Mark Schmieder
GeneralMusic announced Martinics Elka Panther today, which is a strange development though both are Italian. You may be familiar with the line of physically modeled Promega digital pianos (excellent in their day) from GEM. https://www.kvraudio.com/news/generalmusic-releases-elka-panther-vst-au-plug-in-42870 https://bringelkaback.com Im going to guess this means that this particular emulation is NOT going to make its way to Arturia like the others. I've had this bookmarked at Martinic's own website since the beta was announced a month ago, but couldn't justify the price quite yet, as I use these sounds so rarely anymore. But it's a great job overall. Mark Schmieder
It will be interesting to see if this emulation (and others) trickles down into the hardware arena, just as Pianoteq and a few other software instruments are now making their way into hardware keyboards. OB Dave
Wait, what? I feel like I missed something here. Is Generalmusic back? I thought they went under several years ago. Is it still the Galanti family running it? The Realpiano series was light years ahead of what anyone else was doing at the time.

I had read somewhere about 2 years ago(?) that there were a bunch of parts sitting in a warehouse in Italy somewhere. I would have hoped by now that they would be have been boxed up and sent to Finland. It certainly doesn't take 2 years to do that and offer parts for sale. I have two GEM keyboards that can use a couple of parts, I can still operate the keyboards but having parts vs. not having them makes a huge difference in keeping vs. ditching the keyboards. Mark Schmieder
I knew there was a Finnish company involved now, but every time I look at their website (it's been a few months since I last looked), it seemed this was a promise for the future vs. any hardware products available. Might be worth checking for current status and who sells them. Although it seems to be only a minor update to the older Promegas from what I saw earlier. Bobby Simons
I just gave my beloved Generalmusic Pro 2 to a student. Its been leaning against a wall in the laundry room for the last 5 years or so - he was jazzed to have it. That board was unbelievable when I first got it - it still holds its own and that TP/20 action was my all-time favorite (same as my Alesis QS8).
