  1. I saw Jimmy Smith when I was 15 years old and a small jazz club in Cincinnati called the Viking Lounge. My parents loved jazz organ and my father knew the owner of the club and asked if it would be alright to bring me to see the show. He gave us the best table in the house. I could lean forward and touch the B3 that Jimmy Smith was playing. Saw Joey DeFransesco when he was very young at an even smaller jazz club called the Balligo Inn in West Conshohocken, PA. Actually went to see his father, Poppa John DeFrancesco on B3.
  2. 😂 Well there is that! But it was my first synth and the fact that I built it made it even more special.
  3. In clearing out some old storage boxes I came across several PAIA faceplates from years past. I’m sorry I ever sold my 2700 Modular.
  4. Here you go. it can be yours for $250.00- https://reverb.com/item/312213-hammond-aurora-classic
  5. Yet another Hammond organist, Ethel Smith- But wait, there's more...
  6. That's a fun tune to play. Then again, I can pull off a little Lenny Dee when I'm feeling frisky.
  7. I've come across several of this fellows videos recently while perusing YouTube. May not be your cup of tea or mug of pilsner, but he is sure good at what he does. Don't know anything about him or where he is from. https://youtu.be/k44sW6s_iFU BTW, how do you attach a video and not just a link?
  8. In the Kronos, effect number 016 in the effects list is labeled 'Stereo Wah/Auto Wah' (page 920 in the parameter guide). That's the one you want. Set the sweep mode to 'Auto' and adjust the various parameters to your liking paying particular attention to Resonance, Envelope Sensitivity and Envelope Shape. Hope this helps, Dave P.S. Still sounds like a Wurlitzer to me. P.S.S. Oberheim Four-Voice in that picture. And it could be a Wurlitzer underneath.
  9. Ooo! I had one of those back in the day for my EP200a. I also had a Maestro MP-1 but the PS-1 was the just killer. Like and idiot I sold it years ago. As far as the video, I'm sticking with an envelope follower.
  10. I have a Behringer 1200D that I used with my SSv2/3 that definitely helped in tone and volume. I have not tried the sub with my SS XL. You might try adding a small mixer to give the SS XL a bit more signal strength not to mention having some EQ to boost/cut certain frequencies to help it cut through better. In another thread a while back, someone mentioned using a BBE Sonic Maximizer in front of the Spacestation input with very good results in tone and boost. I haven't tried that either but it sound interesting. I used to use a BBE on a PA years ago.
  11. Forgot to answer the OP question. Sounds like a Wurlitzer through an Electro-Harmonix Q-Tron. At 52-54 seconds into the video, you can clearly hear the filter sweep. The Q-Tron sweep range varies depending on the incoming volume level.
  12. I'm particularly fond of this version of Stayin' Alive- (I apologize in advance) Incidentally, Jo Stafford was actually a fine singer.
  13. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! That's it. Where is the 'sigh of relief' emoji? Again, thank you. Actually I had never heard the Michael Jackson version. I was only familiar with THIS version from Stanley Jordan. And I haven't even seen that CD in years. How this ever crept into my head I have no idea.
  14. Well, EWF's Fantasy is one that I though about but I don't think that's where I am remembering this from.
  15. Name this tune (1).wav This melody has been worming around inside my head for weeks. I can come up with somewhat similar melodies from other songs, but not this exact line. Note: I recorded this quickly on my iPhone using MusicStudio through the internal speaker so please forgive the choice of sounds, mix, etc. Hopefully it gets the point across and somebody will recognize the tune.
  16. This is way more than what the JX-3P was (I used to have two of them with the editors) but I would love to have an Arturia Poly-Brute. I think it would be a blast in a live setting.
  17. Just curious, are you using backing tracks when play some/all from your list or just vocal and piano?
  18. I have both the Lester K and the Ventilator II. While the Ventilator is very good, there is something I like about the Lester K. It has a more woody or boxy (in a good way) sound to me. The Vent offer more control/customization, but I would save some money and try the Lester K first.
  19. I think it's just his thick accent.
  20. (link to description on YouTube) [video:youtube]
  21. Guido just confirmed via email that while the Gemini Expansion for the DMC-122 is no longer manufactured, it is still supported and the WaveTable expansions will work just fine. The only difference between it and the rackmount/tabletop versions is the Expansion module does not have a USB port so the newly designed Editor will not work.
