  1. I also carry a spare in my gig bag! Very inexpensive insurance. Never had an issue with my Yamaha but I did have a Hammond SK-1 plug somehow get bent which wouldn"t fit in the socket. Had to buy a couple one for use and one spare for the gig bag.
  2. I use two in my live rig. One from my Yamaha S70XS to my Roland Integra and one from the Integra to a Roland XV5050 in the rack. Now I have accumulated many of them over the years in a storage box in my practice room. Too many to count!
  3. I have been thinking about getting into the software side of keyboards. I am planning on using my Mac air that has the Intel 8th generation i5 and 8gig of memory and small SSD. This would be used soley for my live rig. Which should be adequate for what I am thinking about doing. I found a great deal on a scarlet 18i20 3rd gen interface and would like to get the NI Kontakt 6 package. My hope is to use it in my live rig for a few specific 3rd party sounds like fiddle, some piano and horn parts. Any thoughts on the Scarlett 18i20 before I pull the trigger?( Besides the great deal, I like that it can be rack mounted and doesn't sport the wall wart power supply. I know it might be overkill for this rig but the price is just a little more than the smaller units.) Thoughts???
  4. I Velcro my half moon to the side of my SK-1. I have to reinforce it with some gaff tape to hold it tightly in place. But it works great!
  5. Geoff- thanks!! Be great if it does come across but no big deal if not. Cheers!
  6. I have a couple from years past, and still occasionally use mine for rehearsals for a quick small setup. I would offer $60 and see if they bite. Certainly worth it.
  7. Geoff - Tried this, but nothing yet?? How long does it take to get the offer from NI?
  8. Ordered a Midas M32R mixer and Gator case. And a Studio 12W Leslie. The wood version. Unfortunately everything is on back order until late September.
  9. As Dave mentioned, when I"m not gigging I try to catch the local keys players. (Love to catch Escape when I can.) In addition, there are 4 of us keys players here in dallas that swap gigs as needed. Not too many keys players in the area but there are quite a few I don"t know. Although in the country music scene I know a good number of the players. Although this forum has been an awesome source for keyboard information. My thanks to all. On another note I am part of a new project in Dallas that has two keys players, percussion, female acoustic, bass, guitar and drums. It"s brand new but a lot of fun so far. I am doing primarily organ and the other keys player handles the acoustic piano stuff. We split up the other parts accordingly. Really nice not having to worry about covering so many parts myself. Doing a wide variety of material, mainly showcasing vocals and of course keys.
  10. Is the dimensions of the plug on the Mojo power supply 5.5 X 2.1mm?
  11. I have used a pro level Bluetooth receiver by Denon for audio and it has worked flawlessly. As long as you keep the distance between the two relatively short. A couple other pro companies have made other models recently. Again we used them live for audio only for a couple years now. About 50 or so gigs a year. Break music essentially. Never an issue.
  12. Never seen one of those, but that would certainly be a possibility. I like it! Thanks!!
  13. I agree. Drives me nuts. (Just bought the lower manual last week.) Been thinking about a small piece of Velcro on the back of the keyboard.
  14. Hey Joe, they are playing in Dallas Sunday at the Bomb Factory. I was hoping to go but can"t!
  15. I like it. Thought I was on the wrong site at first!!
  16. A number of years ago we were opening for a major smooth jazz (saxophone) artist here in Dallas. I arrived fairly early to the event since we typically we have to setup around the headliners gear. To my surprise the stage was completely bare other than front of house, stage monitors, risers and lights. Huge National act type stage sponsored by the local smooth jazz radio station. So I asked the FOH guy about the stage plot and setupsetup. In the conversation I asked him about the headliner's back line gear and he said they were brining there own. Not unusual other than it not being there. I said wow, since we were only a couple of hours away from start time. He said I know, just go ahead and setup and shrugged his shoulders and walked away. So we setup and started the show. Long story short, the headliner band arrives with only their personal gear, saxes, guitars, a small carry on keyboard rack and a few other items. Apparently there was a mix up and back line was never ordered. We ended up playing an hour longer as the production team scrambled. They ended up using our gear and the show went on without a hitch. Really nice bunch of guys and were extremely appreciative. One gig I will always remember.
  17. I use one for my Hammond SK-1 73. Fits perfectly.....although don"t remember which model number it was.
  18. Geeez. Now that tune is in my head and I can"t get it out!!
  19. Cubase for many many years. Serves my purpose so I never really had a reason to change.
  20. I have used the XR18 for recording in the past and it has worked out well. Although you do need a laptop or desktop to record to. I have not experienced any issues with loading the required drivers on my laptop. Another option might be the XR 32 rack and the X-live recording card which allows you to record directly to a memory card. The X-live expansion card for the X32 runs about $130. This setup allows for recording up to 16 individual tracks simultaneously in an uncompressed wave format. Can be expanded to 32 tracks with additional inputs. I have had great results with the X32 as well.
