  1. I have all except the pedal board. Although my Digitech multi-effects pedals act as pedal boards when I am using them.
  2. Ike Turner, Tina's late husband, is credited by many people as having written the first rock and roll song, titled "Rocket 88", back in March 1951. Ike was a lousy husband, but a terrific musician.
  3. Saturday evening I drove down to Lake Erie, to take a photo of the full moon rising above the horizon. It was sunny all day, so I figured I would finally have the chance to take that photo that I have been wanting to take for several year. The full moon was supposed to rise at 9:08 p.m., but at 9:30, when I still could not see the moon, I gave up and drove home. It was dull and hazy on the horizon, and no moonlight came through. The moon was visible about an hour later, higher up in the sky. But it looks like I'll have to wait until July 3rd to have another chance for that shot.
  4. It's that old saying in the real estate business: Location, location, location. You found a good spot, and you were playing music that people wanted to listen to. That's great. I hope you have a lot of fun, and get a lot of cash from it.
  5. Adolf Hitler really was a vegetarian, as confirmed by one of his official food tasters, as well as a friend of mine who was a World War II historian. Now, if you're in the mood to laugh, you'd better be sitting down for this. The main reason Adolf Hitler was a vegetarian wasn't because he felt that he was morally superior to others (although he probably did think that way). Eating meat made Hitler fart a lot. It's hard to be billed as a "Great Leader" when you are a farting machine.
  6. Winston, I do believe that you are 100% correct.
  7. On a serious note, either mineral oil or lemon oil are the best choices, in my far from humble opinion, to put on the natural wood of your fretboard.
  8. Surfergirl, as a businessman for forty years now, one thing I have learned that many businesspeople don't learn is that it doesn't matter what you like. You're not the one giving you money. Obviously, the people giving money to you and your sister like that distorted guitar sound. I'm guessing that others who are out busking all play that blah blah blah boring stuff, while the two of you came out and played something different that sounded good. Keep up the good work. And speaking of busking, yesterday, out in front of the gas station there was a guy strumming one chord on a Fender acoustic guitar that was out of tune. I gave him a dollar and told him his E sounded more like an E flat. He said he's a drummer, and that he doesn't normally play the guitar. That makes sense. A guy out there banging away on a drum set would probably chase off most people. I was tempted to go back home, print out some chords, and go back and give him the sheet, so he could play more than just the one chord (it looked like E major). If I see him again, I'll give him a set of new strings so his guitar doesn't sound dull and uninspiring.
  9. I just got the new Klon clone pedal in the mail about fifteen minutes ago. I opened up the box, pulled out the pedal, got a phillips head screwdriver to remove the backplate and install one nine volt battery, and then I took it upstairs to try it out. I used my Kiesel guitar going into the Klon clone, and then into my Epiphone Electar 10 tube amp (and no, I don't want to sell it). I set the volume on the amp at three, the gain at one, and the bass, mid and treble knobs all at five. With the pedal turned off, it was a basic clean plink plink plink kind of sound. I then turned the pedal on, with all three knobs at five (on a zero to ten scale) position. Using all five pickup switch positions on the guitar, it sounded like a slightly louder version of the basic clean plink plink plink. I then turned the gain on the amp up to three, and tried it again. Sonic sledgehammer time! That's the kind of overdrive guitar sound that I wanted to hear. I'm going to play around with this pedal later on, when I get back home from riding the Waverunner. I'm thinking of taking the guitar, pedal and amp out to the gun club this week. We have fifty acres, gunfire, and a small airport next door, so I doubt the neighbors out there will gripe about me turning the volume up to ten to see if I can unleash an onslaught of sonic devastation. I shall keep everyone posted.
  10. Barry, when I bought my Epiphone Limited Edition 1959 Les Paul Standard two years ago, the original intent by Epiphone was to make it an actual limited model, with only so many made. Due to the popularity of that guitar, they are still making it, but no longer call it a Limited Edition. So, in my far from humble opinion, you should get a guitar based upon what you really want, and not because you're told that there will be only so many made.
  11. https://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/open-box-epiphone-adam-jones-les-paul-custom-art-collection-julie-heffernans-study-for-self-portrait-with-rose-skirt-and-a-mouse-electric-guitar Here is that guitar on Musiciansfriend.com for $156 less. And if you want to spend even less money and still get a really nice Epiphone Les Paul, I have one of these: https://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/epiphone-1959-les-paul-standard-outfit-electric-guitar/l74925000002000 The price on the 1959 Les Paul was $799 (I think) when I bought it two years ago, then it went to $899, and now it's $999. That inflation is a real son of a Bob.
  12. I just bought it. The total price, including shipping, was $31.03. It will probably take 3-4 weeks to get here, or longer, based upon how long my other purchases have taken since the start of this year. But when it does eventually get here, I will write about it, good, bad, or otherwise.
  13. https://www.dhgate.com/product/diy-klon-overdrive-pedal-professional-overdrive/269178263.html?d1_page_num=1&dspm=pcen.sp.list.4.TnOmM2DWsroNgrPTm7sg&resource_id=269178263&scm_id=search.LIST..@.prerank001|3|0|esm2|7_5|ER-B|gold|newes|7_5.B.#s1-3-1;searl|1051276258:4 I found this on Dhgate.com. It is also a Klon clone, and it says: You're getting a hand-made, fully-tested pedal using the original spec FET-based op-amps - meaning low noise operation and smooth top-end response. The 18v circuit gives plenty of clean headroom, whilst the treble control gives plenty of tone-shaping flexibility. Great for pushing a gritty valve amp into 'screaming' territory, these pedals also provide enough grit to stand alone as a medium-gain 'crunch' box. Controls are for 'Gain', 'Treble', and 'Output'. Right now it's $35.03, including shipping, plus I have a $4 coupon. I may just get one for the fun of it on Thursday. I'll sleep on it and see what I feel like doing about eleven hours from now.
  14. With the temps in the low to mid 80's these past few days, I've been out on the lakes riding my Waverunner, and I'll be out riding again in a few hours. Monday we may see some snow, with the low temperatures going down close to freezing. Pure Michigan.
  15. A few bungee cords will help hold things down or in place.
  16. Maybe Chris and Rich finally realized that their solo careers went nowhere, and were going to stay nowhere.
  17. Right now it is 12:38 p.m., and since I live just west of Detroit, I figure between 2 and 3 this afternoon all that gloominess will be on top of me. Oh well, April showers bring higher lake levels so I can ride my Waverunner this Sunday, and a few days next week.
  18. The exchange traded fund (ETF) Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund, stock symbol XLK, has Apple and Nvidia, along with Visa, MasterCard, Salesforce, Microsoft, and other tech stocks. Over the last ten years it has returned an average of 18.23% per year. And in the interest of full disclosure, I just so happen to own some.
  19. As a former stockbroker, commodities broker, registered securities principal, registered investment advisor, and current stock and options trader, I think I know a little about investing. Right now, you should be able to get around $1,000 for the bass (I looked it up). A balanced portfolio with an emphasis on longterm growth returning 15% a year, compounded for twenty years, would become $16,366.54. I don't think that Jazz bass will sell for $16K twenty years from now, unless you become really famous. With an online brokerage account you can buy stocks with zero commission, so you can acquire one or two shares in a number of different companies. I would recommend about 75% in growth stocks and exchange traded funds (ETFs), and 25% in high dividend paying ETFs, and reinvesting the dividends into more growth stocks. This is a strategy that has done very well for myself and some friends. If you need more info or advice, please don't hesitate to ask me. After all, I've been making money in the stock market since 1979, and I started running my own brokerage office when I was 28, so I have a bit of experience.
  20. I have locking tuners on my Carvin and Kiesel guitars. Once I figured out how to use them, I loved them and cannot understand why anyone would not want them if they could have them on their guitar. But, that's just my far from humble opinion.
  21. I have never met Noel Gallagher. I have never been bitten by a rattlesnake. I have never been eaten by a shark. I have never been shot (although I have been shot at). I have never been run over by a truck. I have never been hit by a meteorite. I could continue, but I think everyone will get the point.

    Bad Monkeys

I just looked on Ebay, and right now, there are three listings for Bad Monkey pedals located in the United States that are selling for $107.50 or less. One lesson in business that I learned many years ago is that you can ask any price you want on anything, but getting that price is another matter.
  23. I'm surprised that Jimmy Page and Ronnie Wood are not a part of this (yet). They are both longtime friends of Jeff.
