nail gun on you  ? Also speaking of glass objects I have to ask...is that an ashtray next to your Kronos? :cop:

Not at all. We don't have a nail gun, you see.:idk:

Yes. It's full of guitar picks.

She does! She lives in the Portland OR area, and she is single...

:o Damn it's worse than I thought. Way worse.

In all seriousness I do have glasses and such in the china and curio cabinets rattle around from my Leslie. Must be cheap glass  .

Nice setup! I'm thinking of getting a Keylab 61 mkII, how's the action on the keybed? What would you compare it to?

It's excellent, actually - much better than the Essential I had before. I mainly want it for synths.

Reminds me of the TP9 Alesis used in the Andromeda - I think the same keybed is in the PEK as well.

Please post a video of you crawling into the middle to commence playing on your hands and knees, or alternatively the crane delicately winching you down onto your stool.

You can actually just walk in between the EP and AP. You do have to turn sideways...

I believe brother Dave Doerfler's home rig has a similar entry point.

Sweet setup dB. But don't we have a thread for this topic? :poke:;)

I wish my similar rig (Kawai RX-2, A-100/Leslie 45, Wurlizer 200A...) had similar space instead of the "bedroom" that it's in. I'm not complaining, I just know that a larger room like yours for all my gear would be nicer.

My, my. That Seven is a beauty! Just last night as I was packing for a gig, I thought - keyboard stand...music stand...there's got to be a better way. Can't these things just be built right into my board??? Those attachable legs are quite nice!!!

Yes, they are. :2thu:

I really like the Seven a lot, regardless of my association with Crumar. I play on it a bunch more than I expected. Almost exclusively the Rhodes sound, the Wurli some as well.

So maybe now there's a PEK in a closet looking for a new home? :)

Yeah, I should probably sell one of the two I own. It would be happier in a home where it would get more love. I have a PER to go with the one that ives in my studio, so I already have eight voices and its not worth the space the second PEK takes up to have 12*.

dB

* For those who may not know, I used to work with DSI - that's why I have so many of these. I own PEK serial # 00001.
