  1. I play mostly 80s and Top 40, so I use a Nord Stage 3 and Nord Wave 2. Covers the few piano/organ parts effectively and gives me essentially 6 synths. Just Dance by Lady Gaga has 6 synth sounds and I can cover them all with this setup- -dj
  2. My longest run was 8 years with my touring cover band, the Favorites. We spend more time with each other than we did with our families. We played 5-6 nights a week for the entire time. -dj
  3. Artificial Intelligence is not intelligent. It cannot really "create" anything. The algorithms are programmed by human beings with millions of if/then statements. AI will never replace real musicians. -dj
  4. When I was touring, we blacked out all the audience facing logos on all of our gear. It makes for a very clean looking stage- -dj
  5. I still have one of the original bags from the two Invisible stands I bought. It is still in brand new condition! -dj
  6. Back in my touring days, I had a Yamaha CP-70 and a Prophet 5. Those two went all over the pacific northwest, Canada and Hawaii. That was about $8k in 1985 dollars, not counting the playback gear. Now for my local gigs, I use a Nord Stag 3 and Wave 2, about $7k in 2020 dollars, but much much lighter! I would never think of using less quality (or less expensive, if you will) keyboards for gigging, I always want to have the best sounding and most reliable boards. -dj
  7. Amazon shows 2-3 weeks delivery for the 18880 and the 18881 stacker is available now- -dj
  8. I just removed the extensions from the top arms (upper board was not wide) and took the arms off completely when I stored the stand it the case. Then I slid the sleeve down to secure the bottom arms and locked it. The two top arms take up very little room in the case when removed. -dj
  9. I have had separate music gear insurance forever. It was necessary when we were touring, and now it gives me peace of mind for the gigs I do now. MusicPro covers full replacement value, been using them as well now for many years. It is reasonably priced and easy to update and amend your list of covered gear. -dj
  10. Thanks, I will give them a call- -dj
  11. I came into possession of a guitar made by a luthier named Bruce Herron. He hails from Michigan, but I don't believe he makes instruments any more. Internet information shows he made electric mandolins (Mandoblaster) and Tele-like guitars (Psychocaster). The only dealer that seemed to carry his stuff was Elderly Instruments. The guitar has a great maple neck, nice hardware, and a very unusual white pearlescent finish. Anyone ever heard of this guy or have any information on his instruments? Thanks a lot- -dj
  12. When I was working, I had a number of custom cables made at Redco. Great quality, not expensive and all of the lengths can be customized. Now, I just use zip ties to put snakes together- -dj
  13. Many users have come up with workarounds, but none are as quick and elegant as Song Mode. With song mode, you have 5 programs per song, each 1 click away. Plus, you can have multiple songs using the same programs, so you don't have to duplicate the programs themselves, which is necessary in the NS4 in order to have multiple setlists that use the same program. -dj
  14. I had a KX-5 I played for years in bands. Actually, a great keybed and instrument- -dj
  15. I agree. I have had Nords for many years and don't understand this plethora of Piano offerings (Soft, Felt, Toy, etc.) that are useless for gigging in my opinion. Nord never really marketed to the film score crowd, it was always the Performance instrument. The amount of upright pianos is incredible, yet I don't use any of them. I suppose if you are doing a classical or jazz gig where the piano is super-exposed that would be one thing, but for live band performance, I have been using the Silver and White grands exclusively in my Pop/Rock cover bands. -dj
  16. Understood. The piano samples in the NW2 are not the same (even if sampled from the same instrument) as the ones in the Nord Piano library used in the Stage series. -dj
  17. Because of the new architecture, I don't think there will ever be Song Mode in the NS4- -dj
  18. Where did you get the sample? The Wave 2 cannot use samples from the Nord Piano Library, so it looks like you indeed are using a simple one layer sample as you were able to load it into the Wave 2. There are a couple of decent acoustic piano samples that ship with the instrument, try them out. Otherwise, Tim's suggestion is the way to go- -dj
  19. I use this all the time. Sometimes I play the sounds from the W2 from the NS3 keyboard, sometimes I don't. I disable the note-ons as shown in the video. -dj
  20. God, I wanted one of these so bad when I was starting out- -dj
  21. This technique also works with an arpeggiator as well. As you mention, the drummer needs to have good meter- -dj
  22. I always stand when I play, as I am a singer as well. I even stand at rehearsal. -dj
  23. Get the newer TS408, combo jacks, new tech, bluetooth control, more power, $249 US brand new- -dj
