If it were May I'd say enjoy Bike Week! They have a motorcycle rally similiar to Datona and Sturgis. Now they have the rally outside of MB somewhere. MoodyBluesKeys Posted July 30, 2010 Share Posted July 30, 2010 The bike rally has been held the last two years near the small town of New Bern, NC at the Craven County Fairgrounds. The local HD dealer was able to get all the local governments, Sheriff's department, etc. to sign off on it. All hotels are jammed each year. A large percentage of Harley owners now-days are older, well off financially (priced a Harley lately?). We kind of wonder about the Myrtle Beach decision to shut down the biker week. We are still not getting the full size crowd that went to MB, but the event has been an asset to the area so far. MB is one of the three original places where shag dancing got its start (similar to west coast swing, but not identical), other two are Atlantic Beach, NC and Virginia Beach, VA. At one time (and maybe still), there were more campsites there for travel trailers/motor homes than anywhere else in the US. It has become a very intense golfing area (likely one of the reasons that the locals have gotten over-enthusiastic in controlling activities).
