Informal Drop In OT Thread

Recommended Posts

Hopefully not sidetracking things too early:

I found an internal job posting within my company for a position I think I'd be a good fit for that could make somewhere in the neighborhood of double what I currently make. That's not to say it pays a ton...but for a 25-year-old with no degree it'll be a huge step in the right direction. I'm gathering info and will hopefully apply today or tomorrow.

Jump all over it davi-o. At your age you should never waste an opportunity to move forward.

Good luck bub.

But will they let you hang on the LD?

But will they let you hang on the LD?

I sent emails back and forth with somebody who currently holds the same position yesterday and, from what I can tell, I don't know if I'd have the time to hang here during the work day let alone the ability. I'll be talking to her on the phone at some point today to ask a few more questions and I've got a feeler email out to the recruiter. I seem to be in good with all the freaking recruiters around here but I don't even recognize the name of this one! Guess I'll have to go at this one legitimately. ;)

Not necessarily a bad thing - I hate slack time.

Makes the day drag.

I saw this while scoping menus for promising grub around town this afternoon. This one's for Tater:

I admit to being a cheap bastard but I always leave 20% if the service is good and yep, I almost always tip in cash.

I honestly felt like telling her to go back to Burger King.

There is no excuse for bad service. When we get good service I will tip very well - usually 20%+... especially if The Girl was particularly difficult when ordering. She is horrible about making up her mind sometimes and I can feel the wait-person's pain.

Same here. I always tip good service, and pretty well. Speaking of service, does it annoy you when they are constantly there. I mean I like it when they are properly attentive but when they are there every couple of minutes it gets as annoying as not being there at all.

Lydian mode? The only mode I know has the words "pie ala" in front of it.

Yes, for pete's sake don't hover.

A good waitress keeps an eye on her tables. If something is empty she fills it. She also watches to see if you are looking for her - simple eye contact should be enough to bring her over.

It's not rocket science.

Ha! I fixed my car today. Turbo's had been sometimes happening and sometimes not for a long time now. It left two mechanics scratching their non-turbo competent heads. On a hunch I copped a new boost solenoid from this old wrench who lives a few three miles from my house. The part came off of a wreck he had in his back yard, cost me ten bucks. It took two hours. One hour forty-five chatting with the old guy, and fifteen minutes putting in the part. I am so psyched.

Zoom!

MMMmmm... turbo...

If I had unlimited funds my RX-8 would have a turbo charged 20B in it. Along with a completely new everything transmission-to-wheels to put the power to the ground.

My wife and I eat at a local Mexican place in the strip mall. I've always been generous with the tips.

All the wait staff say "hi" (or hola) when we arrive. We get escorted to a particular table if it is open. The food gets there fast and hot, the Dos Exes draft frosty cold, the empty dishes in a hurry and cashed out before the ink is dry.

Man, I love that place.

People have been known to starve to death at the local Olive Garden.

I bet they died happy.

I used to like the commercial where the family brought their relative, visiting from Italy, to Olive Garden, and he was thrilled. In real life he'd punch you in the nose or at least put a curse on you.

If you think my playing is bad, you should hear me sing!

I just joined Twitter because apparently it's the AntiChrist...and I'm really bored. I'm under daviodudeguy if anybody (Phil W) wants to find me.

I've been telling myself that I'm not going to start Facebook until I get my new PC up and running so I don't monopolize the gf's laptop but I can do this from work whereas Facebook is blocked by the network.

No doubt. Olive Garden is the Behringer of Italian food.

I have yet to understand the point of Twitter. I am rarely interested in what I'm doing at any given point in time - let alone anyone else.
