  1. I know I bought my share of both over the years! No Canon in this household...
  2. "Feed The Tree" by Belly.... I love the song but its always made me laugh by its silliness and especially how she mixes up the lyrics after the guitar solo.
  3. LOL I feel like I know this band.... Saw them a couple nights ago; rhythm guitar guy used to play some synth on a little stand to his side, but now he's replaced that with a pedal for his guitar. The irony being they're an 80s cover band and could expand their repertoire considerably had they kept the keyboard or better yet, took on a full time KB player. I was disappointed by the disappearance of the keys but I'm not skilled enough to offer up my services, so it is what it is I suppose.
  4. Linda runs a tight ship apparently. Some years ago, she did a show at the Chicago Theater. At some point during the performance, she spotted someone in the audience stifling a yawn, so she called him out between songs. "That guy over there... He's yawning!". But then, after the show there is a hallway or a bunch of doors behind the stage (they showed us when we toured the place) where the artists sign their names or write well-wishes to the fans. Linda wrote "Wake Up Chicago!!".
  5. I play sometimes on the grand piano at the nursing home where my mother is a resident. The ladies there aren't too picky, but they generally like "pretty" songs. Come Sail Away, Love of My Life by Queen, Summer Breeze by Seals and Croft, Let it Grow by Eric Clapton, etc, etc... One day I opened with a Green Day tune I had learned, and one of the old ladies got up, hobbled over and asked me not to play because she was trying to sleep! Made me laugh; maybe she just doesn't like Green Day!
  6. My problem, as a kid, was the exact opposite. I got home from school about 3:30 or 4:00 and had until exactly 5:30 to practice before my dad got home. The piano was in the same room with the TV and once he got home, the TV became the priority. Of course if I did anything else or made any other stops after school practice time was cut considerably.
  7. All too often I get "stage fright" when I try to do that!
  8. The photography stands are handy because they're probably 1/4-20 size (common at every hardware store) but you're right, useful for only lightweight equipment (I use them for off-camera flash attachments).
  9. In the town I live in, it seems half of the downtown businesses have closed up (hardware store, pharmacy, department store, and several more) and each has re-opened as a fancy pub or microbrewery. So drinking is alive and well here it seems! Funny how years ago downtown was busy during the daytime and dead at night - now its the exact opposite. Tons of people downtown at night, seven nights a week. But the beers aren't the $2 or $3.50 or $5 Miller Lites I used to drink.... They're crazy expensive now.
  10. Damn! Ken, your shots are AMAZING! In the "strange but true" department: I just signed up here at the urging of a friend who wants me to play keyboards in his band (I'm a piano player for the most part). Never did I expect to make my first post in a Photography thread... But I know Ken Lee! Or more specifically, I know OF Ken Lee. We know a lot of the same people... He's very highly respected among night photographers!
