Thank you. I've had a lot of help from Markyboard over the last couple of years.

Picked up a beat up Eventide Eclipse and a new MioXL midi interface for Christmas. Ended up moving/reracking/rewiring everything. Very pleased with the new setup.

I should be able to make the hang. Don't think I can do NAMM, but I'm scheduled to be in our Industry office those couple of days.

I went to the local Guitar Center (such as it is, but that is the only music store anywhere close) and held quite a few. No one seemed any different than the other to me. I am completely new to guitars.

Greetings, First post in this forum. I am a piano player/synth guy, but am going to buy my first guitar at Christmas. I have no illusions of becoming a great player, but I would like to learn a bit about the guitar, learn simple chords, and do a bit of recording. I'd like to buy an electro/acoustic, as I would like to connect it to my interface for recording purposes. I have no desire to mic a guitar, etc. I've done quite a bit of research (with the understanding I know nothing about guitars) as well as talked to a few folks, and I've pretty much decided on a Taylor Big Baby BBTe. They are around $500, which is about my budget. Does this sound like a reasonable guitar for that price? There are seemingly 6 billion "learn the guitar" books and guides - do any of you have any suggestions on a good place to start? I have a bit of musical training, so I understand chords and structures and the like. I just know (literally) nothing about the guitar. Thank you.

I have the entire Hollywood Orchestra - I use it in Cubase with only 32 GB Ram, without much issue. As noted, SSD is really a must for it though. Play version 6 is better to me than Play version 5. Not sure what Hollywood Strings comes with these days.

What is the brand of your curvy screen? I'm still debating in my studio if I need two 27" screen side by side or a very big one....I have the room between the two monitors... Its an LG 34UC88. Nothing really special about it, but it has been a huge upgrade from the 27" flat I had. The monitor came with a utility that allows you to change the "configuration" of the monitor on the fly - for example, I can set it to split the screen, and Window automatically sees two monitors. The curve is great. I spent a long time at Best Buy staring at the curved monitors before I bought this. I'm a believer now.

Only Elements, AFAICT. That is correct - only Elements. I'm a Sonar refugee as well - I went with Cubase, which is going well thus far. I do detest the licensing system. I ended up buying Cubase Pro for home and Cubase Elements for my work Surface.

Cubase Elements ($99) does not require a USB E-Licenser.

Sweet setup, but that desk is FAR too clean! Are those rack mounted speakers? No, velcro. I need to so something with them - the one on the right doesn't fit correctly now as I've moved the Moog from the center to the right.
