It looks very nice and I'm sure it sounds great from your "like like" comment. It's great fun when a project comes to fruition and pleases you. I like the stop tail bridge concept too. Hope it sounds great clean without the tube screamer kicked in as well? Love the maple neck too...😎👍

I've always been a Fender tube amp kinda guy. I'm using a Fender Deluxe solid state Tone Master and a Roland EX4 solid state Street Cube these days...both are very light weight in and out amps. Not using any heavy or big amps these days. 😎

There are great guitarists with long fingers and great guitarists with short fingers. There are guitars that are not set up correctly, have long or short scale lengths, fretboards are too wide or too narrow, neck width is too thick or too thin, and the list goes on. Pick [pun intended] a guitar that feels right and plays easily in your hands, and you will be well ahead of the game IMHO. +1 SurferGirl, "just find a guitar that fits you and have fun!" 😎

Peter Green wrote one of my favorite tunes: Black Magic Woman and inspired another guitar icon Carlos Santana. Plus he had a Fleetwood Mac history (one of my favorite bands). I wouldn't mind having that White Falcon or the Surfing green Strat! +1 having classic guitars that can't be played is a real shame. Kind of like having a classic car that you can't drive anywhere and can't trust leaving it in a parking lot... 😎👍

I hope the auction is successful and the proceeds go to his friends and family. I think the guitars will go for more than they are valued at. Keep us posted if you find any news about the results of the auction...RIP Peter. 😎

Good luck Winston! I know you will find some new interesting sounds with your viola! My granddaughter has been taking lessons from the age of 5 to 11 and still going. I have attended all of her concerts with the teachers' other students, and they are all dedicated to the violin from kindergarten to high schoolers. I even played backing guitar as a duo at a couple of her concerts. It can be a lot of fun! 😎👍

+1 WP, I have an old favorite wall-hanger hung on an outside wall that is never in use. The rest of my guitars are kept in their cases when not in use. Also, +1 my sweat can corrode bridges from resting my palm on them over the years. I have learned to wipe them down (using Finger Ease on the bridge, strings and any metal parts) after every use these days. I don't spray Finger Ease directly on the neck, bridge, etc., I spray my wiping rag and glide it over the strings, bridge, pups, etc...takes about 5 seconds max! 😎

+1 DBM, while Chris Stapleton was singing and playing the National Anthem on his Fender Jazzmaster, the camera focused in on one of the Eagles players who had tears falling from his eyes. Very moving, and Chris did an excellent job. 😎

Great game! I try and catch the Super Bowl and a few playoff games even though I no longer follow football. I could do with or without the 1/2-time show. Just glad Rhianna and the others didn't fall off the platform during the highwire act...😎

Like DBM I truly appreciate David Gilmour's guitar playing. I also love Pink Floyd and the Darkside of the Moon. It's the music the band creates that really attracts my attention and I pay no attention to the politics...😎

+1 Winston, I thought about those Ovation historical holes and wondered how he missed hitting the bracing under the top. Maybe the inside wood splinters, shavings, chips, dust, etc., and the lack of the top vibrating would all help his tone LoL! I also noticed the notes and fingers didn't quite line up. Jerry Lee would say A hole (pun intended) lotta drilling & shaking going on...😎

+1,000 on getting a Living Trust and a Will along with a Power of Attorney, Advance Directive, etc., via an attorney that specializes in such matters. I have no worries with regard to my beneficiaries fighting with each other. Having these documents done in advance of either spouse (or Danny's Uncle) dying is a great way to end disputes. Having an attorney provide assistance with the steps to take when the time comes and to provide any updates in the interim, is also the way to go.
I had to administer my Mother and Father's Probate case as they died intestate within a month of each other a few years ago. I could not have done the job without the aid of my/our attorney who specializes in such matters, and she had a great history of working with the Probate court for many years. Of the 5 brothers and sisters, only one kept trying to provide opposition but the court saw through her objections. 😎

Don't forget to unplug acoustic/electric guitars when not in use to avoid the drain on batteries as well...😎

Welcome aboard Kyle! Great find, if you found a stolen Washburn guitar on this forum! I'm sure if one of our members have it, they will contact you. 😎

Maybe a pop-up tent would provide enough shade to run the Joyo and keep you two comfortable? I had an annual gig outdoors with no electricity. We had side walls to protect from sun, rain, wind, etc., and decorated behind us with a table to get our amps up off of the ground, cowboy stuff, etc. Kept our battery powered amps, mics, etc., out of the elements almost like being indoors. A couple of good reviews for Joyo-05 on Reverb.com. Lithium battery pack should last 2-3 hours with low-draw analog pedals. Be cautious and follow your instincts as you know your weather, etc., better than anyone else... 😎

Thanks for the info Brother Winston! Yeah, I had two MXR Compressors in the past that ran 10 times longer than the Boss CP-1x on a battery. I had them mounted on a board using a OneSpot power supply as I really didn't trust playing gigs battery operated. Now that I ran a new battery test on the Boss CP-1x (it lasted 4 hours on a new Duracell), I won't be running it on battery anymore LoL! I still really like the pedal though... 😎👍

Update re; the Boss Compressor CP-1x, I can only recommend it when it's run on a power supply or on a wall wart. I put mine through the test using a brand-new battery today while playing 4 hrs. at a friends' house without unplugging it for a break. A new battery will last for a 4-hour gig, but I will run mine on a power supply from now on. It eats too much juice if used on battery power alone IMHO. My old standard MXR Compressor lasted a lot longer on a battery. I'm not a fan of the MXR Dyna Comp. The Boss CP-1x does a great job.

Welcome aboard Ellen! Spring Reverb is a must have for me. If the amp doesn't have it on-board, a Boss Reverb pedal would be my 1st choice. Assuming the amp has a reverb, I would skip the reverb pedal and go with an MXR Carbon Copy Delay. I would add a MXR Compressor and a Boss Blues Driver OD pedal or a Boss Distortion. Tuners are also a must have for a beginner. I prefer the clip-on tuners (TC Electronic Unitube Clip) and would not waste the space on a pedal. 😎

Best speakers for electric guitar?
in Guitar Forum
Posted
Welcome aboard Thomas02. I would buy an amp that already has a speaker before I would buy a speaker without an amp. Try to find an amp that sounds good with the guitar you have chosen (hoping you already have a guitar). I like a 12" speaker for some reason LoL! Good luck and good hunting! 😎👍
