  1. many interesting ideas here, thanks everybody well I just made the mistake of googling "omnidirectional speakers" and landed on these things. They look wireless so probably no way to make them work. I've seen them before and wondered what they sound like? https://www.crutchfield.com/S-WOpJFX8XXJx/p_285P298OP/Devialet-Phantom-II-98db-Op-ra-de-Paris.html?XVINQ=GZ0&XVVer=1BJG&awcr=628258311108&awdv=c&awnw=g&awug=9007725&awkw=pla-1158105769627&awmt=&awat=pla&gclid=CjwKCAiAv9ucBhBXEiwA6N8nYKDWuXV1JqCZ0nO8H0fWFLDRMQJ-kqlZHVwPpe9HTJ6wmaFvOklfehoC8tsQAvD_BwE By the way, any other suggestions for omni-directional besides the Mirage OM-10 mentioned earlier?
  2. This seems like a cool idea. I don't really have an extra mixer or amp. If I find a clean pair of the Mirages and a simple integrated amp, can I just get a 1/4" adaptor to rca jacks to plug into an amp?
  3. I decided to put my NS3 in my smallish living room. I'm looking for an intimate, lush and beautiful sound in stereo, just to enjoy music with my wife and a few friends. Most of my playing will be atmospheric, worship type music. Several years ago I had a Yamaha Clavinova piano/keyboard that had built in amps and speakers and it sounded really good to my ears. It occurred to me that something similar to that might sound better than really nice studio monitors. When Googling around, I came across the Vintage Vibe site that sells and builds speaker consoles for their gear. Guessing it sounds pretty good. Anyone know of a similar product out there that might compare to the Vintage Vibe cabinet? Something like the Genelec 8341A would probably sound great but they're expensive and I just wanted to get some feedback on the speaker console approach?
  4. Looking for suggestions for reverb pedal for Kronos acoustic pianos. I love my Kronos but find the grand pianos rather unimpressive. I'm looking to add a reverb pedal for atmospheric slow playing in worship settings. Would not hurt if it also had delay function. Thanks!
  5. Looking for advice on make and model to control Leslie speed using a footswitch with Fantom 06. I saw a nice heavy duty switch on Amazon called the Korg PS-1 single momentary switch, but I heard that it might not be the right polarity for the Roland.
  6. I'm also looking at the Arturia KeyLab 61 MkII controller which is probably better. While the iRig has actual audio output jacks, the Arturia does not. But I guess I would route the audio signal from the Arturia to my Key Largo mixer using a USB cable.
  7. I'm curious if anybody is using the iRIG KEYS IO 49 as a controller for the Hammond B-3X made by the same company? Watched a few Youtube videos of this somewhat tiny board, but it looks kind of tempting. I'm not a "power" Hammond player, I just use by CX-3 several times per Sunday as accompaniment for our praise and worship band.
  8. Hey, I have a new variable to introduce to this challenge of how to play the B3-X sounds using the CX-3 as controller. Ditch the iPad and it's limitations. I just discovered that my Dell XPS windows 11 laptop has a touch screen! Hallelujah! Now, I guess I will connect the USB of the Presonus to the Dell USB?
  9. OMG, this is amazing funkyhammond. Very helpful. Thanks!
  10. Damn buddy, that's an amazing setup you made there, very nice!
  11. this seems too complicated for me. it might be a great solution for those with the ability to understand it and implement it. I was hoping for a simpler solution. maybe I just need to save up for a Hammond Sk or Xk and forget about this approach.
  12. Thanks for your input Mythias. I don't understand what you mean by rackspace. What is that?
  13. My CX-3 is permanently positioned at my church, don't ever have to move it around. My Motion Sound is no longer in use. I have it in my head that the sound engine in the B3-X will just sound better. I just need help from people who understand how to connect this rig together... do I need midi, do I need to adjust midi settings inside the CX-3 even if I don't use drawbars, how to connect iPad to the Key Largo, etc. etc.
  14. I am refreshing this topic because I have decided (after six months) that I definitely want to use my CX-3 to control B3-X on an iPad. Here's what I have as far as equipment goes: 1. Korg CX-3 (second generation with midi) 2. iPad with lightning connector (with B3-X software) 3. Key Largo mixer 4. PreSonus USB96 midi connection box 5. Korg Plug-key (bought about a year ago and now I can't find it) What I want is to use the CX-3 keys to play the sounds from the B3-X software. I plan to use the iPad to adjust drawbars, pre-sets, Leslie speed, etc. With that said, I guess I still need to connect iPad to CX-3 with the midi connection box?
  15. Thanks, that looks pretty good. I'm wondering about the height of that case being 9" Makes me wonder if there might be too much wiggle room, height wise, since the Stage 3 height is only 5" Would I have to add a layer of foam on top of the keys so it didn't move around too much inside the case?
  16. OK I'm looking at Sweetwater and they recommend a soft case for the Stage 3 76 which costs $599. The dimensions of the 76 weighted key version that I own are about 5x14x44. This bag is overkill because it has the end handle and wheels that I don't need or want .... too bulky. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/NordGB76--nord-soft-case-for-nord-stage-76 There is a Nord soft case for their $299 smaller 73 key board that looks like it might work for my 76 board. It says the internal measurements are 4.33x13x44.48. Can I squeeze my larger board into this case? https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/NordGB73--nord-soft-case-for-73-key-keyboards
  17. OK, there's been lots of responses here and I want to jump in and clarify things a little, for what it's worth. It appears that most people think my reluctance to buy a case is because I didn't want to spend the money, which is kinda crazy since a Stage 3 is over $4K to start with. The truth is that somehow in my goofy brain, I had convinced myself that it is "easier and quicker" to just wrap a light-weight board in a blanket, wrap my arms around it and carry it up the stairs to the car. Plus it's easier to maneuver this into a smallish car than something in a bulkier case. Understand that I have NEVER been a gigging musician that has had to cart gear around all the time. I'm a finance guy who has worked in office settings my whole life and my gigs have been 100% Sunday church services. Plus, I'm 68 years old with a bad back who is always looking for the easy way out when occasionally moving stuff around. Having endured the abuse that I deserved from you seasoned professionals, I have come to realize that it's actually EASIER to plop a Nord Stage into a soft case, zip it shut and carry it up the stairs than it is to plop a Nord Stage onto a moving blanket and carry that up the stairs. I think the straw that broke the camel's back for me is eric's post above, who recently celebrated his 20th anniversary on this board. I have always admired Eric and his cool Leslie in a boat avatar, so I had no choice but to fall on my knees, repent for my stupidity, and ask you all for forgiveness.
  18. This forum is incredible! It's amazing how entertaining it can be to see what you guys come up with on ANY topic! Funny thing, there is a Kronos Enthusiast Facebook page and a guy came up with this solution ... "In the program, there is a HOLD tick box in the Common page. It will continue to hold the note(s) until you either press Compare or switch to a different patch" This actually worked for what I needed in a pinch. I was playing piano parts on a different keyboard while the drone was playing on the Kronos.
  19. those rubber mutes are cool but my gig starts in 3 hours, LOL
  20. Calling all Kronos owners .... Is there a way to call up a pad program (patch) in the Kronos and then simply play a single note or a chord with your hand and then remove your hand and it continues to play on without having to use the sustain pedal? I think the Nord Stage has this capability, but not sure if it's possible on the Kronos.,
  21. I hadn't thought of the fact that moving pads have lots of dust and fuzz. guess I'll get a cheap soft case. grrrrrr.....
  22. I have a Nord Stage 3 (73 key) that's reasonably light and easy to carry. I don't feel like buying a carrying case for it. I'm probably going to be schlepping it to my church service gigs a few times a month, carrying it from basement to my car, etc. I want to protect it in case I accidentally knock it into the wall going up the stairs. I would love a super light-weight wrap or sleeve to stick it in or wrap around it and then just carry it around like that. Anybody have a creative solution to this ask? (Please don't say "xyz Gator cases are really light and really cheap").
  23. This is the link to the CAD system ... https://www.cadaudio.com/products/gxl-series/gxliem4#specs For what it's worth, this is basically a piece of sh*t system, but it's what we've got to work with right now. The little transmitters seem to kick out a reasonable amount of volume into my closed-back Sony headphones, by the way.
