  1. this was the magic piece of advice...Logic will allow me to import my movie file, and it automatically generates an audio file of the 'internal mic"s' audio. With that sharp transient, I should be able to visually sync it up.
  2. My go to set up for doing quick solo videos has been to simply record myself with photobooth on my mac, and set the inputs in preferences to my audio interface, I would like to record a video of my piano trio with each of us tracking audio to a separate track. I use Logic Pro. You can import movie files, but you can"t record video directly to logic. This means either having to manually sync the audio and video, (which I can do, but there always seems to be a bit of a lag between the two...), or, hitting record on the camera and hitting record in Logic at the same time. Does anybody know of a better way to do this, or are these two methods best ways to go about it?
  3. I think a PC3 and a vent would be a mighty fine sounding rig that could easily get you through any situation, and just my two cents, nobody other than yourself would ever notice the difference between the KB3 leslie sim, and the vent, so if you wanted to make life super simple, you could get by with just the PC3.
  4. man, that is some serious tonnage...leads me to thinking again about the beauty of being able to get it done with just one instrument. It"s no secret that I"m a huge, huge fan of Steve Nieve from the Attractions, who clearly has a lot of gear on stage these days, but my favourite clips of him are those early gigs on the cusp of the post-punk scene where he was just rocking the Vox and nothing else. It"s super rare, but I love the few gigs I get asked to do where I get to play just organ, or just synth. It"s not just that the set up/load out is easier, it"s that focusing on just one instrument pushes me to deeper levels as a player. (as I write this, I"m listening to Coltrane"s 'favourite things' and thinking 'you can do a lot with just one tone!') Cool pic though!
  5. a-w-e-s-o-m-e especially the macintosh 128K on top of the CP80
  6. I gave my yamaha P200 to my son for use at his Mother"s as he is taking lessons. I therefore no longer have a controller in my studio. Thinking of grabbing a PC 88MX that has recently been completely overhauled. i.e. this is for use as a midi controller only. I loved the feel of these back in the day. I do have an old P90, but the PC 88 has a better action IMO. Just seeing if this is in line with the opinion of other"s who may have played both.
  7. Great post..I just had to complete a rigorous financial review for my child support and I was quite astonished to learn just how much money I have invested into my studio....
  8. I dig 'two towers...' what did you use for gear on that?
  9. Just editing this as I see there is already a separate PC4 thread going which I will jump over to...
  10. Anyone have any live clips of someone doing a set with a PC4 and making use of it"s multitimbrality?
  11. I saw it in the theatres back in the day...it"s amazing how well the effects have held up...it"s now a classic for sure.
  12. Need gigs to come back before I can make that move, but good to know!
  13. My pick for that would be Kurzweil PC4. just might do that...I am cheap, so my eye was looking towards a used pc3K8, but this time I may go new. Thanks for the recommendation.
  14. I"ve always dug the aesthetic of players who can get it done with just a single board. With my main gig, I"m blessed to have a crew, but even with a just a two board setup with a digital accordion, there are still quite a few cables to be loomed. Once covid is over, for gigs outside my main gig, I am thinking of trying to find a decent 88 note 'all in one' solution.
  15. you should check out her sister"s 1988 album 'Miss America', an absolute gem of an album: [video:youtube]
  16. My girlfriend and I watch this every Halloween..Keaton is so brilliant in this movie. I read somewhere that Burton gave him zero direction, it was pure improvisational genius: [video:youtube]
  17. Here is the complete National Film Board of Canada film referenced earlier. Great documentary if you"re a fan: [video:youtube]
  18. PM me if you ever are back! I"ll set up a gig in Sutton, or Jackson"s point and get you up! I have a few classic r n b bands that I book there from time to time, plus I have an organ trio and a piano trio. The Briars, Mansion House, Keswick Arms, lot"s of places. My uncle hosts a massive jam on snake island. They barge the gear over, good times. My main band, Blue Rodeo, plays Sunderland arena every year. p.s. Amazing bass fishing...made the mistake of trying to eat one last year. Good fight, horrible taste, not like the perch!
  19. This National Film Board of Canada clip was filmed at his cottage at Lake Simcoe: [video:youtube]
  20. Off topic, but I was intrigued to read this. I spent most of my summers up through age 16 on Snake Island and De Grassi Point on Lake Simcoe. My family's cottage is at Willow Beach near Jackson's Point! Killer perch fishing! When the first lockdown took place, I took refuge there from March-May. Two kids and a Yamaha P200!
  21. Haha, he"s a national icon up here. Here is my fav, his late period re-recording of the Goldberg variations: [video:youtube]
