  1. X rays show cracks or breaks in bones, but soft tissue, such as tendons or ligaments, don't show up very well in a normal X ray. Rodgers will probably have an MRI to show what kind of damage there is to his Achilles tendon. A complete tear of the tendon means his season is over.
  2. There is poor customer service, there is bad customer service, and then there is this. Jeff Kiesel seems to have a genuine hatred of his customers. He appears to not understand that, while the customer is not always right, the customer is always the one who spends, or does not spend, the money. Banning customers from ever buying your products just because they had a complaint? That is not the way to stay in business.
  3. Over fifty years ago there was this guitarist named Jimi Hendrix who used coiled cords just about all the time. As I recall, he was a pretty good guitar player.
  4. It sounds like busking is putting some money in your pocket while you're having fun doing it. That's how it should be. 😄
  5. Further proof that no good deed goes unpunished.
  6. I wonder if a piece of construction grade dense styrofoam covered with a couple layers of fiberglass mat and resin would work? It would be strong and lightweight, but I don't know how durable.
  7. Wednesday, August 16th, the package with the tracking number was in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, which is a suburb on the northwest side of Chicago. The next day, Thursday August 17th, it went to Indianapolis, Indiana, where it is apparently spending the weekend. Incidentally, the USPS.com website has none of this information. I'm getting the tracking info from China.
  8. This morning I checked the tracking number I have for this order. Although there are four packages arriving, I have only been given one tracking number, and that showed that my shipment just cleared Customs this morning. So you can imagine my surprise when two of the packages showed up on my front porch this afternoon. As far as the other two packages, they'll get here when they get here.
  9. It is in the hands of the USPS now. Actually, I should call it they, not it, since it is four boxes that each contain 25 knives. Hopefully the USPS won't lose a box, like they did six months ago.
  10. The day before I wrote this, which would be July 25th, I ordered 100 switchblade knives from China. They were shipped out on July 31st, and according to the tracking number, they arrived somewhere in the United States this morning (August 12th). Lets see how long it takes the United States Postal Service to get them from wherever they are right now to my house in southeast Michigan. If I had to place a bet, I would go with Monday, August 21st. We'll see.
  11. Your instruments are most likely covered by either homeowner's or renter's insurance, but if you do have to make a claim, proof of your instruments, such as photos or videos to verify that you really do have them, may be necessary.
  12. That is a very noticeable guitar.
  13. I remember when I had a package arriving by Fedex from China. It went to Hong Kong, then Seoul, South Korea, then somewhere in Taiwan, then Tokyo, Japan, then Anchorage, Alaska, then it finally made it to my house. I am so jealous of that package. I would love to go visit all those places.
  14. I have not had any problems with Fedex, but I have had quite a few problems with packages delivered by the U.S. Postal Service, especially packages sent from China. It's just one of those things we have to put up with, even though we really don't want any delays of any kind.
  15. You know, I'm not in any hurry to get a new guitar. I can afford to do a lot more research before I cough up any money to anyone. Although technically, I would be vomiting money, not coughing it up, and that sounds rather unpleasant.
  16. Hmmm, I'll have to dig up Courtney's phone number and give her a call. She's married to a guy who is friends with Dean Zelinsky. I wouldn't want Dean to think I was an undercover spy for Gibson. Once I get my HUGE situation taken care of, I'll make some phone calls.
  17. I had been kicking around the idea of contacting Dean Zelinsky to see if he could build a custom Flying V guitar for me. Looks like that idea is on hold for the time being.
  18. Until you play through a BBE Sonic Maximizer pedal, and then you say "Oh my God, I have to get one of these!"
  19. I remember Jim Pate. What a really great guy. He knew a lot about music, and loved sharing his knowledge here. I sure learned quite a bit from him.
  20. Happy Birthday To You. Sorry if I disappointed anyone, but I'm just being honest.
  21. I just did an online search, and I could not find any evidence of Carvin Audio ever filing for bankruptcy. If they did file Chapter 11, that would have explained a lot. Instead, they left a lot of people baffled.
  22. I could be wrong, but it is my understanding that the founder, Lowel Kiesel, had four sons, and he named the company Carvin after the first syllables of two sons, Carson and Vincent. After Lowel's death, the company split into two separate companies, with Jeff and another brother whose name escapes me making guitars, while the other brothers stuck with the electronics under the name Carvin Audio. Carvin Audio has gotten rid of a lot of their product line, most notably their guitar amplifiers. I check out the Carvin Audio website every few months or so, just to see if they have anything new. Neither company advertises in guitar Player anymore, although when Lowel was alive, they had at least one ad every month.
  23. I have a Carvin guitar and a Kiesel guitar, and I am very happy with both of them. When I bought my Kiesel about five and a half years ago (I think), I dealt with Jeff Kiesel on the phone, and he treated me great. It sounds like things have changed a lot since then. That's a shame. I don't know all the specific details in this situation, but from what I've read, it sure doesn't make Kiesel look very good. I hope they (Kiesel) gets everything straightened out, because I would hate to see a fine company like that go down the tubes.
