  1. Well, this is the first time I remember buying something and then a new version comes out a 40 days later. . (guess it had to happen once) Differences I notice so far between S --- SX: 43 lbs --- 46 lbs Eminence Beta-10A --- Faital Pro speakers (anyone know difference? I remember from owning guitar amps that Eminence makes some pretty cool speakers) SX says "Equally suitable for both hardware and software instruments" -- my 610S does annoying USB hum when Key Largo is running software instruments, but not when YC88 is using USB audio. Total power: 650 watts RMS --- 500–1,000W design with 250 watts RMS per channel
  2. on the SK Pro there's the "virtual multi-contact" approach too, which, other than the great sound, might be why it feels more immediate and realistic (subjectively speaking) for organ than most kbs. And I really like how expression pedal behaves/feels. (I use EXP-50J) I have a buyer lined up for NP5 73 but it's tough to let go. Nord APs, to me, are just the best sound-wise at translating to different live settings. I wish NP5 had the effects options NS has (delay feedback knob is a big one for me) and a pitch bender. . Could attempt to sell several keyboards (YC88 also) and get NS4, but it's difficult to let go of aforementioned SK Pro features. Younger me would appreciate having the synth options on NS4 but now the gigs seem to be AP/EP/B3/and just occasional synth. . I wonder how much of a factor the triple sensor contact system is on NS4 compact especially, and other 2 models. Maybe this is more useful and responsive for piano than organ/synth sounds? Leaning towards looking for a good deal on NS3 compact or 88. While I spent 10 excellent years with NS2c as my only keyboard, I have only very briefly experienced NS3 goodness. (had one for a week once)
  3. Remembering now, I do engage "Bypass" on SK Pro, when using Vent.
  4. There's the Hammond soft bag too. https://www.thomannmusic.com/hammond_softbag_sk_pro.htm Would've bought this but it was out of stock at the time (or shipping was too much), so went with Gator bag you mentioned. It fits nicely/snugly. If I end up hitting the road more often, I'll look for a Pelican that the Gator bag will fit inside. Although, the SKB you posted does look cool, and more affordable than most road cases these days.
  5. not sure, guess I'd have to use my ear to test effect of "Bypass" vs. "Stop" button.
  6. I've been digging SK Pro sim lately too, and assigned Overdrive to mod wheel. -- Only occasionally bypassed Vent II but don't remember any popping. -- Another reason I moved on is it sometimes took up to 30 minutes to get 11 pin cable inserted into SK Pro, although nothing looked too bent out of shape. Remote controlling the Vent with SK Pro buttons was kinda nice, and might be the only reason I'd want a Vent instead of Mini. Left all other settings at default mostly.
  7. Hopefully not me Day 1, had to toothpick trick in 1 of lil rubber feet on bottom, and it occasionally makes a faint hiss for a minute when idle. But not too worried ‘bout it. Got a tuki cover for chilly nites.
  8. Think I might've bought the last kp-610s from Sweetwater. Hopefully there's not a new and improved model coming soon. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/KP610S--motion-sound-kp-610s-650w-2x10-inch-keyboard-amp Haven't gotten to try it with loud band yet, but alone it gets loud and sounds warmer (for organ esp.) than my 2 K12's. Setup/breakdown should be a breeze. 🤞
  9. VC at this price is real tempting. I'd like to try this keybed, the EP's, Dynamics knob velocity adjustment and the tube saturation. But I'm already set (and broke) too, with SK Pro or Keylab Mk II on top of NP5 73 or YC88 + MacBook Air. Yep, the Sweetwater 2 year warranty is appealing and being able to return to local Guitar Center is too. Just to mention another vendor, Alto Music being tax-free draws me in often. I've called them a couple times and they're quite responsive too.
  10. this is the part I'd like to avoid, because it requires a hub + more setup/breakdown. .
  11. I've been thinking of doing something like this too. There may be some advanced setting that will do it in zones etc., but I don't think so. Actually "refined" this ideascale submission today, but am not very hopeful that it will make the cut: https://yamahasynth.ideascale.com/c/profile/25698/my-ideas/author/stage/all/ideas/unspecified --- Posted on Yamaha site: Refining this further (because it would be a convenient feature on my YC88): "USB audio to external" - would allow a separate keyboard (which uses Yamaha's MIDI DIN in) to play sounds from tablet/phone/computer (which uses YC** USB Audio interface). Synths/organs/etc. from tablet/phone/computer could then be played by the separate keyboard. Personally, this would allow me to play B-3X/Omnisphere/Keyscape/Arturia V9 with an unweighted action, instead of YC88's weighted action.
  12. ok, hammonddave. Yep, it was a penalty. (that is often not called) the chiefs are one of my fave teams to watch, Mahomes and Reid are admirable and creative compared to most of the league. But, they even seemed a little let down, standing around in victory formation for 1.5 minutes. . That ref was a stickler, and possibly even a jabroni/gibroni. (sp)
  13. McCoy + Brecker = i need a time machine to go see this show. Avery Sharpe and Aaron Scott are killing it also.
  14. She’s out of my league but I’ll give it a shot. Drop me a PM, Yuja.
  15. let's add 4 more refs, so we can call the myriad of microsecond holds that happen on every play. Many times the foul is blatant and not called. It's been inconsistent for years, is a major gamechanger and seems like an important thing that modern technology with an expedited review could clear up, if PI/holding were reviewable. .
  16. Glad the Chiefs won. Was a good game, until that awful holding call sucked all the suspense out of it. .
  17. Rick rules, except when he's worshipping later Pearl Jam sounding stuff. (Nirvana = the GOAT, Vedder sings like a goat) Have thoroughly enjoyed Beato's interviews w/ various artists the last few years. He asks musically educated questions and also has great stories about hangin' out with Michael Brecker and Lyle Mays back in the day. I'd like to see him interview Yuja. Hadn't heard of this extraordinary pianist 'til now.
  18. This may be old news now, but that was definitely a flop by Mahomes. You can see him react to the actual push, and then react to another imaginary push, which sends him spiraling into a high speed car wreck. It appeared to me that he had just barely hopped out of bounds when the actual push happened. He'd make a great stunt man. -- I'll be pulling for the Chiefs, as the Eagles are too good to the point that they're kind of boring to watch.
  19. can't Airdrop it? If both devices are on the same Wifi it should work? Might take an hour or 2.
  20. Now that I’ve used sk pro 61 awhile I can’t go back to NordganLand. NS3 does do everything else better though, esp. acoustic piano samples.
  21. Yamaha yc88’s usb A connection powers my arturia keylab mk ii without probs. Not sure if this is recommended or works w/ Nord. the regular ole truetone 1 spot psu powers the same arturia without problem also.
  22. "Kansas City Lightning - the Rise and Times of Charlie Parker" -Stanley Crouch (it's taking awhile to get through Ch. 1, but am enjoying it) got David Crosby's autobiography in the queue. I hear it's a wild one.
  23. can't get enough M. Brecker lately. Calderazzo probably belongs on some of these best pianists alive lists too. Saw him w/ Branford last year, very good.
  24. Briefly compared the 2 actions on stage recently. (NP5 73 and NS3 76 hp) Really didn’t get along with 76 hp, but maybe with more time I’d hopefully adapt to it. The initial contact reminded me of some not so playable weighted 88 m audio I had some years ago.
