  1. I was in suburban Cleveland on a business trip over the weekend, and while I saw a lot of people wearing Indians jackets, hats, and shirts, and plenty of pictures of Chief Wahoo, I did not see one single Guardians jacket, hat, or shirt.
  2. Yeah, I was just having fun with my new Sheldon Cooper time machine.
  3. Hmmm, with the exception of one word, this looks awfully familiar. Now, where have I seen this before?
  4. And later on this evening, if the sky is clear, you get to watch the full moon rise on the eastern horizon while the sun is setting on the western horizon.
  5. I am one of those who have responded to some of the "one hit wonders", and I rarely ever get a reply from them. But I keep on doing it, because it keeps things from going stale here.
  6. At the current exchange rate of $1.11 US dollars per British pound (I just looked it up), they pay $22.20 to $33.30 per song.
  7. I used to be an Ebay Power Seller until PayPal banned me for life (but that's another story for another day). I have shipped all sorts of things all over the country, as well as all over the world. The term I like to use for packages that I ship out is "kickproof". Imagine some guy is working for the shipping company (Postal Service, UPS, Fedex, DHL, whatever). He hates the world, he thinks the world hates him back, and he's going to take his frustrations out by kicking the box that you shipped out. Kuru gave some excellent advice, based upon his experience. And don't be chintzy with the packing tape. Use as much as you need to in order to prevent your box from accidentally popping open. I've had boxes shipped to me from China that were so heavily wrapped in tape that it took me a few minutes with a razor blade to finally open the box. But everything inside was safe and secure, so I didn't complain.
  8. Sorry, but I don't see $14,700 worth of guitar.
  9. And when Fuzzy Wuzzy was a baby bear, he loved using my arm as a chew toy.
  10. The Kiesel (formerly Carvin) bulletin board is about to become history. The usage has dropped to a point where it was decided to just pull the plug. For instance, under the category Kiesel Basses/Carvin Basses, the last message was posted on May 19th. It's not much of a surprise, but it's still too bad.
  11. This could just be my imagination, but I am getting the impression that he doesn't love you.
  12. The big question is, could we hit another asteroid with a nuclear bomb and blow it apart? Because an asteroid or comet that is big enough to make impact instead of burning up in the atmosphere could make life miserable for us.
  13. I own three acoustic guitars: a Yamaha, an Epiphone, and an Alvarez. In my very biased opinion, I would recommend either the Epiphone or the Yamaha out of the ones you list. I'm sure the other three are good guitars, but my experience is that Epiphones and Yamahas are really tough to beat for the price you pay.
  14. Welcome to the Guitar Player Forum, Chongjasmine. Here are two websites that I go to whenever I have any questions or ideas about either chords or scales. WWW.Chorderator.com shows just about every chord you can imagine, and hundreds more that you never imagined. WWW.Scalerator.com shows all kinds of scales in every key, which is useful in figuring out what chords go into what key, and vice versa. Next, I am going to mention two common chord progressions, the one four five and the one minor six four five. A great deal of songs in rock and roll, country, folk, and pop music use one or the other of these chord progressions, so I assume that worship music is similar. Let me use the key of C major for this example, since C major does not have any sharp or flat notes. The C major scales is C D E F G A B, so a one four five progression means you would play the chords C (the one), F (the four), and G (the five). I am using major chords for this example, just to make things easy. To get started, tap your foot in a steady kind of slow beat, then strum the C chord eight times, then the F chord eight times, and the G chord eight times, and keep repeating. You may notice that what you just played sounds like a lot of songs you have heard before. Now, lets expand your playing a little. This time use the one minor-six four five chord progression. In the key of C, they are C, A minor, F, and G. Once you get good with both chord progressions in C, try other keys. This is where both Chorderator and Scalerator come in really handy. This alone should keep you busy for at least a few weeks, probably more. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask anyone here. There are a lot of people here who REALLY know guitars and music, and we are all happy to share our knowledge and experiences.
  15. Hmmm, I've spent hundreds of dollars with Musician's Friend, and they never call me. I guess they don't like me very much. I'm mildly distraught, but I'll get over it.
  16. Sweetwater has eight Digitech pedals listed on their website right now, but no multi effect pedals, such as my RP1000. I'm interested in seeing if Digitech is back, or merely clearing out old inventory.
  17. This topic didn't die, it was merely hibernating, waiting for the time to awaken and unleash havoc on an unsuspecting populace. I have an Earthquaker Arpanoid, which is unlike anything else I have ever seen or heard.
  18. Comet 67P has napthalene, benzoic acid, benzaldehyde, but no mention of any amino acids. Interesting.
  19. One word reply: No. Two word reply: Hell no. Three word reply: No bleeping way! I was supposed to go out to a nearby lake today, but some mid afternoon thunderstorms popped up out of nowhere. I have been called many things in my life, but human lightning rod isn't one of them.
  20. I just got one of these last month, and since summer doesn't last very long here in Michigan, I've been out riding this about two or three times each week. In fact, I just got the oil changed today, so in less than three hours I will be headed out to Union Lake, to go ride around that lake. And probably Saturday morning, I will go out on Lake Erie and hopefully hit the top speed of 53 mph, assuming the waves will be cooperating. As far as watching tv, I pretty much watch Big Bang Theory reruns and the news.
  21. Instead of posting my own opinion, I will simply agree 100% with what Caevan said.
  22. Pine Knob is about a half hour drive north of me, and I've gone to quite a few concerts there since the Seventies. Yesterday, the temperature reached 90 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Around the time that Carlos Santana collapsed, I was sitting on my driveway, pulling out weeds that grew in the expansion cracks. I had to quit early, because the heat and humidity was getting to me. So it does not surprise me that the heat and humidity got to Carlos as well. Give him a couple quarts of cold Gatorade and a good breakfast, and he'll be fine.
  23. Guitarfetish.com has seventy five pickguards for Strat, and all are priced under $22.
  24. My last hangover was November 1997. I was the campaign manager for my friend's re-election to city council, and it was an exceptionally dirty campaign against him. He won anyways, and we celebrated hard that night when the voting results came in. The next day I was at his house, and his wife was nagging me about being so hungover. I guess she figured that since I wasn't married, I needed a surrogate nagging wife. I really didn't. The day after that, I was still feeling lousy, and I had a big Chamber of Commerce event I had to attend. I think my fellow Chamber members were pleased that I was so quiet, instead of being my usual outspoken self. I have never been drunk since that day, and I have no desire to get that drunk ever again. I still drink beer, but not very often.
  25. Years ago, Michelob came out with a dark beer called Michelob Dark. Not only was it my favorite beer, but they had the absolute greatest radio commercial of all time. Comedian Martin Mull said "Are you afraid to try Michelob Dark because it's too rich and full-bodied? That's what you look for in a date, isn't it?" YES!
