  1. Just asked the pro team guy. The system is CAD Audio GXLIEM4
  2. This is lots of good information to digest. If I decide to go with open-back headphones, do you think I will be able to use a pair of 300 ohm cans? A friend of mine has a pair of Sennheiser HD 650 and they are 300 ohm impedance. I'm wondering if the wireless transmitter has enough oomph to make those headphones sound reasonable?
  3. About a month ago our church's "pro team" rolled out a new in ear monitor system. All the floor monitor wedges were removed from the stage. Each of the musicians has their own wireless transmitter and a crappy little pair of ear buds with a 3.5mm mini-plug for the transmitter. I didn't like how the ear buds made me feel detached from the aliveness of the live performance. I also tried some Sony closed-back headphones and did not like how everything was in my head, almost as if I wasn't even there in the midst of the musical experience / celebration / worship time. Last Sunday, on a few occasions I reached up and moved the earcup over my right ear a little so I could hear what was happening in the room and it was better (this was better but less than ideal because my ability to really hear what I was playing on keys was diminished quite a bit with the right earcup adjusted away from my ear). I think the solution might be a decent pair of open-back headphones such as the Shure SRH 1840 open-back headphones. I'm looking for feedback and recommendations on open-back, over-ear headphones for my dilemma.
  4. OK, this is a really embarrassing question. I brought my Key Largo (KL) and a Boss RT-20 Leslie pedal and a Ernie Ball Volume pedal to church this morning to replace my Motion Sound which had developed a nasty hum. My sound board guy said that he could not hear the Kronos in stereo and that the CX-3 sounded flat. First question. Does it make a difference if I run TRS cables from the Left and Right output of the Kronos into the Key Largo? Or should I use TS cables only? For the CX-3, same question. The CX-3 has left and right output but I have always thought it was mono. Should I run a TS cable out of both the left and right output? If I use a TRS instead, will that make a difference?
  5. My new Key Largo has two inputs on the back for a volume pedal. It has one input for Volume Pedal Send and one for Volume Pedal Receive - they each accept a single TRS cable. I tried my old Boss Volume pedal this morning - it has two inputs and two outputs (total of four jacks). The problem was it was very scratchy and so I need to buy a new volume pedal. Please provide some recommendations. The volume pedal will be used to control the volume of my Kronos and CX-3.

  7. I'm thinking of buying a Key Largo for my Sunday morning setup. I have a Kronos, a Korg CX-3 and an iPad. It's obvious to me how I would use the stereo outs from the Kronos on channel 1 of the Key Largo and the mono out from the CX-3 into channel 2 of the Key Largo. If I want to trigger sounds from the iPad, how do I connect the iPad sound to the Key Largo?
  8. Are you saying that the B3-X manual has a section for explaining how to do this? If you had trouble, I may NEVER be able to figure it out!
  9. Has anybody done this? My CX-3 was the newer version (but still about 20 years old) but seems to have midi capability. How much of a hassle would it be to map the software to the CX-3. It would be nice to control the B3-X virtual drawbars with the physical drawbars of the Korg but not 100% necessary.
  10. I'm playing a church gig tomorrow and wanted to try layering in some pads sounds from an iPad. The pads are pre-recorded drone pads in a certain key, such as C or D. You just press "play" and they drone on during a worship song while I am playing on my Kronos other notes etc. I want the drone pads to play into my Motion Sound keyboard amp. What is the easiest way to get sound from an iPad with a lightning connector and a headphone plug into the Motion Sound? The amp has two channels, so I can run audio cables from my Kronos into one channel and the iPad into the other channel but don't know how to connect the iPad with quarter inch cables.
  11. I have my Kronos plugged into the FOH at my church. I only have one stereo set of inputs available to me. I want to also play my Yamaha MOXF8 at the same time. Is there a way I can run audio cables from the Yamaha into the Kronos and then have the sounds of both keyboards feeding the PA through the stereo outs of the Kronos? Thanks in advance!
  12. I'm intrigued by what people are saying about the Lester K. I have the Vent II but honestly don't like the dual functions of the knobs and find it easy to screw up the settings. I don't need that much tweaking, just want a good solid Leslie sim, meat and potatoes. I noticed they also have Lester G. Wondering how that sounds compared to the Lester K? p.s. I have been playing my 2020 CX-3 though my Motion Sound KBR-3D but it's just a matter of time before it completely craps out. The top rotor belt breaks ocasionally which is irritating to fix and while I love the XLR's on it the internal Leslie mics are supposedly garbage.
  13. I am a movie lover and really love it when a movie soundtrack is powerful and majestic and and .... Most (if not all) of these are probably done with a full orchestra as opposed to pro keyboards playing back samples, etc, that's my guess. I just watched this little off the wall movie called Old Henry - a dark western, edgy, tense, really good movie. At the sad ending, there was this amazing song called The Grave Stone that practically brought me to tears with the interplay of the pianos, strings, cellos, and all that. With that long-winded preamble out of the way, it made me wish I could somehow imitate the sounds of something that amazing using keyboards. Do any of you dabble in this area for fun? I'm not saying I aspire to be Hans Zimmer or John Williams, I just wonder if any of you make your own music like this and what kind of equipment (software) you use to do it.
  14. you guys are amazing, thank you so much!
  15. Good points there. One of my challenges is our pro sound team is novice and I only have access to two channels of the FoH. Right now I have Kronos stereo cables running into my Motion Sound amp. The MS has two XLR channels connected to FoH. I also have a CX3 organ plugged into the Motion Sound amp (which serves as a monitor for me on stage). I was thinking that the backing tracks audio (not midi) would need to be somehow connected to the Kronos in such a way that this audio would come out of the Kronos stereo cables. Am I crazy?
  16. I'm a midi idiot plain and simple. I want to connect my iPad to my Kronos using my Korg Plug Key for a gig I'm playing at church tonight. Basically I will be launching a backing track from my iPad and then using program sounds or combis from the Kronos to "play along" with the backing track on the iPad. I need help with understanding what I need to do on the Kronos for this to happen. Does the iPad connection, which is thru a midi cable, need to be set up on a unique midi channel using the Kronos parameters? Do I need to assign the iPad to say channel 1 and then assign the Kronos piano or strings to channel 2 so both can be heard simultaneously?
  17. No, not a guitarist. Actually I'm not trying to find pictures of specific chords and voicings, I just want an editable picture of the piano keyboard that I can print out (like six or seven rows) and then mark the keys of the chords as they progress from stanza to stanza.
  18. I don't really know how to explain this. I can't read sheet music. I want to learn some chord voicings similar to what this guy plays (see link below). They are pretty basic / simple but I just want to learn them. So I'm looking for some kind of editable "document/file" like in Excel or Word that is basically four or five octaves of a piano keyboard that I can repeat over and over (copy) with successive chord voicings. So if playing a basic C chord I could insert a black dot on middle C, E and G. A simple song might have six or seven pictures of, say five octaves of the keyboard, one after the other with the notes marked down in six or seven successive rows on a piece of paper. Don't know if I'm making sense here, but please chime in if you have any ideas.
  19. Looking for some opinions on the 73 semi-weighted keybed of the Nord Stage 3 compact. I realize it's not the same as piano action, but how does it feel when playing piano parts? I am by no means a professional piano player, so it's not critical to me but want to get your feedback. Also, are there any other major differences between the 73 compact and the 76HP version of Stage 3?
  20. I'm kind of excited about the Lumbeats apps .... saw a few tutorials and it looks easy to use and pretty powerful. With that said, I have been searching for something that I have trouble describing. Don't know if it exists. I want an app that plays background percussion sounds, maybe stuff you would hear in a movie soundtrack, could call it like "ethnic" percussion, soft with bongo's or other sounds like that. I want this because I like playing atmospheric and improvisational stuff on my Kronos with pads and such. Any ideas from the genius pool????
  21. I want to send the Kronos piano sounds into my Native Instruments S88 controller keyboard. Do I send midi out from Kronos to midi in on the S88, or vice versa? Do I have to adjust any settings/parameters in the Kronos to ensure that the sounds transmit when playing the notes using the S88 keybed?
  22. I just googled nord stage 3 worship and now I am BESIEGED WITH GAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dammit.
  23. I'm not a gigging musician, only play Sundays at contemporary church. I bought the Stage 3 about 2 years ago because I was dissatisfied with the AP's in my Kronos and wanted more options and saw that most worship bands (Bethel, Elevation Worship, Hillsong) were using the red boards. I was surprised to find out that it was seriously lacking in the area of pads, synth sounds and other atmospheric patches. I was spoiled by the depth of the Kronos in this area. Curious what others think about its effectiveness beyond organ, AP and EP.
  24. Not sure which iPad (about 3 years old) but it does have a lightning connector. I bought the "camera connector kit" dongle that plugs into the iPad lightning port and it has a standard USB female connector. I also purchased a PreSonus USB96 midi connection box. So the CX-3 midi ports will connect to the PreSonus midi ports. Where I come up empty is understanding what settings on the Korg are in order for it to cancel its own internal sounds and simply play back the sounds of the B3-X.
