  1. Dave, Two things I didn't see on your list that are very important are trap work, and damper stop-rail regulation. Enjoy your piano!
  2. This is a devastating loss for us all. I respected him so much and will cherish forever my Prophet 10. Thanks Mr. Smith, rest in everlasting peace.
  3. Any form of unwanted physical contact that may result in harm or injury is an assault under the California penal code. Chris Rock was not making fun of Jeda's alopecia, that's speculation. Do you think he would have hit Jason Mamoa? There is no place in a lawful society for this type of behavior. If he needed satisfaction then challenge him to a boxing match and retain some sense of honor.
  4. Will Smith was laughing when the joke was originally told, it was only when his wife's itty bitty feelings were hurt that he criminally assaulted Chris Rock. Will Smith is a large human being in great shape. Imagine the courage it took to walk up and slap Mr. Rock as he was fulfilling his contactual duty. Will Smith is a punk, a coward and I hope the DA's office prosecutes him for assault and battery.
  5. This is very sad news, Tim was a musical force for good in the world. My condolences to all of his loved ones.
  6. Unimaginable loss, I'm so sorry for you brother. Prayers and love to you and your family.
  7. Many years ago I was called in to tech a Chick performance in Sacramento. The instrument was a Yamaha concert grand and I was told Chick would be in a few hours before the concert to check it out. Once he arrived we had a chance to visit and discuss what he wanted out of the piano, he was so sweet and genuine, a true gentle-man. I tried not to act as though I was his biggest fan, but it was difficult not to be totally awestruck by the physical presence of such an important musical hero of mine. I'm heart broken, thanks for everything Chick.
  8. OMG!!! How incredibly tragic. R.I.P. Eddie.
  9. He was such a hero of mine, I'm so sad that he has passed.
  10. Is it possible use a RolandA88 connected to a Fantom 7 an access the Vpiano with the A88 on a separate midi channel? So the A88 will be piano exclusive and the Fantom would operate un compromised ?
  11. I recently Played a Steinway B at the Steinway store in Walnut Creek, Ca. The piano had the Spirio R system and it was very impressive. As far as technical innovation goes the idea of agraffes on the bridge cap was first introduced in the 1900's by story and clark. Julius Blüthner published a book of piano innovations in Leipzig in the 1890's that contained just about every soundboard and scale variation you could imagine.
  12. At first blush I was very excited by the form factor of the Seven. But upon hearing the poor quality of both the Acoustic Piano and the Electric grand I am astonished they chose to bring it to market as is. At a price point well north of 2k one would think that more thought and development would go into such a foundational sound as the acoustic piano. The processed EP's sound good but other then the looks and the flat top I see no reason to give up my Yamaha CP-5. It has excellent AP+EP sounds, drums, wooden keys and a ton of other useful tones that I enjoy.
  13. Brilliant concept and inspired design, GAS overload!!
  14. Try assigning the output of the midi track to buss 1. Then on a separate audio track assign the input to buss 1. Now you should be able to accomplish what you want. Are you trying to record midi slowly and then speed it up with the Korg?
  15. Blake is a monster musician with major chops. His demo is good in that he does not take the attention away from the instrument he is presenting by dazzling his audience with his ability. I am looking forward to playing the CP-4 and comparing it to the CP-5. I am a huge CP-5 fan and wonder how this less expensive stage piano could possibly be better.
  16. Hammonddave, thanks for answering my question. I can understand your position regarding the shortcomings of the OS. As a musician the weight of my judgement is more rooted in its musical qualities. I played several great lead synths which begs the question, should any manufacturer charge $1k for an instrument that only provides lead synth and synth bass? Then there is the rompler sounds that will help me cover a gig very easily, lets throw those in at no charge. Then how about a very good to almost excellent clonewheel and now the value speaks for itself. As I said earlier the Ap's are not my bag and I wouldn't use them, but there are a few ep's that I would use without reservation. I don't expect this thing to be a KronosX ( though I don't like their AP's either) but for 1k it sends a message to the industry that the bar has been raised for the 1k professional keyboard. I am sure that Roland will get on the obvious issues raised in this thread and address them in upcoming OS updates. I think it is reasonable to give them a bit more time before negative or hyper-critical comments are made about consumer neglect. I can't compare them to Casio in this regard because there aren't a whole lot of Mike Martins in the world, he is truly excellent. So all in all the VR-09 is a winner in my book.
  17. Hammonddave, How many times have you played the VR-09?
  18. I had the opportunity to play the VR-09 today at Sam Ash Hollywood. I only spent about ten minutes with it but came away liking it a lot. The AP's were not usable, the EP's were mediocre to good, the organ was very good and the synth was also very good. I know this has been a very controversial piece of gear but I honestly believe its a great value. If the sk1 and the vr-09 were the same price I would take the Roland. The action was perfectly adequate for most applications and the build quality was segment leading considering the price. I dig it though YMMV.
  19. I would have purchsed from GC but the link doesn't provide an "add to cart" option.
  20. I should have stated in the original post that before asking for forum help I looked for this part elsewhere with no luck.
  21. Of course I meant ( and have corrected ) the initial posting. I have also contacted the retailer I purchased it from and other retailers as well with no luck.
  22. I'm having a hard time locating a pair of ears for my Hammond XM2, any help is appreciated. Thanks
