Since the link was obviously a safe, direct to YouTube link, I went to it. Lo and behold, who do I see, but a slightly older, Woody-Allen-er Austin McBride. Yeah, that guy.

When I searched for the infamous video, I found he also teaches some other categories on the site, including golf and break dancing.

I hadn't watched the video he sent before I posted the above, and now I have. OMFG. You should see his example of a "polyrhythm." ROTFLMAO

He also has a

but I haven't watched it yet.

What the hell?? First he's playing a 4/4 riff and counts it s 5/4, obviosly, it doesn't fit. Then he plays almost the same riff and counts with syncopations.."one-to-three-..ee..-four.."

I checked his other videos. He doesn't play jazz any better than me. And I suck big time.

Ok. I've checked his videos on polyrhythms. This's gotta be a joke.

Stage: MOX6, V-machine, and Roland AX7

Rolls PM351 for IEMs.

Home/recording: Roland FP4, a few guitars

I was thinking that his counting 5/4 against playing in 4/4 bit should have been in the polyrhythm video.

Take a look at this 'expert's' opinion of how a 'well-tuned' piano should sound.

(bear in mind I've been a piano tuner for 27 years).

It sounds like something from a wild-west saloon bar!

I think this sounds better - this chap was a popular comedian in the UK in the 70's/80's, and was noted for his 'murdering' of piano tunes .....

Hope you enjoy!!!

Of course, in reality, Les Dawson was actually a very fine pianist. The joke was very similar to Jo Stafford and Paul Weston's "Darlene and Jonathan Edwards" recordings... Click here if you're not familiar.

As for Austin, I'm glad I'm not in any band where he's doing the count-ins...

Hitting "Play" does NOT constitute live performance. -Me.

You can't mention polyrhythms without mentioning polyphony, which means many sounds. They are mutually exclusive, which means they complement each other really well.

This guy's deadpan delivery is truly awe-inspiring. :D
