  1. It sounds more and more like a perfect piano controller for me. I love heavy action keys! I usually buy my gears from Sweetwater. I don't remember ever paying for shipping with them, but looks like there is a shipping fee for this item. I gotta get a stand (piano chair height) too. What do you think of this stand for this controller? https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/OmegaStd--k-and-m-omega-table-style-keyboard-stand-black
  2. I'm seriously thinking about getting one. There's a ton of positive feedback on it online. PianomanChuck shows how quiet the keys are, which is a big plus. I can't stand that klunk klunk klunk sound of most controllers. There are some older threads here too, but people change their mind after using an instrument for a longer period of time. Be nice to hear all of your good and bad experiences/feedback. Thanks!
  3. Thanks a lot CowboyNQ, ............. Yes, I would definitely judge any instrument by its playability. It's so weird when people make statements like 'no one should play this keyboard' and such.
  4. Yes, I'm only using the S3000 as a controller, so that's not Casio's audio at all. Yes, I used it to play around with Chopin and Liszt etudes just to see how it responds. I don't think this board is designed for that type of performance. I could if I had to, but i would probably get a ton of ghost notes. I find light action keyboards very fatiguing. I also felt I was getting drop outs with thick harmonies, but didn't spend more time to confirm that.
  5. I've had the S3000 for a while but I left it at the control room of one of the churches that I do choir works for. I never played anything besides sacred music and really liked it for what it had to offer. After Corona shutdown, I brought it home recently and spent some time with it. For light playing is totally fine. I would totally use it as a travel keyboard as well, but I wouldn't recommend it as the only practice keyboard for advanced repertoire. I find the keys way too soft for my preference. To me the weight difference becomes noticeable with smaller note values at a higher tempo. It makes it little hard to control phrasing and dynamics, because you constantly have to change your playing style to make up for the weight difference. Again for casual playing none of this matters. It's a good keyboard for the price range. I used it as a controller to play some Brahms. I played the whole thing but skipped the repeats to keep it short.
  6. I didn't know you could even upload music yourself directly to 'YouTube Music'.
  7. Thanks for all the comments in regards to the 4th pedal. I didn't think it was just a soft pedal. I was thinking it was a custom something that probably comes handy for period music of some sort. I may have misunderstood the article. I thought this particular piano was the only Fazioli piano with this custom but official 'upgrade'.
  8. That was PAINFUL to read. I hope after insurance fights, she recovers her investment. "In a Facebook post Hewitt said her F278 Fazioli, the only one in the world fitted with four pedals, and worth at least £150,000, was 'kaputt'. She said: 'I hope my piano will be happy in piano heaven.' I wonder what was the 4th pedal for?
  9. Wow, I didn't know of her. Such an amazing performance!
  10. A friend of mine uses Zoom H4, Triton audio Fet-head mic pre and Shure SM7b for his podcast channel. Audio: http://themixingboard.libsyn.com/tmb-69-dave-smith
  11. Oh Mahan is an amazing musician. Born in Iran and raised in the US. Years ago, I attended his concert and even though I'm from that region myself, it was a little strange for me to see a non-European looking person play the Harpsichord so well!
  12. Yeah, I received that news letter too. BFD 1 was my first drum library. I skipped BFD 2 and upgraded to BFD 3 later. Sadly, my drumming techniques are still as bad as day 1. With all the software piracy going on, it's interesting how small software-only pro audio companies managed to stick around this long.
  13. I love Ivory pianos. I don't even tweak them that much, but yes it's nice to have those options available. I've never played the N2. How does the keybed feel?
  14. This is how I see it. If someone/anyone (with or without massive tits manages to have a full life doing what they love the most -music in particular- , I have all the respect in this world for them . For all you know she might have handled her music life a lot better than %95 of all music forum users combined. She likes what she's doing and from what I see she's got a pretty good fan base as well. I like her, because I like successful musicians even if I don't care for their style or whatever.
  15. This is not even a good time to die. My 90 year old neighbor passed away from an unrelated illness. Max number of people who were allowed to attend the funeral was 10. Between the heavy rain and Coronavirus situation, only 5 of us showed up . Since no service was allowed, we pretty much parked by the burial site and witnessed the process from there. He served in Vietnam, he was a math teacher for 30 years and a wonderful human being. Just terrible.
  16. Closed permanently? https://www.guitarcenter.com/pages/COVID-19-Announcements.gc I didn't read the whole thing, but it seems they closed like any other non-essential business out there.
  17. My Amazon order for a pair of Ethernet cables are postponed by a whole month! I could understand if anything and everything gets delayed these days. Generally e-mails can and should be answered. With that being said, everybody's stressed out these days and even simple things turn into something else rather quickly. What can I say, I'm going crazy myself.
  18. Sounding good Al. What mics do you use? I see them here, but can't tell what they are.
  19. Not really! This is actually a thing on YouTube. There's a ton of head strap GoPro videos like this... Finally a post from you that actually shows a genuine interaction with your keyboard. I'm impressed. I really am!
  20. So far I've only listened to 'FOR THOR'. Good track with a tasteful arrangement. it's recorded and mixed very well as well. Congrats!
  21. Oh man, that Sax was cheesy indeed!!! Obviously that was your goal so you NAILED it. I get the retro feel from everything else but what's the story behind the sax part? I've listened to 80's synth music, but can't remember a sax being played like a piano. I'm just curious.
  22. Maybe there should be a quarantine sale thread? I'm thinking about getting ' Izotope Music Production Suite 3'. Too bad RX7 included in the bundle is the standard version.
  23. I love Keyscape....not for acoustic piano but for EVERYTHING else. You might want to look into Embertone Walker 1955 Steinway as well. Version 1 had pedal issues, but I think they fixed them with an update. I've yet to download and install the update myself.
  24. My full time studio job is going to pay me and others for a while, as long as we can work from home or in real small groups. Who knows how long this could last...probably not for long. Other than this, I have multiple sources of income. Church/Choir gigs are all affected of course. That's about $1200 to $1500 a month right there. The biggest unofficial pocket of money is my transcription service. I've been doing this for the Persian, Arab, Indian...etc...etc... community for a while now. There are hardly any publishing activities in these countries. Persians and Arabs in particular have this huge interest in their own folk and pop songs. There are no sheet music available for that community. For the most part, their song have been recorded without sheet music, so even the person who produced the album doesn't have anything for his/her own songs. Not even a lead sheet! It was just something I did long time ago, but then it turned into a pretty solid part time gig over time. Sometimes I get some terribly obscure recordings to transcribe. For those I quote a ridiculous price and hope that will discourage them from pursuing the deal. Some go for it, so I get stuck with that recording for 20 to 30 minutes but can't complain. I thought this gig would slow down too, but for some reasons I'm getting more orders now. Maybe people are staying home now and want to play more music? All I need is a laptop and Sibelius, so it's all profit. I also do arrangements and offer a range of other music services, but writing scores for existing ethnic songs is the easiest and most convenient music hack. Being a flexible musician is the key I guess.
