  1. Add your brother (on 2nd guitar) to the tribute band when the original band had only 1 guitar player in it. Also, he couldn't play worth ##?!!
  2. Hi, I've tried Pianoteq quite awhile ago, and didn't like it. But I thought I'd give it another try, given the glowing comments. I just downloaded the demo for version 7. For the folks that swear by it -- which models are you using? Did you have to do a lot of tweaks to be happy with it?
  3. How does the PC4 VB3 compare to the organ in the old K2600's? (That's the last Kurzweil I owned)
  4. I found this MainStage course very helpful -- https://courses.sundaysounds.com/courses/mainstage-mastery/lectures/2745591
  5. I had a pair I used for keyboard monitors for awhile. One of them just stopped working and I moved to QSCs K-10s at that point. But the bottom line was that the sound quality just wasn't good enough for the keys.
  6. I owned a Sub 37 a few years ago. If i needed something like that again, I would probably seriously check out the Pro 3. The different filters, 3 osc., and built in effects would make a big difference to me. Probably would be hard to find one used -- but the additional features may make it worth getting a new one. Also, the Sub 37 was larger than I had expected -- it's about 7 inches high to accommodate the tilted layout.
  7. Sometimes it's worth it to just apologize and move on, even if you know you weren't in the wrong.
  8. I've been thinking about using this one -- https://www.amazon.com/Gibraltar-Electronic-Drum-Mount-Station/dp/B0021VPOHA It looks a little more sturdy than the music stand types and only weighs 10lbs.
  9. That's what the sale is primarily - click the link... I must be missing something. All the full versions seem to be at the regular price. It looks like it"s only updates and upgrades that are on sale.
  10. Does Native Instruments hover have sales on their full versions? I"ve never used Komplete, but I would now be interested if it was discounted.
  11. It's not better to be out. The 66% were not "quaranteed" -- they were just "staying at home". The source of infection was most likely visitors or from surfaces of things being brought into their homes. Cuomo said the survey results were 'surprising' but showed people were not making the right personal choices even when at home.
  12. I don't think there's a way to disable the presets within the app. I ended up limiting the range of my controller to not play those low notes.
  13. Apparently there's a known bug on the RD-88 (similar issue as on the Fantom) where Mainstage patch changes are unable to be sent (or received) by an external device if the MainStage integration is installed. The only way to make it send patch changes it to completely uninstall the MainStage profile, which of course means the Mainstage integration is essentially useless.
  14. Got my RD-88 yesterday. Background -- I've owned a Yamaha CP4, CP73, and currently use either a Kronos 73 (+ Nord Stage 3) or Roland RD2000 (for solo piano) to gig. I'd be mainly using it for live performing -- main goal is to reduce the weight (replace my bottom boards). I'm also evaluating using MainStage as a sound source to supplement the RD-88. It would also be nice to be able to use the built-in audio interface versus bringing another piece of gear. RD-88 Pros: - Acoustic piano sound (I was actually quite impressed) - key feel is lighter weight versus my other weighted boards, which is ok. - weight - 30lbs! RD-88 Cons: - Electric Pianos not so great (huge step down from RD-2000 and Kronos) - No knob to quickly go through patches -- have to keep pressing the increase button. - Height of the keyboard was surprising (more than 6 inches). This is probably due to the speakers on the bottom. This required me to make changes to my stand height and space between my top keyboard. - Wall wart (why?), Also, it's probably the shortest wall wart cord I've ever seen. - Screen is really small - MainStage integration is disappointing so far, but I need to spend more time. The screen shows nothing more than the current patch. - Audio Interface issues - can't figure out how to control the RD sounds and MainStage together without also having the RD sending its regular sound out the Audio outs. - The MainStage / Audio Interface documentation is confusing and really not very helpful. I'm hoping I can iron out these last few
  15. I'd say no way. Also, 6 feet may not be enough if people are opening their mouths and singing...
  16. Nice song, but I find her heavy use of reverb a bit distracting.
  17. I've been thinking of starting to use MainStage live (my Kronos 73 seems like it's been gaining weight everytime I have to move it). Are there some 3rd party VSTs that aren't that resource hungry? I've heard Pianoteq is one. Is there a good organ, or sample players?
  18. Another thing you can try -- get a good solo piano recording on your phone, plug it directly into the board (stereo - panned left and right) and see if you can make that sound good. That should tell you if the speakers are salvageable.
  19. I bought it too. I'm using it on my ipad with my Kronos 73. I love it so far - it has sounds I've always wanted to be able to use live. I didn't need anything additional -- I already was using the iPad for ForScore. Impressive.
  20. Are sliders really that expense to put on something like this?
  21. Do you have more pics that demonstrate the finished product of the mods you made? I get the 'foot' you screwed in but not the broom handle. Am not picturing the final result of that was. Here's a few more pics from different angles. I also put on some electrical tape to protect the keyboard from the bolt and nut.
  22. How does the washer hold the broom handle in place, and how do you attach the iPad holder? I may try this mod myself (I use K&M tablet holders). For the broom handle - I drilled a hole near the bottom of it, then put a bolt through a rounded washer on the outside. There's a nut with a big washer holding it tight on the other side (facing the top keyboard). (There's a already a slot at the top of the keyboard stand, so no need to drill into the stand) My iPad holder has a screw-in attachment that attaches to a rounded pole (like a mic stand).
  23. Here's a photo of a couple of modifications I made to my 18880: First, in order to keep the top keyboard angled, I screwed in a plastic "foot" on the end of each bar. This keeps the top keyboard from slipping down and there's no need to use those huge pins that hold the top keyboard (and get in the way of playing the lower keyboard). Second, I added a piece of a broom handle (painted black), secured with a rounded washer, which provides a rounded and elevated attachment for my iPad holder.
  24. I have both the Kronos and Stage 3. A used Kronos 73 would be a lot cheaper the a Nord stage 3 88 and would have flexible splits and more sounds available. Some disadvantages of the Kronos would be the weight and learning curve is probably tougher versus the Nord. Also the organ sound and controls are better on the Nord, imo.
  25. I found the new sounds somewhat disappointing -- but some of the pads do sound ok. I agree on the comments on the bread and butter stuff. I really need accordion, violin, etc. And there's got to be an opportunity to improve those organs. I don't need clone quality, just something useble. Compared to the Roland RD2000 -- there's just a scarcity of what I would call essential sounds in the additional sound category.
