  1. Each to their own. I've always found a 15' speaks too slowly and the lows tend to muddy. If I'm playing left hand bass a 12" is good (or 2x10"), if not then a 10" is just fine. Yeh the DBR10s are good value. For a lightweight set-up I've now gone to an Everse 8" (7kg). It puts out more than enough to keep up with a loud electric blues band. ymmv.
  2. That reflects my experience with Moises. Guitar survives the process relatively intact, but the default assumption seems to be that if it could be guitar it probably is, and where there's overlap in frequencies/sound with keys they get removed from the keys stem, leaving a hollowed out keys track with just the bits you could already hear sticking out when you listened to the full mix.
  3. I've been down this rabbit hole a few times and tbh I'm not sure you'll really find anything better than your Electro, I invariaby found 3 octaves just not quite enough - I'd find myself using the octave up or down button and then forget where it was at - and it's not that much bigger than a 4-octave board or controller. But yes the MPC looks tempting 🤣 We can always rely on this forum to trigger GAS.
  4. Thanks Luke, lol. Not sure the KingKorg Neo 'll do piano or Mellotron, or a credible clav or Wurly for that matter. If it's just synth the OP asked for sure there are plenty of 3-4 octave options.
  5. Audio over usb is one of the things in the upgrade purchased through the Cloud, whether it’s class compliant and will work with a iPad isn’t stated: “The RD-08 Upgrade adds USB audio interface capabilities for working with music production software on computers. Communicate with MainStage on a laptop while performing. And use the RD-08 as both a MIDI controller and a high-quality audio sound source for your favorite DAW.” Other things mentioned are: SuperNATURAL Acoustic Piano 3 Apple MainStage integration Support for Wave Expansions on Roland Cloud https://www.roland.com/us/products/rc_rd-08_upgrade/
  6. maybe it’s like groceries and inflation, some have increased in price while others have kept the price point but shrunk the item by 20%, the latter being pretty much what’s happened with the RD-88 being replaced by the RD-08.
  7. Only 25 favourites and 40 scenes, so very much a basic entry level board. The RD-88 has 400 scenes and 100 favourites. Here is Australia the RD-08 is listed at AU$1889. The RD-88 is AU$1579. 🤷‍♂️
  8. same, but using Musescore, which is freeware. I used to just make a few notes on the song list, bridge chords or a particular riff, but I’m getting past the age of being able to keep shoving new material into my head. The more I do the faster I get, and i figure it’s good ear training.
  9. Moises gets highly recommended, it's a small monthly subscription fee, but tbh it does a less than commendable job separating 'other', say keys from guitar, such that I'll suggest that it or the paid version of Spliteroo probably aren't worth the $.
  10. He says from time to time that he's sure you can plug it into a computer and change various settings - organ model, keyclick level etc. - which you can't. Would have taken no more than a few minutes to read the manual.
  11. There’s enough give in the frame such that 2 Standard size tiers (STA-S-B) work fine, it’s what I did.
  12. You can move those plastic support arms to wherever you want so you can line the 2 boards up so that middle C on one is directly above middle C on the other, if that's what you're asking. I got 2 Vox's to have different FX on each, or FX on one and no FX on the other, e.g. Rhodes with phaser and delay on one and clean bass on the other.
  13. On a more serious note I just can't see the point. Jazz is at its heart a form of live improvisation.
  14. as soon as AI works out that becoming a jazz musician is hardly a sure road to financial success I’m sure it’ll move onto more lucrative tasks
  15. Thanks for posting, enjoyed that, but as Sean M.H. suggested you may need to look elsewhere for "the edge of what is humanly possible." Without getting into music as competitive sport it might help if such claims were toned down. There are recordings of Ellington, Fats and others playing some pretty happening stride, and no doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Art Tatum's Tiger Rag is the commonly referenced benchmark for "the edge of what is humanly possible" if we're going to talk about such things:
  16. Yes Yes No. Not the same length as the tier that comes with the Vox. The only way to get 2 tiers is to buy a second Vox Continental stand or buy 2 new tiers of the same size from Sequenz.
  17. I had one I used in my live rig for a couple of years. Cheap, not much bigger than your hand, I velcroed it onto the inner side of a rack I was hauling. VB3 was fine for one-handed playing, but any more than 4 notes (which was all i needed at the time) and it choked. The cut down version of OP-X was preset only but sounded good, as did another synth I forget the name of. Eventually I got a Gemini module and sold it on, but it sounded great if you could manage with limited polyphony. Recently picked up an iPad 9 so looking forward to loading it up with the new GSI apps
  18. Dang, if OPs start deleting threads that go off topic this place will get real quiet
  19. I don’t use the crossbar, have used the stand for years with the feet angled out, no issues
  20. kick the feet out at your end in opposite directions so they're slightly angled / \
  21. Circular breathing. I was a teenager playing euphonium in a concert band that once shared the stage with Australian jazz trumpet/trombone great James Morrison, and backstage he showed us how to do circular breathing with a pipe in a tub of water. Iirc you breath in one corner of your mouth while blowing the horn as usual, though it was 40 years ago so i could be misremembering that. I’m sure anyone interested can find it on Youtube.
  22. I can tell you that if you set up an external midi controller to send the CC for say LED drawstrip #4 filter cut-off, you can sweep 1-27 and the assigned synth sound responds with a smooth filter sweep, i.e. it's not restricted to the 8-segment bumpy ride you get using the drawstrips themselves. But otherwise no, no MIDI easter eggs.
  23. I think Korg should put it in every 73-note board they make, it's perfect for that.
