  1. https://usa.yamaha.com/support/updates/cp88_cp73_os.html "V1.50 to V1.60 New features A new “Sound” function has been included in SETTINGS, with these additional parameters: “Mono/Poly”, “Portamento”, and “Pan”. The “Touch Sensitivity” parameter has been moved to “Sound”. Fixed problems Fixed minor problems." You can now send your split patches out the left or right output for recording to separate tracks, sending to different amplification, or in the case of the organ - send just the organ to a rotary pedal (also helps as a workaround for wanting both rotary and distortion on at the same time).
  2. Sorry to hear that the shop was not generating enough sales for the effort. But glad to hear you have something lined up that starts soon and break a leg on that!
  3. Makes sense given the direction Montage M has taken. And Galaxias from Roland. Will they build a MainStage-like host for all software instruments?
  4. I watched this recently. Yeah, the fellow has a fascinating take on music and how he wants to play guitar and most everything. He’s a curiosity, as are his arrangements and compositions.
  5. Nice. I’ve got a much better shot at this than a Kronos.
  6. Long ago I took advantage of this offer from Apple. It has been a motivation to stick with them as theyve changed silicon and OSes. There are few things you can count on in tech - but one is that Final Cut, Logic, Motion, Compressor, MainStage and the stock plugins are going to be there to work with on a new Mac (as opposed to third party plugins and drivers needing a rewrite). There is also a small discount on hardware for students and teachers and with a steady job you can finance your purchase.
  7. Oh no. Time for another software clone wheel shoot out.
  8. I feel I saw it do a steel drum or something similar in the video. I have to check back.
  9. AI software synth, trained on a huge body of synth patches. Feed it a patch you like from a recording. It will recreate it with its own parameters. Not exactly right? The parameters are there for you to tweak until you’re happy with it. https://micromusic.tech/ Free download.
  10. I would imagine Jarre wanted May for the bit in Rendezvous Part 2, but to make it worth Brian’s while he got a featured improv. 🤷‍♂️
  11. Hmm, yeah I get it. The charts took you time and effort. The replacement walks in a benefits from your work. I wouldn’t think twice about leaving them for a sub if I wasn’t able to make a date. If it’s your choice and you’re not being let go, help them all out by getting the new guy up to speed quickly.
  12. TB and USB interfaces are having a nice long run. Including backwards compatibility as they improve speed and have settled on that USB-C/TB connector. FW certainly was preferable to USB at the time. But 400 to 800 required a connector change and then they were done with it. FireWire is dead. Long live Thunderbolt.
  13. A real shame. Best music shops in my region by a long shot. Buy to try and eat the shipping back costs is crap. Musical instruments aren’t glasses or a dress shirt.
  14. I think a lot of developers, these guys, Zoom, etc. saw a lot of interest and investment during Covid that has since probably halved as people returned to their normal behaviors. That said - I feel internet speeds have improved, computers have gotten faster and wifi has improved in people’s homes (not to mention 5G). So this is worth a try again. I wish I had an Apple Silicon Mac to test it with.
  15. At inception, ok, early iPads were conceived as media consumption devices. I don't think Jobs or anyone at Apple imagined (at least at first) that developers would find so many productive and professional uses for the devices, pushing Apple to add capabilities to iOS/iPadOS and eventually concede that users wanted an iPad Pro with an M4, 8gb RAM and 2tb of storage. This piece of tech is over $2k and certainly not a toy. In fact, many people who have adapted their work habits to the iPad certainly do pass on the desktop/laptop macOS devices. They don't need them anymore. It's not for everyone, but only we can decide that for ourselves.
  16. An interesting thing here is macOS is capable of running iOS/iPad OS apps if the developer supports it. But obviously, you need Apple Silicon and the most recent version of macOS to do it. MacBook Air from late 2020 and later Mac mini from late 2020 and later MacBook Pro 13-inch from late 2020 and later MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch from 2021 and later iMac from 2021 and later Mac Studio from 2022 and later To download iPhone and iPad apps on your Mac, launch the App Store from your computer and click your account name in the bottom-left corner. This will show the apps you have downloaded and purchased through your account, across various devices. Select the iPhone & iPad Apps text to see all the apps from those devices that can be installed to your Mac. Paid apps will be available to download again for free, though some may need to have a current subscription to fully function. You can also download apps in your family share purchased with other accounts in your family. Once you have the app you need downloaded you just need to setup alternative touch controls, click the app name in the top-left corner of the screen. Select Settings and turn on Touch Alternatives.
  17. macOS + MainStage and Logic + Apple's Sample Library and your third party plugins (and their content). How much space is left on your 256gb drive?
  18. I won’t bother upgrading until I’ve saved enough scratch for 16gb+ and 1tb internal storage. I was reading today, that Apple’s parts pickers selected three different speed ssd drives for the Mac Minis (which is my most likely choice to avoid paying Apple’s price for keyboard and mouse). The 256gb is slower than the 512gb which in turn is slower than the 1tb. 😂
  19. If you have Apple silicon you’ll be able to use the new features. Freeze or bounce in place to use in other versions of Logic, export stems to open in any other DAW.
  20. Possibly time to stop upgrading and be a vintage music maker. The current 8+ core CPUs with support for up to 64gb of RAM and ssd storage don’t really have any trouble with a boatload of tracks and plugins. 32bit float, 96k audio. What is apparently going to need more horse power is AI. The buzz is all about these AI features which will run on dedicated AI cores. If that doesn’t interest you, no reason to upgrade. But if these new work flows fascinate you and you’re a tech lover - this ride is just getting started.
