  1. Sad. Way too early. RIP Neil.
  2. Absolutely! Looking forward to it!
  3. What's up with the plans? Who's going? Any good hangs?
  4. Super! Thanks for letting us know and good luck! (Subscribed...)
  5. Well, that's the click-bait driven Internet we have all learned to hate lately...
  6. Well, while I agree that the band could play, that song might not be my cup of tea. Regardless, I definitely do not agree that "musicianship" (whatever that is) is lost, there are _so_many young talents out there with both skills and taste. And, thanks to the wonders of the Internets, we can now actually find out about them and enjoy their musicianship. These are good times!
  7. In what way? Are there features you are missing or do you not find your way around it? It definitely _is_ different from other DAWs (and that is why I like it).
  8. Can't agree more. Waveform/Tracktion has served me well during all these years (since T2, also through the dark Mackie years). Super simple interface and extremely fast workflow. Ahhh, I'm NOT alone!!!! :- D Started with version 3 I think, it came gratis with a Mackie interface. That set up got me going quickly after years of discouragement with Digital Performer. I'm sure it's a good program but I just didn't bond with the GUI at all. Too "swiss army knife with all blades out all the time". I LOVE how Waveform "cleans up after itself" clicking on the thing you want to adjust brings up the parameters in the same box on the bottom where the last thing was and the next thing will be when you click on that. Just simpler visually and fast to get work done. Cheers, Kuru No, you're definitely not alone. There seems to be a hard core fan base and a lot of new users since they started adding features in the Waveform versions. But, as mentioned above, the free versions (which is the full releases from just a few years ago) work perfectly. I'm not upgrading each year anyway.

  10. Haven't seen those before, great examples and a super cool technique. Thanks!
  11. Different background history, reasons to exist and intended audience. This may change, as no one can make any actual business in the NAMM booths anyway these days. But for the foreseeable future I cannot see NAMM leaving Anaheim. And regarding the babes part, that is definitely not hip any longer. Get over it.
  12. I don't know about Moog, but Behringer announced that they were not going to participate at NAMM (or even Frankfurt) but instead focus on their own events (for all the brands in the Music Tribe group).
  13. Getting a small booth is not _that_ expensive (a company I was involved in investigated this a few years ago). But I agree that the ROI may still be questionable. Most people seems to have shifted their NAMM presence from doing business talk (which is impossible anyway), to a way of getting "free" Instagram publicity.
  14. As you are used to the AKG studio headphones, I'd recommend the AKG K271 MK2. Great sound and good enough isolation for most occasions (if these doesn't do it you probably need a pair of drummers' cans, like the VicFirth). And they should fit your budget. I love my pairs!
  15. I got (yet another) Android tablet... Extremely cheap Huawei, but with a decent screen, that I will use exclusively as a sheet music reader. It seems rugged enough to be kept in my gigbag at all times and, if something bad happens, it is not a fortune to replace.
  16. Cool! Unfortunately I will need to leave on Saturday (only two days, Friday-Saturday, this year). Have a lot of fun!
  17. NAMM 2020 rumors already? Well, why not - I just decided I will go there in January!
  18. That is a really good point (and likely one of the reasons Spotify is suing them for anti-competitive behavior). Then, the good thing about the collapse of the recording artists is that live music is once again live and well. Sure, concerts are more expensive to attend, but it also means I can make a decent living playing live. You lose some, you gain some...
  19. Lots of great info in this thread. I stopped using my pre-lightning iPad as the connector made it hopeless to use in a live situation. Looking forward to Apple going standard USB-C over their whole range of products (already in September?).
  20. This, and some other similar examples, shows that the market for musicians apps is probably smaller than you'd think. I have a friend developing some excellent Android apps (mostly for drummers), and I can tell you it is no goldmine. Apples ecosystem is obviously bigger (at least for music), though.
  21. Fellow developer here, and I agree completely. Text (as in code) should be on white background, but I can tolerate the occasional ssh-window with green-on-black just for the nostalgia.
