  1. I don't understand everything he talks about, but I like watching Brian Greene.
  2. Well, naive me finally found a helpful web page... and you might not want to know 🤯 https://www.them.us/story/best-swimwear-for-trans-women-femmes In short, a swimsuit for the Lola crowd.
  3. https://www.westernjournal.com/paul-mccartney-uses-ai-revive-john-lennons-voice-upcoming-final-beatles-song/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=conservativetribune&utm_content=2023-06-13&utm_campaign=manualpost&fbclid=IwAR29eiisBwo9J_f-m1J7hW00SvWDldr48cQSL9lGgR0wukEMCPkG67fc1bA
  4. I recently watched and enjoyed The Man From Earth I found it rather cerebral. It had a sequel, The Man From Earth:Holocene which I can only describe as a horrible insult to the original.
  5. I wonder if Benjamin Franklin thought the glass armonica would be around today.
  6. There can't be another line added. It would violate the rules of haiku, but we could change "Melodies" to "Groovy tunes" and still have the correct syllable count" . 😁🤓
  7. I asked Microsoft Bing AI chat to write a haiku about performing live music: "On stage, lights shining Melodies flow through the air Audience entranced"
  8. I had the time of life playing in bands during my college years (late 60's). My early garage band used to play at "record hops". Back then they'd be a real recording artist come in and lip sync their current hit, and a local band would play a few tunes. We got to be on stage with the Soul Survivors ("Expressway To Your Heart"). The keyboard player faked playing my guitar. My next, better, but still not ready for prime time band, Licorice Philosophy, got to share the stage at some of the smaller venues where some of the more talented Philadelphia bands played ("Sweet Nothin" and "The American Dream"). We even played at a place (I think it was "Inside The Looking Glass") where Craig's Mandrake Memorial played (but not the same night).
  9. Not even Janis Joplin?! 😱 I couldn't sing if my life depended on it, that's why I gravitated back to 60's instrumental surf. 🏄‍♀️
  10. In North Hollywood, CA had lots of rain, a little snow/sleet that melted as it hit the ground, unbelievable wind gusts, and some unbelievable cold days for southern California. Last Friday night a massive 100 year old tree was blown down a few doors up crushing an SUV and blocking our street. People who live in the mountain areas are snowed in running out of food an medicine. Our only damage was a few roof single tabs that broke off. Snow got as low as the Hollywood sign.
  11. I put a TV tuner on my old XP desktop and use it as a PVR. (I'm still an OTA TV antenna guy).
  12. I have quite a few classical LPs and CDs. I don't seem to find the time to sit down a listen to them much any more, or any other music for that matter. ☹️ A couple of classic (no pun intended) moments. Once we were at the Hollywood Bowl for a performance of the 1812 Overture (complete with canon and fireworks of course). At the end of the performance, a not so favorite, pompous, relative proclaimed, "There was only one part that was recognizable.". 😮 In another instance, this same person put on an LP he had received for free. It contained several well know pieces. When Vivaldi began to play, I said, "That's the Four Seasons." to which he replied (in a condescending manner) , "That's not the Four Seasons, that's classical music". Sometimes his doofusness [sic] is amusing 😂
  13. Thanks for all that advice. I'm not a beginner, but what I meant when I said I'd only been able to go so far is, I've only been able to get somewhere into the intermediate range. I could never be a session musician, a guitar god, or even as competent as the not so famous players in the local gigging bands (some of which I find amazing).
  14. Guitar! I've only been able to go so far. I think it takes a certain amount of talent to start with, then more work than I'd want put into it.
  15. I forgot to mention that in addition to all my guitars I have a uke, a digeridoo and several Native American style flutes that I built when I was on a flute making kick. No one asked, but here's a sample of my bedroom playing with some of the instruments I made or assembled... the Carvin Bolt-T, the 12 string, and one of the flutes. 😁
  16. I have trouble parting with anything. Especially guitars. I have a Silvertone 1457 red sparkle burst with the amp build into the case. A '64 Fender Mustang Then I got into building and assembling guitars so I have... A Carvin Bolt-T A semi-hollow tele style 6 string with USA Custom Guitars body and Carvin Neck A semi-hollow tele style 12 string with USA Custom Guitar body I put a new Warmouth neck on my Mustang, but then decided to keep it original, so I put the old neck back on and bought a new Warmouth Mustang body for the new neck and built another Mustang. A Traveler Guitar.
  17. I spent about $1,000 for the Sony CDP-101 after waiting years for CDs to come to market. Now I can't remember the last time I listened to a CD but I have no intention of getting rid of the ones I have. I also have 2 or 3 video laser disks that I never opened. I bought them in anticipation of someday buying a player, but I never did. If you want to get rid of them, I suggest donating them to a library. You can probably write them off.
  18. I've been using justhost.com for a long time. You can get the first year for $3.95 a month. It goes up after that. You get a break for a 3 year subscription. When I first signed up I got a free domain name and they paid the annual fee. It's not free anymore, but they grandfathered it for those of use that got it for free.
  19. Chips are holding up the replacement of my CPAP machine. I was eligible for a new one over a year ago. I want a specific model and they are gone just about as soon as the suppliers receive them. 🙁
  20. "If I should call you up, invest a dime" - Happy Together, The Turtles.
  21. "'Cause they'll be rockin' on Bandstand In Philadelphia P.A." - Sweet Little Sixteen - Chuck Berry Released in 1958, it might have already been outdated, since the once local TV show from Philadelphia went national in 1957 as American Bandstand. Even so, it went off the air nearly 60 years ago 😮
