  1. "As I lie awake resting from the day I can hear the clock passing time away" Image of a Girl (1960) - The Safaris (not to be confused with The Surfaries) "Hear the clock" 🤓
  2. Watch it again from about 2:28 - 3:45. He does talk about it and says he lost it. I, of course, have all 3 on vinyl and CD 😁 I must have been away at school when the single came out. Interestingly, being away at school, I didn't know about the 3rd LP either, but to my surprise I found it in a record shop in Ft. Lauderdale and snapped it up there. I didn't know about the single until a few years ago when I found it on YouTube. So I was able to get it there as well as the 12th Brigade from 3 Part Inventions.
  3. Apparently this has been on YouTube for a while, but I just came across it.
  4. Any chance it was inspired by this project in the Aug. 1960 issue of Electronics Illustrated?
  5. Back in the day a Stereo LP was $1 more than the same LP in Mono.
  6. Vinegar is acidic. As I mentioned in my post above, it neutralizes the alkalinity leaked from alkaline batteries. 🤓 https://cleaning.lovetoknow.com/Clean_Alkaline_Battery_Corrosion
  7. There are some YouTube videos on the subject here: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=fixing+battery+corrosion Some suggest vinegar to neutralize the alkaline. I recently repaired a battery holder in a handheld radio that had been unattended for years, but it was so corroded that I had to rebuild the battery contact. Tough to do in a small cramped space. I try to remember to remove the batteries from everything that that is not frequently used.
  8. I didn't know how to answer this, since my vocal range is about a half octave and anyone would do, but I just finished watching the Elvis movie on HBO and I've got to say that's the voice I'd like to wake up with 😁
  9. Worst: Rock Wells (Around 1966) My mother thought is sounded too much like the American nazi George Rockwell 😱 Best: Licorice Philosophy (Around 1967) At least it wasn't Rock Wells. 😁 Over 4 decades later, I found there was another more successful band with the same name. Someone named Ronnie Gent was a member.
  10. I use it mostly for movies. I have my old Advent stereo speakers (probably from the 70's) for front right and left, 4 Carvin spot monitors for center, right and left surround, and center back, and a powered sub woofer off to the front side.
  11. I've had a 6.1 home system for a looong time and really enjoy it. Last year I got my first streaming device and was disappointed that just about all the surround content was (I presume) ATMOS which my A/V receiver outputs as stereo. I've only recently come across some programming that comes through as 5.1. I also don't know why nobody makes at ATMOS to 5.1 converter.
  12. After I retired I joined a Uke group at recreation facility in Burbank. I left after about a year because I really didn't care for the 20's and 30's music they played. My uke lives mainly in its case in my closet. Here's a picture of me at the only gig I did with some of the group at a nursing home (I'm not sure they wanted to be at the show 😄 )
  13. Since my singing range is about half an octave, I rediscovered my love of the 60's instrumental surf guitar of my teen years. Having moved to Southern CA, I've met a lot of members of the old bands including The Chanteys, Surfaries, Dick Dale, and The Ventures to name a few (a lot of whom have since passed ☹️). So BRING ON THE DRIP!
  14. I'm guess I'm odd for playing surf on my Carvin Bolt-T but I build my own clone of a Fender spring reverb: http://jeffreyleites.com/Reverb01.html
  15. When I was vacationing in Nashville I saw beautiful SG in the Gibson showroom. It had a clear coat finish over wood that had natural extreme color variations. I've never seen one like it before or since then. I'm far from a young player, I could afford it, and my wife was practically encouraging me to buy it, but I just couldn't justify $3,000 for my "bedroom" playing.
  16. I'm back! I checked in this morning as R_King. I don't remember why I set up a 2nd account with that name many years ago. What a mess! My original and correct account shows I joined in 2001 but had a very obsolete email address. Thanks to Dave for fixing it all up for me. 👍
