hermanjoe
I just bought a korg Karma. I am thinking of returning it and buying a Motif ES6. My Main reason for this is the flexibilty of the ES vs. Karma. And the expansion boards for the yamaha are great. Any thoughts on this? Phil B
Why did you buy the Karma in the first place? If it was for the GEs, you're not going to have anything like that in the Yammy. You could get a Triton and add the Karma software.
hermanjoe
I bought the Karma because I liked the GE's and dug on some of the synth sounds. I've realized I really am not going to use the GE's that much. The ones I like are the more rhythmic arpeggio type of thing. I also don't really care for Korg's expansion boards. I like yamaha's dx-7 and analog sounds more. "Learn the changes, then forget them." -Charlie Parker
mate stubb
Sounds to me like the Motif will suit you better. You can even put a "real" DX-7 inside or a decent VA synth using the Yammy expansion cards. Moe ---
IanD
What about a MOSS board, I have a Karma and MOSS and you can get some great some from that (I like the onboard sounds any way)
Phil B
Check out the Fantom-X too if you're going to mess around with the ES - although Roland doesn't offer a VA plug-in card if that's important to you.
hermanjoe
I know about the moss board, but have not heard any demos with it. Anyone have any good links? "Learn the changes, then forget them." -Charlie Parker
Synthoid
I'd also like to hear some MOSS demos. I've downloaded about 500 new patches for it, but never heard it. No store I've been to ever had one installed in a Triton, which seems lame. When an eel hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's a Moray. hermanjoe
Ah, what to do. My main interest or use for a synth/workstation is for lead sounds, pads, and synth comps. Also some clav and various other texture type sounds. So determining the correst board for me has been an ongoing search. If anyone has any info to help steer me in the right direction I am all ears!
