LiveMusic
Steve Winwood's awesome rock voice, the piano banging, the Hammond B3 part or whatever that is... man, this is a KILLER uptempo rock song. If a good band played this song and you like rock at all, you'd have to be dead not to like it. Any other uptempo songs with piano or keys featured come to mind that you just knock 'em out with? > > > [ Live! ] < < <
coyote
Gotta admit, that tune always gets 'em jumpin' And yes that IS a Hammond organ. "Saturday Night" by Elton John works well too. DSears
How about Superstition by Stevie Wonder? It was the first time I ever heard a clavinet and I couldn't helping feeding quarter after quarter into the jukebox there at the Somerset Bowling Alley to hear it again and again.................... I was totally mesmerized by the sound. - David
nursers
"Drive In, Drive Out" by Dave Matthews Band - never have I heard a song where you can hear people enjoying what they are doing so clearly. Absolutely amazing musicianship. Botch.
During Clapton's last tour, he let Billy Preston rip loose with "We'll Go Round in Circles"; I was singing that for days afterwards. ksoper
Gotta ditto the "Will It Go 'Round In Circles." A band I played with never failed to slay the audience with that one. Guitar, bass, drums, and B3. I played a combination of the organ parts along with most of the horn stabs. Phenomenal groove. K. 9 Moog things, 3 Roland things, 2 Hammond things and a computer with stuff on it
LiveMusic
Killer song... "Eli's Coming" by Three Dog Night, I guess it is. Man, if you can play that, that's gotta be a crowd pleaser. > > > [ Live! ] < < <
RABid
I will also ditto "Will It Go Round In Circles" but never got to play it in a band. La Grange by ZZ Top always went over and was fun to play as a drummer. Thank You Falettinme Be Mice Elf Again by Sly and the Family Stone and Dancing Machine by the Jackson Five. Everyone should get to spend some time in a large R&B band. I learned a lot when we were playing songs such as these. Oh, and dont forget I Just Want To Celebrate by Rare Earth. At the time I think they were the only white band on the Motown label. Of course, if any of the songs mentioned in this thread were to be released today the radio stations and TV commercials would use the songs until we hate them with a passion.
