    SP7 Grand?

I have read two reviews that said it was not reliable. On the other hand, the action seems to be a marked improvement. As well as the navigation by way of a large touchscreen. Etc. Has anyone here actually played this?
  2. Looks like a perfect backup keyboard. Easy to navigate, layering and splits. Does anyone have any experience with it? Opinions?
  3. I’ve been using Cry Baby way for my Hohner D6. Too noisy and thin. Also looking for envelope follower. Mutron ? your thoughts?
  4. As for the Leslie simulation, I have played Nord organs on my various Nord Stages and Electros over many years using Vent. At home in my studio, I play a 1957 C3 through a Leslie 122. For smaller appropriate gigs. I just bring the Nord stage 3 or Electro 5 and play it through a Vent. But I am in a band, which is heavily B3 centric, playing original music, as well as music of Medeski, Martin and Wood, and the Meters etc. Playing through an actual Leslie, on stage is a dramatically different experience than Leslie’s simulation, no matter how good the stimulation is. And I am certainly a fan of the ventilator. The stimulation on the Soul is very good, and, to some peoples’ ears, as good as a ventilator. I just prefer the ventilator when I’m not using a Leslie.
  5. The Soul action is very light and quick. They might have even overcompensated for the stiffness of the Legend… The Leslie sim is very good, more subtle than the Vent. But I use it with my old Leslie 145. Some truly excellent features are: 1. Variable loudness of the percussion ( beyond Normal and Soft), and 2. Computer app can precisely adjust the C/V parameters. (And also, the Leslie sim parameters). BTW, the soft gig case isn’t great. I’m having Studio Slips make me an excellent padded soft gig bag for only a little more money.
  6. Get the Soul 261. Extremely light fast action
  7. Just got a Viscount Soul 261. It is just beautiful. Through my Leslie 145, virtually indistinguishable from my 1957 C3. Any other Viscount players out there?
  8. I don’t know, The Who used backing tracks in the 70’s for Won’t Get Fooled Again. Adding them for electronic percussion or sound effects (do yo really think Pink Floyd had a hundred alarm clocks on stage to start Time?). I think the word is judicious use.
  9. I have the original ocean Beach drawbars, and a Nord stage three. I would love to connect them, but I cannot figure out the settings for the DIN switches in the OB drawbars. Anyone know what I can do?
  10. Strymon Brig is amazing creamy goodness for your synths! I use it on my Mini Moog D, and Little Phatty. Had anyone else here tried it? It runs mono in/out. Mono in/stereo out, and stereo in/out. Yes!
  11. I liked my Mojo till it crashed and burned on me. Just got an XK 4. (Newer tech, the XK5 is 7 years old) Only 20 pounds. After tweaking, it sounds more authentic than the Mojo. The CV is now quite good. More importantly, it feels better because of the quick action and the multi level trigger attack, which completes the heart-hand Hammond B3 connection. (But yes, imho, it needs a Ventilator, but so does the Mojo). My 2 cents.
  12. Got it yesterday. Unimpressive presets. Shrill and thin sounding. Percussion too loud. But, wait, open up the hood. Pick the Mellow B3 or A100. Warmer. Internal eq to tame the shrill. Dial down the volume of the percussion. Now, it sounds much better. Add a Ventilator and you have it!!! She feels like my 1957 C3. The multi trigger attack is so sweet, and critical to the hand>heart B3 connection. More to come.
  13. Have you tried this?
  14. I have to fix the USB input on the back of my Mojo 61. The problem is I don’t know how to open up the keyboard to get at the inside guts. There are a lot of screws, and none of them have opened it up cleanly for me. Has anyone tried this, I need help. Thanks.
