  1. Note that the VPC1 has a "2-sensor mode" option in the rare event that your software doesn't play nice with 3-sensor actions. As noted in the software update changelog: Kind regards, James x
  2. Sam, I don't know if this will work, however the iOS has the ability to capture the screen (and audio) to a video file: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207935 Theoretically, you could enable this function, start recording the screen, switch to Spotify, play the track, then when it's finished, stop recording, then import the MP4 video into AudioStretch. I expect it may be blocked in certain apps such as Spotify, but give it a try anyway. Cheers, James x
  3. Yes I'm using one of the older iPad Airs (not sure which one). It runs the bread and butter sounds great. But it can get overloaded on some of the synths. Nice! I haven't taken the plunge on B-3X yet, but recently tied-up spare room in order to work from home, so can perhaps treat myself this weekend. James x
  4. That Mackie USB DI box looks interesting. How is it powered? You're still rocking the 1st gen iPad Air, right? (apologies if I already asked you that elsewhere...) James x
  5. YouTube cued this up for me automatically after watching the Hush clip: [video:youtube] Is the Hammond sound definitely coming from the iPad? I guess the church organ and synth lead are from the Kronos, but how does he switch instantly? Cheers, James x
  6. I also bought Galileo (v1 - haven't tried v2). It's a really impressive app, with low latency and so much to tweak...however I don't particularly enjoy the sound I dial-in, so have just stuck with my Electro 3 until now. You have the app on both platforms? Do you hear/notice any perceivable differences between the two? Cheers, James x
  7. Yes, that could be interesting, and another avenue for MPN to pursue. Completely off topic, but am I correct in thinking that you're Woody as in Woody Piano Shack? Great channel! I recently left a comment on one of your videos mentioning that I had seen your cameo on RetroManCave's excellent series about the BBC Micro. Cheers, James x
  8. Thanks guys! Nice playing, Jake! That's more my kind of sound, yeah! Cheers, James x
  9. Impressive, no doubt. However, this kind of music is not really my cup of organ tea. Can anyone post some examples of the app reproducing a Jimmy Smith "Root Down"-era Hammond sound, please? Cheers, James x
  10. That's a good point. Where are presets stored, and can they be backed-up to the cloud should the iPad be lost or replaced? Cheers, James x
  11. Hello Biggles, Thank you for your reply. Thanks I'll pass on the info to my colleagues at Kawai UK. Kind regards, James x
  12. Biggles, did you see the request in my post? Kind regards, James x
  13. Might have to bite the bullet and give this a try on my 1st gen iPad Air. I'm planning to replace it with a 2018 iPad Pro anyway, so no major loss if it plays like a dog...
  14. Hello Biggles, I wouldn't describe the ES110 as having a noisy or "claky" action, however I obviously haven't seen or played the instrument that you checked. Would you be willing to send me a PM with the name of the dealer, please? I'll ask my colleagues at Kawai UK if they can look into this matter. Kind regards, James x
  15. Kawai Japan produces the "Score Maker" software for Windows, which can recognise scores from scanned images, or even from an image shot on a smartphone. [video:youtube] Unfortunately, I don't believe the software is available outside of Japan, nor can the interface language be changed. Kind regards, James x
  16. Thanks for sharing your experiences folks! Cheers, James x
  17. Hello folks, Thank you for your useful responses in my previous thread about a Nord Electro-like MIDI controller for connecting to an iPad. I'm still on the look-out for just the right controller, however in the meantime, I'd like to improve the efficiency of my current setup. I create separate programs (memories) on my Electro 3 for each song I play with the band. My NE3 has 64 programs slots, each with an "A" and "B" bank for a total of 128 memories. On the rare occasions when we play a gig, I'll write down the setlist with the corresponding memory number and bank (e.g. "Soul Dressing: 34A"), and stick this notepaper to the left side of my Nord. Sometimes it's necessary to change patches quickly in between songs (for medleys etc.) so I'll rearrange the memories so that they are ordered sequentially. This means that I've pretty-much exhausted all of the memory slots, but there is quite a lot of repetition. I still have most of the setlist notes from dating back a few years, so thought it was about time that I collated all of the memories into a digital form, and found a more efficient way to manage the songs and memories. The Electro3 allows memories to be selected via a simple MIDI program change command. I have an iPad and a Quiccosound mi.1 Bluetooth MIDI adapter, so it should be possible to use the iPad to manage setlists, using an app to send the program change command to the Electro. I am aware of the Set List Maker app, and am reading good things about Camelot - the latter might be the best option, especially if/when I transition to using VIs on the iPad. Any thoughts or other recommendations? Cheers, James x
  18. Mark, the GP310 and GP510 models are updated versions of the GP300 and GP500 released five or so years ago...
  19. tfort, I agree...it seems we're just on the cusp of something interesting happening - maybe not a "game changer", but close enough to make a difference to the controller market. Kawai's focus is specifically on pianos, therefore 88-keys and realistic, weighted actions (e.g. VPC1). Cheers, James x
  20. Hello Mark, This is getting away from the original topic of the thread, but to respond to your comments/queries: May I ask which webpage you are referring to, please? The CS11 is essentially the CA97 (so one generation before the CA98) in an black/white polish upright piano cabinet. The new upright piano cabinet design of the CA99 will also be available in black polish, with the CS11 being discontinued shortly. Both the CS8 and CS11 were sold in the US, however are no longer in production and will therefore be harder to find in dealers stores. Kind regards, James x
  21. Thanks Synthaholic, I've gotten by without splits (except upper/lower manual for organ) on my NE3 for years, so I probably would not need to use splits for the kind of music I'm playing. I would need sounds to change quickly (e.g. piano --> EP --> organ), within a second or so for medleys, so would presumably need to have all the sounds pre-loaded, but doubt I'd need more than one at a time...if that makes sense. Cheers, James x
  22. Printing in Chrome appears to work fine here, although the content is spread over multiple pages, making the specs a little harder to read. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1mHswTWYURffHLm66ru0P-Tfk5JN3yO0T Kind regards, James x
  23. Yes, I'm pretty sure adjusting the drawbars in the app (from the touchscreen) is possible, but I think I'd prefer physical controls. Cheers, James x
  24. Heavier and smaller than which model? The previous generation CA98? The CA99 is 7cm taller and a couple of kilos lighter than the CA98. https://www.kawai-global.com/product_comparison/detail.php?n=3632,3565&ct=36 Kind regards, James x
