PBBPaul
Anybody from around there? I'm actually going to be working there for two weeks and while I probably won't have much in the way of time, I'd like to try and get out and look around, maybe check out some live music or sit in on a Blues jam somewhere. Anybody familiar with the area? Our new and improved website Today's sample tune: Lonesome One
Kendrix
BBBpaul, Check your PM's. Give me a buzz. If ur here for 2 weeks Im sure we can get some time to hang. Pick up a city guide ( free rag with many listings of local musical events) to see whats happening. I'll warn ya - Manhattan it aint. - But then again, you are a coming from cheeseland.. :D Check out some tunes here: http://www.garageband.com/artist/KenFava
Mark Zeger
Maybe this is an opportunity for me to meet Boggs & Kendrix? Why don't we all have dinner one night? PM me. I'd suggest the Dinosaur BBQ or Empire Brewing Company. There's usually a wait for a table at Dinosaur, but the food is worth it and they have live bands often playing blues. Empire makes excellent beer on the premisis and the food is very good. Find time to go to the House of Guitars. Make sure you have room on your credit cards (don't bother bringing a check, they don't take 'em). Here's a link to the local newspaper's entertainment section: http://www.democratandchronicle.com/entertainment/night/index.shtml

Boggs
The Dinosaur would be good especially if he wants a place to hang for some blues and have some great ribs and cajun foods... Keep me in the loop, but I don't get out of work until 6:30 or 7:00pm and I will have rehearsals on Thursday nights. I'll be recording our new CD starting tomorrow for the next 3 Saturdays and also on the Sunday following the last Saturday... Add to that, my father will be in town starting Saturday the 2nd for 2.5 weeks... I'll try and fit it in. Let me know what kind of foods and activities you like and I'll make you some recommendations. Where will you be working? Mark Zeger
Paul, you're in luck. There is an open blues jam @ Dinosaur BBQ on Monday night. Here a link to their website music calendar: http://www.dinosaurbarbque.com/Calendars/7_2003calendarR.htm I'm playing in a golf tournament that day, but I could make it at 7:30 or 8. Wed. actually works better for me, though.
Boggs
PBBPaul, this is gonna sound crazy, but while you are here, you have to go to the Pittsford Wegmans Supermarket... Cher was just in town yesterday and today and among other things she went there to shop and hasn't stopped talking about it since! She kept saying they have to get this place in Malibu... Even between songs in her performance tonight it was reported on the news that she was talking about her experience there and how she wants it in Malibu!! She was also reportedly exceptionally nice to our locals... PBBPaul
Cool, I'm starting to look forward to this trip after all. Dinner and some Blues sounds great. Again, I don't know just how much time I'm going to have, but I will definitely make some. Thanks, Paul Our new and improved website Today's sample tune: Lonesome One
Mark Zeger
So, are we on for dinner @ Dinosaur BBQ this Monday? I'll need to know before Sun. night because I won't be able to check the board on Monday. Paul, we'll make sure there are plenty of napkins so you don't get BBQ rib grease and sauce all over your fingerboard. :D
Kendrix
Hmmm, Im afraid Monday is one night that does not work for me. It's my father-in laws birthday dinner. Tuesday? Wednesday? Thursday? Caevan O’Shite
No! NO!! NOT the "Garbage Plate"!!! I had a very disgustig experience in the old, original Nick Tahou's (sp?) once. You couldn't pay me enough to eat there. But, it's cool to hang there late at night and sometimes catch some unusual "nightlife" in action, an intersesting mixed-up cross-section of society shows up there! It's kind of a rite of passage. The beer at the Empire is great, isn't it? I wish I could horn in and meet some of you guys, especially to play a little, but (a) I wasn't invited and (b) I din't think it would be possible to make it up there. Hope you guys have a great time! [/b][/quote]Yes, the beer @ Empire is consistently great, even though I don't often drink beer. The fruit beers are a little unusual (ex. blueberry in the summer, pumpkin in the fall, etc.). Excellent food, too. My wife and I both had our 40th birthday parties there and they did a great job. Caevan O’Shite
Hmmmnn... well, I know it's not that far by car, I used to live there, and I used to drive it a lot, can find the way with my eyes half closed, so's ta speak... but, I don't have a car now, and I don't have a lot of cash on hand. But... If I can, maybe I will try to make it! It sounds like a blast, and I would love to meet you guys and all! (Oh, whaddya mean, who's gettin' formal? My only problem with the Home of the Garbage Plate was the real, real informal river of nastiness running into the dining room from a broken toilet one night, right under the tables. How can he keep from getting shut down, sometimes?!?) -k Ask yourself- What Would Ren and Stimpy Do? ~ Caevan James-Michael Miller-O'Shite ~ _ ___ _ Leprechaun, Esquire _ ___ _

Mark Zeger
Other than the infamous Garbage Plate, some other culinary offerings from the Flower City are: White hots: A white hot dog, a cousin of the German weiswurst (sp?). Looks far more appetizing after charcoal grilling (I don't care for them, though). Genesee Beer: Was about to go out of business until a few local guys bought the brand and the brewery. Country Sweet or Sal's Birdland: Both offer a 1/2 chicken dinner which is said chicken, deep fried in one piece, smothered with a very sweet/very hot sauce, served over white bread usually with a side of macaroni salad. I love this, but limit myself to eating it about once every 2 years. Nearly as lethal as a Garbage Plate. DiBella's subs: Try the Godfather. It's hot ham/ capicola/Genoa salami, get it with provolone, lettuce & tomato, hot & sweet peppers, and Italian dressing. A oustanding sandwich. Charlie's Frog Pond: A cool place for breakfast in the popular Park Avenue neighborhood. Take an outside table and have the frittata, but don't plan to eat for the rest of the day. Fish Fry: Practically every restaurant in town offers a massive fried haddock dinner on Friday nights. The Winfield Grill and Jeremiah's are among the best spots. Great Italian food: Many places all over the area. Mr. Dominick's, near the Lake Ontario beachfront, is probably my favorite and it's always crowded. RT time of 3.2secs, and the stage is in a corner of that boxy hell! These guys made all the adjustments needed without ANY complaining to make it sound good to the fans that came to see them (not many fans, about a dozen...but for an out of state band, that is about 12 more than normal... :) ). Live, the singer sounds a LOT like Bono. There recordings seem to lose the "rich" element of his voice. Sounds like a PT production to me. ;) Ed

Kendrix
OK I just spoke to our visitor from cheeseland. BBBPaul is OK with wednesday night as well. (he's off-line during his travels this week) So, we are on for wednesday at The Dinosaur 7:30. (although I may try and get our name on the wait list a bit earlier if I can). I did hear from KHAN who is unable to make it. : Cavean O- can you show? let us know! Who's got a digi camera? (not me) Cheers, Check out some tunes here: http://www.garageband.com/artist/KenFava
Mark Zeger
I don't think Dinosaur takes reservations for a party of 4-6, which is what we're likely to have. Boggs, if you look like your avatar, maybe you can be the designated "meeting point" near the hostess stand outside the bar section. See you guys at 7:30p.
