Whilst I have been retired for quite a few years now in my 46 years working I had 25 different job titles, worked for 8 different Companies but the last Company was by far the best, I was working for myself.
I choose the hours I wanted, where I worked, what I did and how I did it.
Yes there are downsides and self discipline is paramount otherwise it goes pear shaped rapidly, but that should not be a problem for you as it is part of an Engineer"s make up. I am one myself, professionally qualified and grounded in a wide area of Engineering and vastly experience in related Building matters hence could turn my hand at a whole array of tasks.
So yes, do your own thing, but if you take my advice, keep all your irons in the fire by diversifying on what you do.
Factor in that being self employed you get no vacation pay, no sickness benefits, no company contribution to your retirement pension, no company car, no computer and no mobile phone, no expense account etc. Hence have a basic hourly rate that you charge and include in that rate what you want and put aside finances to allow for the through in incoming income. I would have different rates dependent on the contract duration and involved tasks.
Finally do look at the Tax implications, and what is the most efficient way for you to manage the tax that Bloodsuckers Inc will demand on your income. You will probably need insurance, liability and third party and possibly the setting up of a Limited liability Company through which you manage the business.
Good luck.

One of the UK"s biggest Instrument Retailer is 15 minuets away from me and their website has nearly all keyboards listed as Out Of Stock.
-
How does "resale price maintenance (RPM)" differ from MAP (minimum advertised price).
Here in the UK we do not have MAP, but RPM is effectively similar.
The UK laws on Price Fixing are intended to penalise any attempt to stifle the free market and stops a product being sold at a level that is not advantageous to the consumer.
It can be odd as here in the UK a Yamaha Genos is the equivalent of $4000 whilst in the USA the very same arranger keyboard is readily priced at $6000
-
Good for us buyers with lower prices.
Questionable for our High St Music Instrument Stores who have enough of a problem competing with online companies like Amazon.
Here in the UK Companies like Amazon pro rata pay far less UK Tax than Companies based in the UK since they are not technically based here.
We slap a Tax on Amazon and your shit for brains USA Government slap tariffs on our Exports to the USA

Thank for posting ir is a great read.
Seen him live many times and was completely blown away when he played this at his one man show at
The Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

OMG no, forget about it, I have played both the GoPiano and GoKeys the action is just like a very basic Yamaha E series starter keyboard.
A Korg B2N @$430 would be so much better and this N version has a lighter touch keybed.
Or a Numa Compact 2X @$500 may serve you better.

who is Carlos?
The guy whose birthday it is!

Still a way to go to get close to John Lennon"s Imagine piano which auctioned for $2.1 M

Here in the UK there are companies who buy CDs, with an average pice paid of £1 per CD and they pay postage.
Better to get some cash than zero or the CDs languishing unplayed on a rack

Great news Dan.
You need some plusses after what you have been through.

I am very familiar with this topic, having had to manage tenosynovitis in both wrists since 1970 when I was a 3rd grader. It runs in the family. Can you link to exercises that help with wrist tendons? The problem is inflammation of the inner lining of the tendon sheathes (the lubricating sheathes) resulting from friction and not caused by a lack of muscle or misuse. I have managed with rest, by knowing when not to overplay, anti-inflammatories, avoiding bad wrist angles, ice, and playing light "fly away" keys actions such as on the great Mason and Hamlin and Bechstein grands.
I too had a very similar problem with my right wrist.
Using my hand exerciser exacerbated the problem.
Anti inflammatory drugs did not cure the problem,
In the end I had to have a guided injection under ultrasound.
Seek medical advice if you suffer any injuries

Over here in the UK it is different with write off roughly set at 50% of the forecourt value.
Our insurance write off is not black and white there are categories like a) shred only b) break for spares c) would be the state of yours ie repairable but at a significant cost n) structurally sound but repairable at a cost.

Fingers crossed for a successful outcome.

My old laptop is similar in spec to your new laptop and it runs Da Vinci Resolve just fine.
I also have Magix, Power Director and Adobe CS5.5 on it and they all run just fine.
Da Vinci Resolve is vastly superior to Magix but there is a learning curve so do watch the online video tutorials to help you out.

I briefly had an A800, it was OK but very problematic to setup gave up in the end and returned it.
You would be better spending mire for a Ferrofish and add that to your current keyboard it will be cheaper than an A500 and the BX3

Kross 2 is a nice board, and I love the weight. If playing a 2-way split (bass + whatever),
I'd be curious to know if there is indeed a way to quickly shift the octave of just your right-hand sound up or down, and also a way to change your right hand sound without glitching your LH bass playing, and also to quickly adjust the volume of your bass and RH sounds individually. It was not immediately apparent to me that these things would be possible, but I've spent very little time on one.
Easily solved by creating a Combi, then copy it to the next user bank and change the octave thus a simple switch from one Combi to the next but remember the Kross 2 does not have SST.
On the fly individual volume changes in a Kross 2 Combi is not easily possible.

I would not buy Netgear if they were the last manufacturer on Earth.
I bought a Netgear router many years ago and it stopped working, I rang Netgear and they said what more do you expect it is 18 months old.

Start with as high a quality audio and video as you can then output using the preset for at the streaming service you want to upload to.
I have been editing video for 25+ years using Premiere, FCP, and lately Da Vinci Resolve which is free and imo it is better than FCP and Premier, what is not to like it is Pro grade not like the cheapo $50-$100 home editing software like Power Director or Magix.
Mpeg1 is an early AV industry standard and MP3 is a part of that standard
Mpeg 2 is DVD
Mpeg 4 gives us Blu-ray, MP4, Mov, AAF, AAC etc and a good leap in quality

Over here musicians in Churches do it for the love of God.
The only paid musicians are those related to the major Cathedrals which have choirs and affiliated schools.
May God help you to find alternative employment.

You posted this very same query on another forum a few days ago where you were given advice.
You have revisited that forum but failed to acknowledge the advice given.
If people take the time and effort to give you advice the least you could do is say thank you.

Zero interest in buying anything from Kraft or any other USA based Company.
There is the whole Atlantic Ocean between them and me.
Which would be why Dave said he was looking for an equivalent in the UK
We do not have distance constraints here in England.
I have about twenty music stores within one hours drive of me so unless it is one of these I will have no interest in buying from any store further away.
As it is a search for the cheapest price here in the UK will more than likely return one of the music stores near me.

I can't imagine an app doing that effectively.
What is effective?
The App will indeed help a newbie to get going correctly in that amongst its features is that it displays what fingering to use throughout the Beginner courses and carries this over into chord playing with inversions.
You do not play the notes shown on the screen and the App waits until you play the notes correctly, the same with timing.
There are also plenty of free video tutorials online that will show correct posture and setup so there should be no problem there.
I do agree that face to face tuition or at the very least video lessons will help but what teacher is going to hang around on the off chance a student with time restraints can make an appointment.
A teacher is surely going to want cash up front for lessons even if they are at 22:00 or some other anti social hour.
I used to teach and students cancelling late or failing to turn up was a pain.

Flowkey uses the mike on the iPad and does not need a physical connection.
My iPad is connected via USB and an Apple Camera Adaptor to my Piano and I usually play wearing headphones and in this case the Flowkey App gets the audio via USB.
Hence best if both worlds, what I do not know is the capabilities of other piano learning Apps.

Sort of OT: Are prices on New Keyboards, etc , too high ?

The answer is simple, because buyers are stupid.
Who in their right mind buys a Genos when for the $6000 cost of a Genos they could buy a Korg PA4X and $1800 worth of other kit.
