  1. Looks like a real winner that fills many gaps in the Nord product line and was worth the wait from the original. Maybe a good modern synth that performs many duties?

Also reasonably priced for what it does..... so unlike Nord!

Maybe they will reissue the Modular?

  2. KLONK

    4 parts

Sample synth engine with Nord sample library and option to add user samples

    VA engine

    FM engine

    Wavetable engine

    Polyphonic Arpeggiator

    Semi-weighted waterfall keybed with Aftertouch

    And...

    61 keys

    Morph and impulse morph

    Multiple oled displays

    Greatly improved effect section

And lots more, still have to go in depth in the specs and manual.

Looks like a monster synth, in the league of the Prophet X or Quantum, but of course with Clavia's typical performance-first approach.

I'm worried to hear about the price...

    $2699 USD @ Sweetwater

  3.

This is aimed at people who want to do a gig with one board. It isn't for hardcore organists nor for hardcore pianists. It's the "Swiss Army knife" keyboard. Throw it on your back and get to the gig. All the sounds would work fine in a band context under the fingers of a capable player.

Well said, Jim, couldn"t have stated it better myself!

As a happy CP88 owner, I can attest to the top-notch pianos and clavs and from what I"ve heard so far from the organs, they will be sufficient in a band context, The combo organs will be perfect for my Afrobeat gigs. And if I decide to use Keyscape/Omnisphere, this will be AWESOME!!

    Aftertouch, schmaftertouch.....

never used it, never plan to....

  4. [

But I wouldn't by any means call the sample library useless w/o PB/mod. Sample library is used for WAY more than synth leads, which is the only place you're likely to really feel that absence. Not much of an issue for pads, mellotrons, strings/horns/winds, chromatic percussion, etc. So it would be more important for some players than others.

    Really?

'Not much of an issue with pads'?

Part of playing a pad is the ability to control timbre witn mod wheel/lever/stick, so yes, it is and shall be useless on the Electro until or if they ever decide to implement PB or mod cc"s and physical controls

  5. I want to get my hands on one.....

The PB/Mod levers and drawbars sending the right cc"s are pluses that the Nord doesn"t have.

I"m an organ purist, mostly, but unless you're doing a jazz trio kicking sticks needing some crunchy warmth or a hi-energy rock gig and need a Jon Lord or Vanilla Fudge distortion, none of the clones except MAG, Mojo or Legend will get you any further than halfway there or 'ah, good enough for this gig'.

Knowing how good Yamaha is with piano actions (I have a CP88) I have faith that the YC will be equally responsive!

On evidence of what we"ve got so far, I think this is a better and more feature rich board than any Nord, and I"ve toured and recorded with all iterations of the Electro from the OG through the 5. Better Pianos for damn sure!! And for those complaining about a high price, it"s exactly competitive with Nord but better, as Nord"s vaunted Sample Library is USELESS without PB and Mod controls or cc"s. Plus the 200 price differential will take care of sales tax and be equal to NE61, if you decide to go for the YC.

Also, the inclusion of an audio interface means you can use it as full on controller in conjunction with Mainstage, Keyscape, Camelot, Cantabile, etc etc. and not be hobbled with no PB/Mod controls or cc"s like with Nord.

The form factor and weight are super great for travel, esp carry-ons!

  6. Holy shit, Korg NAILED this....!!

It sounds like the OG 2600 .....and that spring reverb!

I won"t need one till next year, but I WANT IT NOW!

The burning question is.... can you invert the keyboard voltage and do the 'Black Market' trick??

  7. Well, the first demo in the vid above is an acoustic piano. It is noticeably more dynamic and responsive to his physical input. I will need to play this and won't comment on how the RH3 interacts with their libraries until I've done so. Maybe they heard the whining?

Elmer, I"m hoping against hope for the same after watching the Anderton vid with Luke.

  8. I can see swapping this or that effect -

but are they also suggesting of you want a wurly or a steinway d you would add modules?

Great question, Elmer.... I presumed that it was both options you mention, although Viscount does not seem to be clear about it!

  9. Pretty nice update... I'll have to try one!

I"ll give it another spin, but unless Korg fixed the sluggish action or made the bed or housing more responsive, I"ll put my sheckels with the Viscount Legend 70s.

  10. Wait...really?!?

    Why Legend '70s is different?

The front is composed by single modules that can be assembled and dismantled, allowing you to create the piano of your dreams! Crave for more? Come to visit us at Namm the Show - Booth 7902!

A modular stage piano? This could be something REALLY new!

THIS is the most coveted new release for my purposes...... Viscount could have a real winner here!

  11. I had to look up what MDF was, but I don't recall seeing any wood under there the various times I opened mine up to replace broken keys.

    Hey, Josh!

    I also have gone thru 3 SV1s!

And I have the same love/hate feels about it as you....

Also, IME it was the tube that made the SV so vibey...

My SVs all had composite bottoms (1 red and 2 black)

  12. If you"re doing rock and blues covers and are picky about action, I wouldn't mess around with anything but a CP4 or save up 500 more and get the new CP88. You can also plunk down your $1500 and pay the other $500 in 90 days or longer.

Reverb has a bunch of CP4s that look pretty good.

You didn"t mention what amplification you will be using. This is equally crucial. Remember, amplification takes the place of the piano"s sound board. Does your $1500 include amplification?

Both Yamahas have XLR inputs if you're going direct to PA. Also, Yamahas are easiest to find the live sweet spot, plus they cut thru a mix best in Rock or Blues.

Chuck Leavell could use ANYTHING and he STILL uses a CP4 with the Stones.

    Nuff said.

  13. Looks VERY Interesting.

Dyno sounds excellent.....I"m hopeful earlier versions will sound equally good.

I"m also hopeful front panel will afford maximum sound sculpting to approximate other Rhodes years.

Considering the excellent quality of Legend Organs, I"m sure this will reach, if not exceed, that same bar.

Whether there are Wurli, Clav, etc, sounds would be a bonus, but not a deal breaker.

Of course, MAP, weight and dimensions will also tell the tale.

    I"d get a CP88 for gigs and/or a Vintage Vibe Electric Piano.

Ehm, aren't those Vintage Vibe instrument insanely expensive v.s. those digital fascimilies you talk about? No offense meant, just wondering what the reason would be for this.

The VVs are NOT insanely expensive if you look at ownership as a LIFETIME investment, like a great Acoustic Piano rather than on the 'planned obsolescence' digital keyboard life cycle.

Plus the 'reason would be' sound to finger' connection unrivaled by anything but a Rhodes!

  14. You can also build a Hackintosh.

For Pros, the DAW is of prime importance. The guys I work with and for and most others here are Logic/PT focused.

Projects are created in Logic then ported to PT for finishing, post and then to mastering. I haven't seen a Cubase project in the past decade. Some folks use DP, a few PC guys still have Sonar, but those folks are all switching to either Studio One or DP on win.

Not meaning to throw shade. If it works for you, great, but if you"re getting paid you need to go where your colleagues go.

  15. Sitting me down in front of this thing would be like putting me in a Soyuz capsule. Its not only pointless, it approaches blasphemy in the level of its waste. I'm inextricably wedded to Logic Pro. It just works, whereas the 2 sequencers I tried pre-Logic were like a slap in the yap. I'm not an actual Luddite, but I also have work to do, so if you're going to get me to seriously upgrade, you'll have to tell me WHY. I loved sweating over my old Korg workstation, but now? Screw the ads and 'space-age' promises. I'm into the notes, so I seek to maintain a grab-it-&-go relationship with my DAW & instruments. I tend to lock in my system and refuse to upgrade until people are bitching about the OS *after* the current, bleeding-edge one. Its proven to be safer. Half of my base sound library is in EXS form and its migrated across 4 Macs without a hitch. I dare anyone to offer me better sound palette security than that. Anything less is a crap burrito. :Python:

    I"m with ya Brother!

I make what I have sync with my workflow. I"m a for-life Logic user as well. Only difference is I dump my finished projects into PT and send them off to mastering for deadlines.

I"ve given up on bleeding or cutting edge upgrades and only do so when obsolescence or slowdowns make effective work impossible.

Same thing with instruments. I ask for what I need in riders and if I need to substitute, I work with what gets me closest. The good stuff is at home for effective practice and play and I take it out when and if I can.

If it works, I don"t mess with it, nor do I waste practice, play or work with latest and greatest OCD-ness. My work and play is more effective and joyful and my focus and time-management have improved a thousand-fold.
