NoahZark
Saw "Wicked" tonight at the Kennedy Center with the family (a birthday present for my wife). The kids and I took a peek in the pit before the show. What keyboards were there? Four Yamaha S90ES's. Makes me proud. Noah

TechEverlasting
The S90ES is a popular controller for theater because it has a nice action and is very reliable. Most likely you weren't hearing any S90ES sounds in those shows, the S90ES would be controlling a Mainstage or Brainspawn computer/plug-in rig. MAJUSCULE
All my friends went, I didn't. I don't really know that show though. To tell you the truth, I was more bummed about missing Legally Blonde. I know. It's a very guilty pleasure. Eric Website Gear page
Mr. Nightime
My wife and I went to see "Wicked" at the Bob Carr in Orlando. Absolutely wonderful show. We'll get shows to the King Center here in Melbourne once in a while. I've seen "Rent" and "Hairspray" there. Looked in the pit for Hairspray. There were 3 Kuezweils. And I saw "Classic Albums Live" there when it included our own Sven Golly. "In the beginning, Adam had the blues, 'cause he was lonesome. So God helped him and created woman. Now everybody's got the blues." Willie Dixon

I did the Broadway touring show of Chicago around 2007. They hired a full band (10 piece I think) and we were in the middle of the stage. Good view of the dancing girls from up there. iLaw
Evidently things are good for K2600 players. Recent classical music as well. A number of John Adams works, such as Nixon in China and The Death of Klinghoffer specify a K2000 or K2500. Larry.
stillplaying
Big expensive tickets xshow - "The Sound Of Music" in Edinburgh. Percussion, couple of multi brass, couple of reed/flute, two strings, four keyboards: Yamaha piano hardware Kurzweil two Kurz controllers driving Mac VSTs Sounded great BTW (I was in the audience - not playing). The much smaller Perth Christmas panto: 1 Trumpet/tin whistle 1 Accordian 1 Roland digital piano (the new-ish 700 thing) Wasn't playing at that either. They did their best. "Oh no they didn't." "Oh yes they did ..." Like this thread. I feel quite cut off from my keyboard playing peers. This is the nerdy stuff that I want to know. I'm the piano player "off of" Borrowed Books.
