  1. Leak appearing on various forums, just before Mothers Day weekend. https://www.matrixsynth.com/2018/05/meet-new-moog-grandmother.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook
  2. I agree. Macbeth and Studio Electronics for example, got started making Moog-inspired synths, and have survived despite the rebirth of Moog Music and Behringer's D clone. I think branching out with their designs and adding to their product lines helped.
  3. Fair enough concerns, though a Dreadbox Erebus 3 3VCO semimodular is only 499 Euros - not much more than Behringer's Neutron 2VCO semimodular. Also, Dreadbox sells DIY synth kits for lower cost.
  4. It'll get more synths into more hands. There's other Superbooth 2018 stuff that interests me more, but more people getting synths could be a good thing.
  5. Right? Looking forward to hearing the wavetable oscillators once they're implemented. I wonder if Dreadbox is planning a new version of the Abyss. Such lush pads/soundscapes out of just 4 VCOs.
  6. Hybrid monosynth with two paraphonic modes, sequencer, and grid with XYZ-sensitive pads. Analog oscillators by Dreadbox (great up-and-coming synth maker). Digital wavetable oscillators presumably by Polyend. http://polyend.com/medusa/ [video:youtube]
  7. I became a fan of Inhalt's demos after listening to his demos of the OB-6 and Prophet 6, so it's fitting that he submitted a PX one.
  8. ^because the list is unverified/unofficial
  9. I've been thinking of Emu's Proteus 2000 family myself. I have a member of this family - the Command Station. Similar concepts in that the sound source is a sample-playing oscillator, with a powerful modulation matrix, bunch of LFOs, and resonant filter - albeit a digital one with its own character (Z-plane).
  10. As does the Prophet 12, though the latter's have more options, such as more waveshapes. That's why some people were comparing it to the Prophet X. The X appears to have a simpler synth architecture than the 12, but it's hardly crippled, with that generous mod matrix which includes the sample instruments as both sources and destinations.
  11. This would be good. In fact, I'm waiting to know what the mod matrix is, and how much interaction between the sampling and synthesis parts there will be. I don't need another rompler (even though I have just a couple... ), so I'm interested in deep sound design possibilities. Also, I want to know what kind of oscillators and filters are on board. I'm hopeful... Looking forward to more info on the mod matrix as well. 28 sources, 88 destinations, plus 11 dedicated sources - that's a lot of potential mod connections. From what gather in the DSI forum thread here , the synth oscillator waveshapes are pretty basic compared to P12. Similar situation with filters (1 analog lowpass per voice, 1 digital hipass), albeit w/ newer analog filter design. OTOH, you get the VS waveshapes in the sample library. Each voice has 2 synth oscillators + 2 sample instruments.
  12. Reportedly seen on the DSI Forum: "The oscillators and instruments can be modulation sources. And oscillator and instrument pitches are modulation destinations. And you can also use both to frequency modulate the filter."
  13. Word is spreading that samples can be modulation sources and routed through the mod-matrix.
  14. I dig these, as well as the Automelodic demo. It'll be interesting to hear demos/tracks of the sample libraries mangled by that mod matrix, as well as more of the pure synth side, but I'm sure that'll all come with time.
  15. The Spanish Inquisition of synths. 32-min wait before the mention of the SI. Maybe a new record? But, I have to dock you a couple of points for failing to post the meme pic.
  16. I wasn't expecting the Prophet X at all, so there's that.
  17. Superbooth 2018 starts in just a couple of days - May 2. That's when DSI is expected to formally announce the specs and what not.
  18. I'd be too but unfortunately there is no joystick, there are no vectors It does have two ribbon controllers though. If they work like the ones on the P-12 and other ribbon-equipped DSIs, they're assignable to just about anything. However, zero information has been released by DSI on this thing apart from the teaser video, so I'll probably check back on this thread after Superbooth 2018. Regarding "any Korg...", I own several Korg synths myself. My analog Korgs don't have a piano sample.
  19. I'm interested. As somebody posted, an updated Prophet VS/Wavestation w/ analog filters, knobby panel, etc. could be lots of fun.
  20. stopped by GC in Rockville MD today after a dentist app't nearby and before my expected time for work. Asked about the Prologue and the reply was that no stores except for NYC had them. Dude asked me if I wanted him to get one in stock for me to try out. I asked him why wouldn't they just get one in anyway for everyone? He then asked me if I wanted to try out the 49 or 61 key version. I told him that most likely they would sound the same. I know the polyphony, and splits and layers would be different but dude had no clue. Told him I'll check back in 3 months. SMH I guess they must have had some staff turnover since the last time I was at that GC, at which time the guys in the keyboard dept. seemed to have some reasonable knowledge. I have a synth geek friend who works at the GC in Seven Corners. But they seem to make him mostly guitar work (sales, guitar setup/maintenance/repair work), go figure. Equally conversant with analog synthesis and FM.
  21. I liked his demo too. I still intend to check out the presets by John Bowen and others, just to admire their work.
  22. The 16 has the analog low-end booster/compressor. It also has one or two more panels, one of which is for that extra feature, with a VU meter. Nice selling point for some.
