Will Chip visit Lee?

Will Lee say "Chips Ahoy!"

Will Tedster have to play his trump card of showing Simon's wife Simon's old posts to save his skin?

Will Simon's horse find a stallion somewhere?

!!! Hey. HEY!

I'm sorry, I know...

Ahg. See, .. ahg. REALLY, things ..ahg...

For instance, take tomorrow for example:

Impossible, doing the father's day thing in the morning. 3:00 pm recording a friend doing some celtic percussion stuff. Which leads to 8:00 pm, I'm supposed to meet this singer to check the viability of a certain blues project recording-wise...

...Which leads to monday, the other day off:

11:00 am I'm supposed to hook up with a former student who is friends of the son of a local studio owner that has been around for a lonnnng time. This former student of mine works at the store I teach at: he walks in yesterday (after hanging out at this place with the other guy) with a Lexicon LXP15 and says "hey, are these cool?". Sounded like the output section was fried and the input pot needed replacing, but it was FREE. Still booted fine and appeared to be working in that respect. Free. The worst of it is that he's still in his "I want a big rack with lots of lights" phase, and the big red LCD display counts more to him probably than Lexicon reverb algorithms. (Ed if you're reading this, you know am picking...)

So, there supposedly is a closet at this studio with "a bunch of old gear" that I am going to take a look at with him monday. Hopefully. I can not miss this: I would instantly barf if he comes into work Tuesday to tell me he picked up for free "some old Urei compressor for my guitar rig", or "man, they had these old, like, really big looking mics that had some German name on them, I took them to the pawn shop and got a new distortion pedal for them". That's *not* far from the realm of possibility.... (c'mon Ed, you now that's hyperbole. Consider that as homework: what mic manufacturer am I talking about?)

Which then leads back to the singer; if things go as planned we're working on something monday. If not, Frijoleros on Peachtree at 1? Barring that, the 25th.

Chip, I guess you haven't been to Atlanta in awhile; Frijoleros closed down several years ago, unfortunately. Matter of fact, some friends and I used to meet up there every Monday night.

But hey, there are still plenty of great restaurants in Atlanta! Just let me know when you're headed over. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif

Geez... I tried to encourage you two to hook up for the Jeff Beck concert... Chip "couldn't make it" and Lee got sick... the classic "AAARRRGGG!" moment.

And now we have to watch you two stagger toward a "food date"... Ugggh!

LEE, PICK A SET OF DECENT SHOWS OVER THE NEXT THREE WEEKENDS... LET CHIP PICK ONE AND ADJUST HIS SCHEDULE TO FIT!

GO SEE THE SHOW, HAVE FUN, LET US KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY SPARKS, (I mean... Chip's no DRUMMER...)!!!

Hey, Lee and Chip...

Instead of debating the when, where, and how to meet...

Shouldn't you be working on your submittal for the Guitar Forum Compilation CD?

Talk about... "WAKE, AH SAY, WAKE UP!"

ACTUALLY... that's what I just got back from doing, recording a drum part that will be on my submittal.... Got to go to the 'rents house in a little while now, though.

Lee: NOT Frijolero's, I meant FELLINI'S pizza on Peachtree.

Dang Chip!

If I think about what would be cool fer too long, I just never do it! Ya know, some great tunes have been born out of things less worthwhile than spendin' time with a lady axe-man a girl,a no, person! Yeah! Lee's a person! And ya know I'd be takin' it personal if you put a closet full of gear that someone has deemed worthless already, before me! Yup. Yup. I'd be takin' it personal.....

Oh! On Peachtree? You mean the one in [gasp!] BUCKHEAD? What kinda girl do you think I am? http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif I forgot there even was one there. [for those not familiar with Atlanta, Buckhead is the super-yuppie part of town.]

Maybe you mean the one on Ponce De Leon? Or the one in Little Five Points?

Well, I'm game for whichever. Tomorrow probably isn't good for me because I'm still not over this cold and besides I have to, arrrgghh, work. But, next Sunday or Monday would be cool.

Hey, gimme a break! Remember when Rhythm City was on East Paces Ferry? The only place good that was affordable around there was Fellini's back then. Made the mistake of trying that Wendy's there one time... Yikes. Everywhere else around there is either over priced or a bit too... uhm... hmm... how shall I put this? "Rooty-Tooty Fresh and-a-Fa-rooty", if you know what I mean... I suppose that's not really true, but it seems like it sometimes. Maybe the transvestite at that teal and burgandy McDonald's gives that impression.

for those not familiar with Atlanta, Buckhead is the super-yuppie part of town.

As in, sit at a traffic light and feel oppressed because you're the only person at the intersection NOT driving a new Mercedes or Beemer. Saw a nice new Boxster S last time I was there, though.

Oxford Books was a nice redeeming feature, though... WAS.... Dammit.

Maybe you mean the one on Ponce De Leon? Or the one in Little Five Points?

Haven't been to the one in Five Points in years... down the road from Variety Playhouse, right?

I get around Atlanta by visual cues, unfortunately. It's "interesting" sometimes if a visual cue has changed/moved since I've been there (they took down the Big Chicken????? How does *anyone* get around Atlanta without the Big Chicken????)

I'm still not over this cold and besides I have to, arrrgghh, work. But, next Sunday or Monday would be cool.

K.

Fellini's has good spinach white pizza, cheap, a known quantity for me. Sometimes there's even music playing I like, a true rarity. If you know of a better location I'm game - it's your town after all.... You don't know how many road trips there's been to Atlanta where someone has said "hey, let's try that little Thai place over there", and we have to make an "emergency" restroom break at some foul gas station on I20 on the way home.

And yes, I still miss Oxford Books big-time.... sigh....

No, but I wish I had that TYPE of money. Actually, it's interesting from a cultural standpoint, seeing what the beautiful people are up to.

It also gives me a good excuse to drive through downtown, which I like from a dopey architectural tourist point of view.

Hey Ted.....we are working on it.......thanks, it would be alot of fun. We're working on a mini tour with like artists, don't wanna say who, cause I might be counting my chickens before they hatch. We've had some offers but our bassist underwent a pancreas transplant a year or two ago, and we are ever mindful of both his condition, our loyalty to him, and trying to stay current with our fanbase. It's a delicate situation. Blood is thicker than water, and as Southern boys, it's a one for all, all for one mentality. We have already turned down alot of $$$ this year, because of these factors....but it will all pan out in the end, and we'll be the better for it. My brother's wife is from KC, so I'm sure they'd be in tow.....showing us the watering holes and steakhouses I've heard about in legend through the years. Keep your eye out though, you never can tell with these wild guys, we are that unpredictable.

Yeah, this is a great thread that has covered alot of ground, and with alot of mutual respect......damn cool.
