  1. So, I took one of my old cabs out of mothball yesterday. It's a ported 8 sf. plywood enclosure with a Carvin 15. I honestly laughed when I got it wrestled into the house and hooked up. No definition at all. Boomy, barky, buzzy and not tight like the 3.5 sf. cabs I normally play but, it took around half the power to make it insanely loud. I'm taking it to practice Monday. You guys wanna play 80's pop metal? I'm bringin' some retro tone.
  2. Sounds like a typical bar band to me. The thing to remember is the mentality of your typical bar patron. They are there to drink, dance to music they know and have fun with their friends. If the vocals are decent, if they hear signature licks and can recognize the songs and the drums keep them in sinc on the dance floor, they're happy. The sound doesn't have to be perfect. The big question is will you have enough fun to stay interested or, after the novelty wears off will it become work and if/when it does are you willing to stick?
  3. Go audition you schmuck!! Sounds like a great opportunity. Seriously, what have you got to lose?
  4. I feel you Flank. There are probably 5 or 6 bassists in the tri-county area here. That's right county. Oh, there are lots of guys who play bass but, the guys you can call if you're bass player is on a meth binge or can't find his teeth? 5 or 6 and they are as gigged up as they want to be. The bands they play with have been around for many years and have a following. Without sounding too terribly full of myself, I am one of these players. It's not that we're end all bass players - it's that we sing.
  5. This thread can end now.
  6. So, my ex is in southern Cali fighting a fire and I have my 12 year old son for the week. I am amazed at how much the kid eats! I'll spend more on groceries this week than I would for myself in a month.
  7. Preferably one that doesn't need retrofitting and doesn't fall apart in the middle of the night. Davio - relax and enjoy being a kept man. Now go do the dishes.
  8. I landed one of those uber-juicy jobs today. Dryrot repair and new synthetic decking on a 920 square foot second story deck. I feel GASeous already!
  9. That's when you sit on the couch eating ice cream and watching DVR reruns of Oprah.

  11. My group has begun rehearsals again after 9 months. They procured a lockout at a place called Godlike Studios an hour away from me. It's interesting - 79 practice rooms in a warehouse with a general store and recording facilities. As you stroll around you hear all different kinds of music (Mariachi to speed metal) and the place is open to certain urban artists who work exclusively with spray paint. Here's their website. Dig the bathroom - it was actually quite clean and funk free. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b203/Mattulator/04-26-09_1518.jpg Drummer Jeff chatting up one of the ladies http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b203/Mattulator/04-26-09_1256.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b203/Mattulator/04-26-09_1255.jpg

  13. Do your homework Skippy - be proactive. Look that stuff up and see what others are saying. You can't be the only one with that condition. My guess is they will have you swim and weight train. If it doesn't work maybe you can get the same prescription they gave me - single malt scotch and hashish.
  14. *CAUTION* This video contains adult language - but is very funny.

  18. Thanks Tom! I have fished the sound and the Hampton Bays - beautiful part of the country. Of course it was August when I was there. The best pan fishing ever was upstate around Schaghticoke. 1 lb sunfish and bluegill.
