  1. Q: What's the first thing a trombone player does on the way home from the job? A: Tale the Domino's sign off the roof of his car.
  2. Are you sure they still don't? 😃
  3. A musician dies and approaches the Pearly Gates where he's met by St Peter. The guy says, "You must have some fantastic musicians here". Peter says yes but seems a little unenthusiastic. How about guitar players the guy asks & Peter tells him yes, we have everyone from Charlie Christian and Wes Montgomery for the jazz guys to Hendrix & Beck for the rockers. Piano players?' the guy asks. Yes Peter replies with the same underwhelming tone, Oscar Peterson, Keith Emerson, etc. This goes on for a while with the same attitiude so the guy asks, "You have all these unbelievable musicians yet you seem so down about it. Why is that?" Peter replies, "Well, God's girlfriend is a singer.......".
  4. And since we're on to drummers: Q: Why do drummers have two more brain cells than horses? A: So they don't crap in the middle of the street during the parade.
  5. The variation I heard on that one is: Q: What does a drummer get on their IQ test? A: Drool.
  6. Q: What does it mean when the guitarist is drooling out of both sides of his mouth? A: The stage is level.
  7. I had originally heard this one about guitar players, but we can just substitute the word musician instead. Q: What's the difference between a musician and a government bond? A: A government bond will eventually mature and earn money.
  8. Q: What's the definition of relative minor? A: The guitar player's girlfriend.
  9. Hey, don't be dissing our idol Kenny G. Actually, I saw him just the other night. He was walking out of an elevator & said, "Man, this place really rocks!!". Ba-dup, Crash!!!
  10. What you might be thinking of is that Europe is passing a law requiring all devices to use the USB-C standard in future phones. Don't know if that's the European Union or some regulatory body over there and also not sure when they plan to have it take effect. Meanwhile, back here in the States, we'll probably be stuck with lightning for some time to come.
  11. That's odd - I just tried it on a different computer and still no audio. Could it be an omen?
  12. Is it just me or are others unable to get audio out of the link? I checked other sources (YouTube) and got sound from them. Not seriously looking to purchase but curious to see how it sounds.
  13. Yes, particularly if you listen to the attack (or dig) on the low Eb notes he plays. Yeah, the Pro does address some of the flaws on the Sk-1 & 2 but does so at, as you say, the expense of The Funk
  14. On a real clav, or good extra voice sim, the attack, especially on the low notes has an instant engagement, or "dig", greatly helping the percussive overall sound of the instrument. One of the long-standing problems with many rompler-based sounds is that they lack this immediacy and clavinet emulations in particular can show this flaw. The SK-1 didn't seem to have this problem, but the SK Pro does. I tried adding pure synth waves onto one of the 4 "operators" to see if an attack rate of zero would bring them in instantaneously, but it just lacks that immediate engagement. Hope this clarifies more than muddles.
  15. Thanks, Scott! Another "uh, duh" moment for myself for not even thinking about trying that. Sometimes all those dang trees keep me from seeing the forest
  16. Yes, I liked the SK-1's Eps better also, just for the fact that you could get both delay (from the reverb section) and auto-pan on one registration. With the Pro you have to program one with delay, one with auto-pan and then play both simultaneously which results in the basic tone just not sounding right.
  17. I had an SK-1 and loved the clav sound. I now have an SK Pro & don't like the clav sound at all. No "dig" on the attack which, IIRC, the Sk-1 had in spades. That's just my opinion though, and you know what they say about opinions. Some forum members really like the SK Pro clav.
  18. Groove Monkey does have a New Orleans pack but I'm not where I can access it right now to see if it has the Hey Pocky A-Way groove in it or not. That song has always been my #1 choice for the Funkiest tune ever recorded.
  19. At least you didn't tell me to Smell the Glove!
  20. Yeah, I'm probably the one contributing to the confusion the most. Anyway, I checked my original iPad - it's an iPad Pro, 4th. generation. I didn't realize they started a whole new numbering system with the pro. It was around iPadOS 15, which I'm updating to 16.2 right now - hope that doesn't cause any nasty surprises when I try to use it. And, yes, the USB-B out of the SK goes into the USB-A of the dongle. If the 1/8" audio out of the dongle worked correctly all the time that would be all I need. But, alas, that isn't the case so I put a USB-C to 1/8" dongle into the USB-C of the original dongle. This setup works fine. It wasn't an official Apple product but I like it because it's one of those that fit flush on the corner of the iPad instead of hanging free. I had hoped to go to an entirely dongle-less setup with the 9th. gen. model but that's where I get the message described a few posts ago. I do have the regular camera kit but I'm using that one for a church gig I have and want to keep it there (some dummy would forget to bring it along some day and that dummy would, of course, be me ). That's for running a pipe organ app on the iPhone (the device that actually is 11th gen.) The Apple camera kit seems to have disappeared entirely from the stores around here but I'll keep looking. I do have a multi type adapter on the way that I'm going to use with the phone so I'll try that with the 9 once it arrives & see if it takes away the error message, but then we're back to a dongled setup. Hope that clears things up a bit and, if not, we'll all be doing this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2f5MvVx8RM8
  21. Apologies for the delay in answering. Yes, it works with the newer iPad, on which I have a dongle that accepts the USB-B from the SK to a USB-A on the dongle. I'm using a USB-C to 1/8" adapter from the USB-C socket on the dongle because using the dongle's 1/8" out is problematic. All that being said this system works great. On the 9th gen iPad I'm going USB-B on the SK to the lightning socket on the iPad & the headphone socket on the iPad to the aux. input on the SK. This is the setup that gives me the error message. I did try doing a Bluetooth MIDI from the SK to the 9th. gen & it works but it does have that lack of immediacy that I achieve with the wired setup on the newer iPad. I had hoped to achieve a setup that just used 2 wires, the USB to the iPad & the 1/8 cable back to it.
  22. Latest development - need help. I got one of the 9th. gen. iPads to run instruments, use Cubasis, etc. I just tried plugging it into the SK Pro and keep getting a message saying: "Cannot Use Accessory HAMMOND SK PRO: This accessory requires too much power". I don't know why the iPad seems to think it has to power the SK. I've been using a later iPad (11th. gen, I think) and it works perfectly. I'm running a direct line from the USB-B on the SK to the Lightning port on the iPad. I could try Bluetooth MIDI but achieved a noticeable improvement when I went from Bluetooth to direct connection on the 11 so don't want to backslide on that. Is there something I should be doing with the 9 as far as settings go to make it think it doesn't have to power the SK? Thanks in advance.
  23. It's not one of the two in question here but I've had the Kawai MP6 ever since it first came out & it's still going like a champ.
  24. Congrats on the SK2. I had an SK1 and remember its clav sound to be standout, something that sadly has not been replicated on the SK Pro I own now, even with its multiple pickup settings.
  25. Is there a way to connect the pedal AND lower manual to the lower part of a split, then program the pedal voice to just do a "tap" along with the sustained voice of the lower manual? I seem to recall earlier Ham?Suz product's having this ability but didn't come across it in the Pro manual. Thanks
