Still have my NO2 and I use it with a Vent 2. Sounds really good to my ear. This isn't my main set up but I keep it for rehearsal sites rather than lugging gear to practice each week.

I use a sub with my Spacestation XL. Primarily for enriching organ presence. I think other comments here about the blooming aspects of the XL are spot on. I often can't set up far enough away from the XL and crank a bit more than I should. I've noticed the keys being too out-front on some of our live recordings. Maybe a near-by or in-ear monitor (plugged into the XL's R/L outs) as other suggested would help.

Very, IMO. Types largely covered. You can also create your own patches by using different tone components. You can tweak each of up to 4 tone components within each patch to give you what you're looking for. I've created a few to cover some very 80's sounds. Programming is not hard once you grasp the Combo/Patch/Component structure and UI. I usually start with a close Patch and tweak/add/subtract the tone components until I like what I hear.

SKXPro. Super sounding 2 manual clonewheel and does just about everything you'll need for a gig. I went from 3 boards, rack synth and mixer to one board - and I'm not missing anything needed for gigs.

Was thinking I'd set it on the SpaceStation XL and midi to it. I probably won't be tweaking the knobs in a live setting. I was thinking I'd use the SKX external midi function to call up SH-4D patches (presets or user saved) using MSB/LSB and patch number. That is, set up a combo in the SKX that designates that tone as external, on the SH-4D's receive channel. That should mute the SKX and sound through the SH-4D. That's the idea. Not sure yet if it’s doable. I used to do this with a Krome and a Roland Integra7. (Kicking myself for selling the Integra7). All knobs on thhe SH-4D are midi addressable. I guess if I really needed to tweak during a live setting, I could assign SKX sliders/knobs to send CCs to the SH-4D controls.

I've recently moved to a Hammand SKX Pro as part of my stratgey to reduce the number of boards and gear I'm bringing to gigs. For the most part, the SKX has allowed me to get down to one keyboard and no mixer to deal with. The SKX is great sounding and the favorites give me quick access to sounds I use most. But I could still use more good sounding pads and leads. I was toying with adding the SH-4D (small, light) midi'd up to the SKX. Anyone doing similar or have advice regarding the SH-4D. Same here. Just more comfortable thinking in F# vs. Gb. Couldn't say why. That said, both represent the key of WTF!

Used a 32GB off-brand for the last two updates without issue.

Did mine last night. Could just be my head playing games with me, but the Clavs do sound different. Not by much. Maybe a bit more resonance than before. I did notice that some of my Combos are now swimming in reverb.

Tried one at Guitar Center and was not impressed with the action. I get price points and all, but this was really below par. Clacketty, cheap feeling keybed. Decided I wasn't interested any longer.

Recently purchased the SKX Pro. Not tweakable like a workstation per se, but the ROMpler voices are very good IMO. Working very well for my stage needs.

Yep. Way more than I had guessed. I guess, if someone's willing to pay that price, that's the value. It's really cool synth within its catgeory but those numbers don't seem justified to me.

In response to the OP's topic, I probably wouldn't buy this for myself. But, if I had to have it stuffed in either of the mentioned receptacles, I'd opt for the stocking.

Yep, I hear ya. I dragged a 147 around for years (still have it) but I've had to look for lighter alternatives. I've been using CPS XL and relying on internal sims or pedals (vent II, Lester K). Gotta think that a 59 lbs leslie-wanna-be, with upper and lower rotars that actual move air, might be a better choice.
