  1. I never used bags. I guess I thought they were more difficult to deal with than milk crates (when I was a teen) or suitcases (my first touring cable cases...it was 1980, the suitcases were plastic molded). I had small flight cases for my cables until I went to Iraq and then I had to purchase some lighter cases, and I bought some SKB utilitycases that had pull out handles and wheels. Bought 2 of them, and still use them 15 years later. You can buy cheaper versions that are actually larger for about $30 at Sams Club. They're not quite the grade of my old SKBs, but for cables, small mixers??? Hell, I may actually use it for fly rigs, and foam it for my Integra and a mini vent, and a handful of "dont trust the rider" items. Here's a link: $30 Cmon!!! For lest strenuous needs, this should fill everyone's checklist For $30 For Those Who Are Organized (OCD? Yeah you know me!)
  2. VERY EXPENSIVE. But if my keyboard sale was expensive, I build it in. They are hacks. But they are hacks with liability. As a shipper, if you have them pack it, they have no recourse when they damage your gear, and payout is pretty immediate. I HATE UPS STORE.
  3. Bought a pair of high powered projectors in flight cases for my Floyd band. I LOVE facebook! Sometimes.
  4. Foam padding and a can of glue for my 76 note case, to form fit my SL88 Studio.
  5. Actually, Im so frustrated with dealing with the rack and placement, I bought one of those cool panels from Redco like you have here. Except ALL my connections will happen in front now, including AC, and I can put it on the floor anywhere, and actually be able to see it. Hopefully the panel shows up this week. My SL88 Studio showed up Monday. Digging in.
  6. OBXA's original post had a link to a knock off of a WS550, not a Zstand. Assuming I'm not hallucinating, I'll reply that that stand has been in my employ for ....over 25 years. I have the full 2nd tier assembly, but THAT is a pain in the ass. Years ago, I posted a $10 2nd tier solution that requires no setup after the initial install. That solution is basically a pair of threaded steel rods with a pair of wingnuts for each rod; insert the rod into the hole of the ws550, put a wingnut under the stand and one over the stand to set the height of your 2nd tier and lock it down. You'll also purchase a package of rubber feet (usually 4 in a pack, they're furniture/floor protectors) to slip over the top of the rod, and now you've got a permanent 2nd tier. That stand is robust, heavy duty, and pretty useful for all but standing and playing.
  7. Roland JDXA (still waiting for delivery) Gator case for same (delivered 6 weeks ago) Studiologic SL88 (still waiting for delivery) MiniVent II (delivered 3 weeks ago)
  8. That clavinet is bad fucking ass.
  9. What do you think of the action? Are you using it in its hard case? How are you finding the weight? Cheers, Mike The action: It is the truest emulation of a Rhodes action I have ever played. A great Rhodes, but it definitely feels like a Rhodes. I use it in its hard case. Im not touring it, so jammed in my vehicle with everything else, its fine. The weight is a breeze, HONESTLY! My 20lb SK1 in its SKB case is a lot heavier than the Crumar in its own case. But that case isnt suitable for any other kind of hauling.
  10. Right now, I can say after a dozen gigs with the Seven, it is not only stable, and wobble free, but usually makes a sonic statement when I use it.
  11. Really Dave? Don't tell me you're drinking the Kool-Aid on Dave Smith. He has been an innovative guy but a ROMpler? Yeah he invented MIDI, put out some awesome synths with Sequential, innovated with the VS and kick started the new era of polyphonic analogs but the X is a sad entry. At this point he seems to value being prolific over being cutting edge. If he didn't have a new idea for a synth why force it and put out a rehash of the new Prophet with a generous side of ROMpler. Does he really need to release something new each year? To be honest, this is better than just releasing a desktop of something else. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh on Dave, maybe he's getting a lot of requests to produce a ROMpler and he just wants to capitalize on the demand. So maybe he is doing it just for business. If that is so, what does it tell us, that all roads lead to ROMpler? For years everyone complained about the lack of analogs, lack of warmth, how ROMplers sucked the life out of music and were bland. People hated them. A ROMpler was good for piano but a synth? Now after 20 years of synth making, Dave is finding convergence on the very same type of synth that people were demanding an alternative to and hence grew DSI into a major player. Just remember the late 90's people were beating on Yamaha, Korg and especially Roland to revisit analog. The big three were fine with ROMplers and the masses turned to Moog and DSI. After DSI's success the big three saw the market and started putting out VA's and analogs. You mean to tell me now, Dave Smith's big announcement is a ROMpler while Korg's was the Prologue. Is the world not upside down here? Am I really the only one who notices the absurdity of this. I wish Dave would've innovated with the X. It doesn't have to be analog. He seems in love with the possibilities of digital synthesis. Why not create a new innovative digital synthesizer? Why just add a ROMpler to the Prophet? Dave does try to milk the designs for all he can but this one is particularly offensive to my sensibilities. I guess now we know that Bowen was the Lennon and Dave the McCartney of that relationship. Wings . The Prophet with a lame piano sample, just what the world needed. Thanks Dave Smith. Your happy face icon doesnt sound anything like your typing.
  12. No. He makes great sounding synths (I dont own one), that sound DIFFERENT than Moog or Roland, etc. I think the Mopho is big bang for the buck, and this thing has my attention.
  13. I am stoked, and ponying up. Are there any clav demos?
  14. whats more threatening than an X stand: this thing.
  15. Um....maybe not on the Electro, but the Stage gave you bank and program select, as well as a USEABLE and PROGRAMMABLE set of controls, independent on each panel. The SK....beyond the Program/Bank select, all zones are forced to use the same expression pedal curves, which sucks.
  16. I tried to communicate with HS about some things to try and evolve the SK1 into a Nord Killer. No interest shown. Hopefully, theyve evolved the controller aspect of the SK1. As it is, that keeps the SK1 in the dark ages compared to every other keyboard with midi out there. I'm a fan of the SK1. I love mine. I use them in EVERY gig, regardless how small the audience or rig. Most gigs are one board rigs, and its the SK1 Looking forward to seeing what theyve got.
  17. Eighth Grade: I'd been playing piano for 3 years at that point, and my listening habits of Radio, Elton and Kiss (to be fair, that lasted only 6 months, and would have been over quicker had my parents not been so mortified by the blood and tongue) got a shock when my friend (who played guitar) brought over a couple records he stole from his big brother. I was ruined for life. http://i937.photobucket.com/albums/ad216/tonysounds/FLYELP.jpg I immediately went and bought a bass (salesman talked me out of a Univox Rick copy and steered into a Hagstrom) and a Univox amp, and an ELP songbook.
