Thoughts and prayers, please

Recommended Posts

I kept hesitating whether to post this - I don't usually like making my private life "open to the public". But I do believe in the power of thoughts and prayers so here goes.

Please send thoughts and prayers to my stepfather, Bob, who was admitted to the ICU last night after a heart attack. He's in his 70's and has been wearing a pacemaker for as long as I've known him (~15 years). Although he is still unconscious and in ICU, the doctors say he is stable.

Thank you,

Rim

Rim -

You've definitely got my thoughts and prayers with you, my friend.

I'm glad to hear he's stable, at least that's a positive sign.

Sending you lots of postive vibes. :)

May all your thoughts be random!

Here's lots of thoughts, prayers, and bunches of good vibes your stepfather's way, Rim.

Sorry to hear about that. I've been in that boat. No fun. Hang in there, and you and yours, like I said, have my thoughts and prayers.

Hey, Rim, bro...

I know...it's like a family here. When I have a crisis, I know I can count on all the fine folks here to be a sounding board. Or just a much needed source of support.

Your stepdad is in my prayers. Man, it's a wonderful thing that you and your stepdad are close. And glad to hear that he's stable. Please keep us posted on how he's doing!!

Thank you all, again.

I was able to catch my mom on the phone at home between her visits to the hospital. The good news is, he was concious but he doesn't like things plugged into him and kept trying to pull them off (he's slightly claustrophobic and they have him on a respirator). The nurses says he's strong, another good sign, but that's why they've sedated him with morphine so he doesn't keep trying to take things off him so he's asleep. The doctors say he will survive but my mom told me "he's in bad shape". Hopefully, the doctors are right, but I'm sure he's not looking as good as he usually is. They also said he will probably need a long hospital stay. Not sure how long.

Thanks again, my online family. Not to be too sappy, but, God bless you all.

Things are looking better. The doctors removed the respirator from Bob Tuesday morning and he is breathing fine. He is also happier without the respirator, so they are not keeping him sedated any more. He is talking and joking around and no sign of brain damage. The doctors want to operate on his heart after he regains his strength, but we are cautiously optimistic. One step at a time.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Good deal, Rim. Getting off that respirator is a plus.

But, the heart is a fickle piece of machinery. I don't want to sound like a downer, but sometimes multiple heart attacks can occur...one...and then a couple of days later when things seem better, another one. And so forth. I know from experience, so, folks, don't stop your prayers just yet. I'm praying this doesn't happen. It happened to my Mom.

Hang in there, Rim.

Also, there's nothing wrong with asking the good folks on this forum to keep you and Bob in their thoughts and prayers. We're glad to help you out.

Keep us posted, OK?
