Rather, it's an effect that allows speech-like vocal sounds to be imposed on external sound, such as synth chords, drum patterns, or anything. However, talkboxes are much cooler than vocoders. Slight thread highjack: What is the best Vocoder, I am not that impressed with the Korg Ms 2000 in this regard. Fulc Posted June 26, 2005 Share Posted June 26, 2005 Find a copy of Neil Young's Trans album. That has vocoder all over it. Herbie Hancock has also used vocoder to good effect.
