  1. I agree with this. I have had excellent luck with my Nord keyboards, I have owned 6 of them and sold 4-

     

    1. Electro 3, paid $1800, sold two years later for $1400

    2. Nord Wave, paid $1950, sold two years later for $1850

    3. Stage 2, paid $3200 sold five years later for $2200.

    4. Lead A1, paid $1700 sold two years later for $1200.

     

    When you break it down in $ per month quality keyboards are indeed a bargain!

  2. In some instances, even with Roland gear, it appears that the DP-10 only sends (or the unit only sees) three values, 0, 64 (half), and 127 (full). Not the pedal's fault, but interoperability with different instruments does not appear to be consistent:

    Roland DP10 is a 'continuous' pedal in theory, able to send range of 0-127 velocity levels for sustain. And it apparently does, when used with FP30 for example. When connected to FP10, and then FP10 via USB MIDI to laptop, only single values 0,64,127 are being transmitted.

     

    @pawelsz is likely correct in that the polarity may need to be reversed to be used with the Montage.

  3. I just selected an empty patch and turned the global channel off. There is a message (!send on layer channels) that comes up. I then programmed a different channel for each layer and stored the program. Returning to the program with the global channel turned off, it remembers each of those channel assignments. If you turn global channel back on, it turns the layer assignments off. But they are remembered on a per program basis and will be instantiated whenever global channel is disabled.

    This information is disappointing. Ruins the idea of a Wave 2 w/ an organ module being a way to get an Electro with a serious synth engine. I guess the Nord Stage 3 Compact is still king of the roost. Unless you go Electro and pick up a JU-06 or something like that.

     

    Actually, you can send from the individual layers and the settings are stored per program.

     

    According to the manual, the setting per layer (send and receive) is stored if the Global channel is set to Off:

     

    When a Global MIDI channel is set, i.e. not set to Off, this page defines

    the receiving MIDI channels for Layers A/B/C/D.

    When the Global MIDI channel is set to Off, the channels defined on this

    page will both send and receive MIDI, and are stored per-program. In

    this scenario a Store operation needs to be performed for the settings to

    be recalled when the program is loaded again.

  5. There"s noise. Turn the volume down and play your keys while the mic is on. I use an old Atlas with a heavy but flat metal base, with a boom from whichever side is convenient for the sound person.

     

    Interesting. Howevery, none of the FOH guys I have worked with have ever heard any noise from it, and neither have I.

  6. Earlier in this thread, around 1943 or 1944, there were some who removed the grill and spray painted it black (with or without metallic sparkles) aand replaced it. You could tape off the logo if you like it.

     

    I did this and it looks great. The only thing is that the screws holding the grill in place can easily strip the material they are screwed into. Only needed to do it once, though. If I had to remove it regularly, I will install double-stick velcro to secure the grill.

  7. First, I sat in with another band at a bar gig with an extremely cramped stage. We were in a corner and my back was basically against a wall. I remembered the comments about facing the SS backwards and decided to give it a try. It worked really well and a guitar player i know said "the keys sound REALLY good tonight!"

     

     

    I played in a similar situation last Saturday night. I was backed up into a corner, but more like 120 degrees, not 90. I had my SS on top of my rack (which sits on a mixer stand) so it was less than two feet behind my head. I faced it to the wall askew so that each speaker reflected off a different wall. It was a little tough for me to hear (the band played really loud) but the bass player on the far end of the stage said he could here my parts perfectly. I am using a Nord Stage 2 and a Prophet 6. Nothing but compliments!
