hermanjoe
Is this board as good as it seems on paper? I read the specs. PC2 sounds 88 weighted keys, expandable...ect I was thinking of getting a pc2x for a gig I do, but it almost doesn't seem worth paying almost 2x when the Pc1x seems to have it all. Any thoughts? Togakure99
If you don't need KB3 mode, sliders (PC1X has knobs instead), and the numeric pad, then rock on. Brett G. Hall Piano Company, Inc. Prague
Also, only 1 CC pedal instead of 2. Only 1 "damper" pedal instead of 3.
keyoctave
I was all set to purchase one a few months ago when I was offered a new PC2X for about the same price (this was through a dealer that I have done business with for years-it was found when they were cleaning out the back for inventory). I think the PC1X is a great performance controller for the money. I also liked the slightly lighter feel to the action over the PC2X. Get the Classic Keys expansion ROM and you will be set. hermanjoe
I have a roland A-90ex right now. The action is good on that. Is the PC1X comparable? I have a korg cx-3 for organ sounds which rocks. So I guess I'll give it a try. what is the power supply? I hope its not a line lump or wall wart. Stephen Fortner
People like 'em. Kurz retailers I've talked to can't keep enough of 'em around. marino
I'm told that the PC1x keyboard has a slightly lighter feel than the PC2x - in other words, the weighting is not the same. Be sure to try one out before coming to a decision.

The dynamics might be easier to control with a heavier action but the number of samples are finite and can only give what they have been recorded too. jah3
I haven't actually played one yet, but the PC1X seems like it's quite a bargain. I think it goes for around $1,200, if I'm not mistaken. I've played around with a PC-88, I think a few years ago in a music store, and it had some great sounds, but I think it was quite a bit more than that at the time. I know Kurzweil has some great orchestral sounds in particular. I've kind of eyed the PC1X a while ago, as it seems pretty affordable for one of their 88 key weighted action keyboards. It's out of my budget at the moment though. Andrew Heaney
Unsound Practices
I've had one for a few months now, and I'm happy with it. Classic Keys ROM is on the way. Good pianos, choirs, and orchestral sounds. Weak on the synth side, but for synth sounds I use... synths. For $1,200 its great. Yamaha's S90, for about $700 more, is a better do-it-all bottom board, though, if you need a do-it-all bottom board.
